    The ginger girl says "it was empowering because I did it for myself, people think you do it to impress other people". But she says near the start "it was for my self, but it was more for people noticing". Seems very contradicting to me..

      Aaria Holton The moment I heard that I had to stop the video and rewind to the part where she explained her reasoning behind decision to get the plastic surgery. She being a hypocrite there.

    They need psychologists before plastic surgery. Not saying they are crazy, but if the negative perception of self image does not change, the risk of being addicted to plastic surgeries as a coping behaviour could lead to devastating results.

      I so agree - they are far too young, need to wait till they're fully grown and developed. what are their parents thinking allowing this? far too much importance attached to how you look in pics on social media, if they're starting this now where on earth will it end?

    So the girl got the stretch marks on her butt removed when she was 15.... does she know that, you know, you're still growing at that age and she could just get new stretch marks as she grows up ??

    • @irenejoshua4200
      @irenejoshua4200 7 ปีที่แล้ว +286

      Alex In Wonderland you can't blame her for what she did. maybe her stretch marks were really bad. I'm light skinned and I've got some really dark brown stretch marks on my hips and the inside of my thighs that I don't really like. honestly if I had the means I would get them removed. and before you come saying they were other things to try instead of surgery. some things don't work for some people.

    I think it's fine for people to get plastic surgery, but what I don't appreciate is how we lie to ourselves by saying that we did it to feel better about ourselves not for other people. Yes... because we base our opinions of ourselves on how other people view us physically. That girl with the red hair, literally said beforehand that she got her surgery because she didn't want people to think she'd gained weight and lost it (even though evidently that's not always the cause of stretch marks), and then at the end she says that oh she did it to empower herself and feel better. Sure... because you care how people view you. If you were fine with your natural appearance, you wouldn't have gotten surgery to change it to better fit society's beauty ideals. Let's just be real.

    • @alinam4712
      @alinam4712 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      actually i dont agree w/ u cuz i'm that kinda girl that doesnt give a shit about what people say i would literally make a fool of myself and dont care but the thing is i hate my nose's shape and i dont need people's opinions or perceptions to know that it doesnt fit my heart shaped face, i'm 16 and i want my nose to be fixed in the most natural looking way but im not doing it for anyone i dont feel comfortable with it and thats the only reason behind it.

    • @Christine-Tina

      What you said directly fits into what I said. But we're each allowed our opinions.

    • @VlairHuiTing
      @VlairHuiTing 7 ปีที่แล้ว +70

      I totally agree with you, Tina. People keep saying that they are just getting these surgery done to feel better about themselves but who told/influenced them in the first place that their body or face isn't good enough for the standard set by this society which in turn made them hate it so much to a point to change it surgically? I'm just so tired of people claiming to do all these things to feel better about themselves when in reality they were all abiding by the beauty standards of the society without even realizing it. I have nothing against people who got work done but please stop lying to yourself.

    • @JustIngrid
      @JustIngrid 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Venessa .C if you feel that it's society pushing you towards a certain direction then that's you. Speaking for everybody else is just pure arrogance. You don't know what's in other peoples minds so don't say that they are lying to themselves. Humans are instinctually drawn to beauty, symmetry, perfection, etc. It's just how we are. So don't keep blaming fucking society for every little thing. If a person says they're doin it for them then just give them the benefit of the doubt. Stop being an asshole like you know what's in their minds

    • @VlairHuiTing
      @VlairHuiTing 7 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      +I H define beauty then? isnt it shaped by what the media or what other ppl think as it is? look at hw our perception of beauty has evolved over the years? lying or not, they are disillusioned that they are doing it for themselves to look better when the fact is u define "look better" based on the definition of beauty itself. meh, you guys r entitled to your opinion just as i am entitled to mine

      I 100% understand what your talking about and I’m not trying to argue but getting plastic surgery at a younger age is better because instead getting it when your older it basically freezes the young look while you still have it.
      If I had the money I would totally get it in the next couple years, I’m in my younger teenage years and I have a lot in insecurities about my lips and nose.

      then again, if it's your body, it's your choice, and we don't all do surgery for the same reasons

      Jim_Pin I get your point. Kylie Jenner does feel bad for what she did but she did it anyways. Now....this is the problem. Just bcuz you’re not saying, “You should get plastic surgery like me to look prettier and your problems will be solved,” once you had surgery, people will start looking up to you.
      It doesn’t matter if you tell them or not, once you start to do something, it’s a nature for others to look up at you and use you as an excuse that it’s okay to do so.
      Kylie Jenner looked beautiful before surgery. And although it’s “her body her choice”, since she’s in the spotlight, once she starts doing something, ppl will say something like, “Wait! Mom! My sister gets to do that but why can’t I?” If you have siblings, that is how it is.

    Why is plastic surgery becoming a norm in today's society? It's not a "feminist act", it's impressionable young people (usually girls) who are conforming to societal pressures. These surgeries are just asserting that Western features are the epitome of beauty. Why can't a wide nose be a symbol of beauty? I know that everyone feels pressure to live up to these standards and it can seem overbearing but the fact is, it's avoidable. It takes time to learn to accept your natural features but eventually you'll come to love those features that make you individual. How boring it would be if we all plumped our lips, narrowed down our noses, made our breasts perkier until we all looked the same...

      I totally agree with you Alex, plastic surgery does not even make you feel better about your self it just puts a band aid on something that i totally bigger than the outside, they do this because of self hate and pressure from society. We were put on this earth in this form and we have to cherish this form with love. These girls have not fully awaken to the fact of this and it saddens me, hopefully one day we will stop doing plastic surger

      I know that I personally do feel much worse about myself/my life when I see people on social media "living the life", but of course it all depends on what ones does on those platforms! :P

      +Tatum Thompson : 'Feminism is accepting all women's choices… you have to…’ Feminism doesn't mean passively accept one’s decision regardless of your opinion- that just involves ignoring moral reasoning. Feminism is about- apparently - the equality of the sexes (or in this case, un-learning society's expectations on women).
      There is nothing feminist with plastic surgery- I'd say it's a vain act, lacking in self confidence.

    • @CaramelDermis

      Feminism is about equality of choice and opportunity and NOT outcome. Even if literal equality between men and women were possible, to give 'equality' the highest priority would involve forcing women to make decisions that render them equal to men. I really hope I don't have to explain the counterproductivity in that.
      You have to understand that there will always be shallow women, vapid women, insecure women, and media-obsessed women, with or without feminism, and these women are just as entitled to achieve self-fulfillment through the means they choose as anyone else is.
      That being said, wanting to attract the opposite sex is about as natural as breathing, and the measures we go to to attain physical beauty in the Western world are by no means extreme (even tame) in comparison to many other cultures. But when are men ever criticized for going to great lengths to impress women? The male endeavour to crack the mystery of 'what women want' has become a trope by now, yet I have never heard ONE person criticize a man as self-defeating for doing his best to attract women. It is truly amazing the things that people say and do in the name of 'feminism'........

    I don't usually comment on videos but can we all just agree that exercise and cosmetic surgery are not equatable to one another? A. Yes, exercise can improve physical appearance, granted. B. It also maintains healthy hormone levels, raises your metabolism, provides you with a higher level of vitality, boosts your immune system, aids healthy functioning of the digestive system and all major organs, reduces chances of cancer and heart disease and reduces the effects of mental illness. I could stay going, but you get the picture.
    I am not anti-cosmetic surgery and I respect the personal reasons of all the women who shared their stories, but; context people- you can't compare nipple enhancement to exercise. Let's keep it real.

And I hate it. And I think about it everyday. And constantly look in mirrors and tell myself how ugly I am. (I even fell into a long depression last year too) and ik im complaining a lot and this is such a first world problem. I would agree if it was changing your hair color. But this is surgery and should never be taken lightly. Every surgery is risky---that is why they make you sign a release before hand. Ask people who live in chronic pain if they'd rather be pain-free or look pretty. All sorts of horrible things could go wrong and we always think it only happens to "other people". Sometimes that person is us.

    • @zoemorris3214
      @zoemorris3214 6 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      Liberal 3rd wave feminism (like they’re preaching in the video) suggests that any choice a woman makes is empowering, because she made it, for herself. They made the choice to change their body, so therefore it is a “feminist act”.
      Obviously this whole premise is flawed, but that’s a different can of worms.

To reach complete Englishman you just let go of all desires and follow the middle path in order to end suffering. I really find interesting because it doesn't go to extreme and it's all about moderation. The downside to this is letting go of all desires. We a humans have so many desires such as the desire to go to college or look good, or the desire to have a family. It would be nearly impossible to end your suffering because you will always desire something

I mean, if you have an accident that ruined your nose for instance, if you have the money you can get surgery done for it. But these young girls! They do it because they feel insecure, why? this actually makes me feel so much better, i'm wanting to get plastic surgery once i can afford it and i'm of age cause of how insecure and everything. it reconfirms my mindset that it's ok as long it's for yourself and for no one else

  • @finthehuman3649
    @finthehuman3649 6 ปีที่แล้ว +156

    I feel like some of these girls didn't do it only for themselves because a lot of the times they would mention how other people made fun of them when they were young.
    *That* was what made them insecure in the first place, the fact that other people make them feel bad. I bet if other people didn't do anything to make them feel bad they wouldn't have noticed it.
    They also mentioned their constant use of social media and that's also influencing. When you see that many 'perfect' people, you feel like you should be like that.. when in fact, social media only glorifies the fake versions of people. People need to learn that it's okay that some parts of you aren't as 'normal' as people say they're supposed to be. That's what makes you yourself.

    *'I didn't do it for other people, I did it for myself'* - no, you didn't do it for yourself, you're just brainwashed into thinking that's why you did it. this isn't what a women 'taking control of her body' looks like, lmao... it's what being brainwashed by the media, the cosmetic companies, the whole consumer/producer system looks like.
    my generation claims to be so 'real, honest, & authentic' - but they're so blinded by the media & trends & their own faces and happiness, yet they don't even realize it. which is kinda sad honestly.

    • @professthesidekick
      @professthesidekick 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      why would they ever get surgery 'for themselves'? plastic surgeron's have never made more money than they have been in the last five years. the media basically tells people that they get plastic surgery ''for themselves" because it's easier to tell yourself you're changing the facial structure your ancestors had for generations just for yourself.
      people are scared of being insecure these days, but being insecure will help you grow - if you're insecure about your nose (or whatever), you don't need to change it 'for yourself' - especially when you're sixteen, you should work on accepting yourself regardless of what society says, and overcoming your insecurities to realize that there's more meaning to life - not taking the easy way out and changing it to make yourself feel better, and fit in.

    It’s sad how much people feel they have to change about themselves, and it’s only worsened by society’s unattainable concepts of beauty

  • @cezka
    @cezka 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The only reason why people feel bad about the way they look is because they listen to what others say. And so they try and “change”, going through surgery just to fit in with the unrealistic beauty standards society has set to feel accepted-acceptance, apparently, leads to “empowerment” and “feminism”. They justify this by saying that other celebrities and teenagers have gone through this before and say that plastic surgery is for yourself, not others. Well then, why are you so obsessed with social media? Why obsess over what your followers think about your new selfie?
    You haven’t gone past your insecurities. You’ve simply hidden them.
    True empowerment is not having to change yourself for anything or anyone. Empowerment is contentment.
    Love yourself.

      cezka this is just so true. plastic surgery can even make you more insecure bc you might only start focusing on what you don't have instead of what you have and keep comparing yourself to some unrealistic beauty standards. don't take anything for granted, people and be happy with what you have!

It took 5 laser treatments. I never considered that plastic surgery and I am happy I was able to get it done

    What kind of parents...
    And don't even talk to me about the nipples one.
    It's obvious when they talk about social media they and their models how superficial their thinking is. Sad
