Teacher here married to another teacher and we plan to be net worth millionaires. I have to say, I don’t know if I agree with the teacher philosophy… It’s a job for me and pays what I need it to. Not much “finding deep meaning”. It’s a very difficult job but it’s paying the bills and allowing us to live our level of comfort. I also don’t like the idea that teachers do it for the “impact”. There are several reasons why teachers go into teaching and it is not always just the impact. Did the Ramsey network actually speak to teachers or are they coming up with this stuff themselves?

Agreed. I went to law school to become a millionaire. No regrets. I’m not looking to save the whales or do the lords work. Ill let other people do that

I want to note that teacher are VERY POORLY paid though, and a better paycheck might help to make them focus on the better meaning

Some states pay significantly better than others for teachers. Might be worth a move.

I am quite annoyed at what people in the government school system make compared to the results (students/graduates) they put out. I understand that the administration is mostly to blame. But, that doesn’t change the results. I have no interest in putting more money in government schools. My wife and I send our child to a private school. Coming to the conclusion of that specific school was well researched. Not all private schools are created equal.

It depends where you live. There are some teachers in Maryland saying they make 100k a year teaching us history for 14 years and 50 years old.

For people like me the three-to-six months of emergency fund is simply unthinkable, three to six DAYS is more realistic

As someone who thought the same thing 4 years ago I can say start with the 3 days. Then, move it up to 4 days, then 5. It took us several months to build a $1,000 emergency fund. We see the benefits now, but 4 years ago it seemed ridiculous to stick that extra $1.47 in the savings account. Taking those first steps that seem so small they don’t matter really do matter. It adds up.

Why are you still employed by Ramsey? You know nothing about work, careers, or personal finance. You've had a HELOC and a 30 yr mortgage (hmmm do you get a pass from Dave?).

Taking advice about falling behind in life from a guy who never fell behind in life is the last thing I'd do.
