Went to a timeshare presentation once. Couldn't get out, so played a Dave Ramsey timeshare rant on full volume on my phone. It was a free pass out!
I make the telemarketers that call me listen to Alex Jones on full blast
Omg that is a good deal
LOL very smart.
This is brilliant
That's genius!
I'll never forget the look of utter despair in the salesman's eyes at the end of the presentation when my dad said he wouldn't be buying. I was 10.
Your Dad was a good man.
The most common line I use with anything like this (timeshare, car, whatever) is "I don't make big financial decisions like this without sleeping on it".
You got that right. We are proud vacation club owners with HGVC since 2008. Me and my wife, took a year to decide, if we wanted to purchase or not. We paid cash, so we only pay maintenance fees and taxes. It was funny, we wouldn't budge on buying and they sold us for, $150, a VIP five day stay in an Orland Fl. two-bedroom condo unit. (We we're going to Disney World, for the first time) We had a great time and that's when we made our purchase.
We knew we wanted to buy, before our trip. We played hard to get for about an hour, having them to go down on the price, then told them we wanted to buy and pay cash. You should have saw the look on that guy's face. Needless to say, it's been a blessing for us.
mine is "hahahaha" as I'm walking away
I always tell them I have to talk to my spiritual advisor before making any financial decision.
I’m in sales and went to one of these to get a free vacation. I understand the tactics… safe to say I left without a timeshare and a free vacation 💪🏻
The first step is admitting you made the mistake. It sounds like she realized it and is truly trying to fix it. 👍 best of luck to her on it
And not in a self deprecating way.
first step here is worthless. even dave says its near impossible to get out
^That really sucks people can't get out that easy.
Men know, live with your mistake
This is why personal finances should matter to everyone. Screwing yourself over has never been easier than it is today.
We got out of a timeshare, but had to pay in addition for a lawyer and lost all the money we paid. 25k
Trust me, in the long term you DEFINITELY made the right decision. Consider yourself one of the lucky few to rid yourself of these timeshare money pits.
“We have the spiritual gift of confrontation” 😂 I love that - I have that gift too, much to my family’s dismay!
Get Project Veritas on this one .. 😜👏 … actually watching Ken Coleman with hidden cameras & mic would be amazing ..Do it Ken ! 😇 👏👏
God I wish true journalism was still alive. Veritas should be on every mainstream news show with every big story they drop. This country is circling the drain
Ken Coleman, " How simpleminded do you think I am." That's the truth if you bought a time share you are a half-wit. I think caller should be more worried about this.
*You can try to checkout anytime you like, but you can never leave*
Don Henley and the boys had to be singing about timeshare companies for sure!
I got to sit through a 2-hour long complete and utter torture listening to a lady waste my time trying to convince me of buying a time share in Florida. She kept bringing down the price and I very firmly kept saying “NO”! I was so angry because she wouldn’t let me leave for an appointment I had elsewhere. She didn’t win though. I did not give in… THANK GOD! She was fuming when I got up and left! 😏
How did she not let you leave? I hear stories about them locking the door so no one can leave the room, but I always wondered if that would be considered 'kidnapping' because you are detained against your will.
Wouldn't let you leave? That's kidnapping. Call the authorities.
If you left, you wouldn't get your free gift...right?
Hahaha I embarrassed about it but I sat through it too and they're just way too persistent which should be a huge red flashing strobes flag 🤣
what do you mean not allowed to leave
get up
walk out
I inherited a timeshare from my grandparents. Luckily it was paid off, but I had to pay the maintenance fees which continued to increase. I had to pay a lawyer to get out of the timeshare. It was the best decision I made to get rid of it. And Dave is right, someone ended up buying my timeshare for a $1.
You should have disclaimed the gift. You probably didn’t know, and didn’t know at that point what a mess the timeshare would be.
Were you forced to take it? I'm just wondering how it works.
@@JWalton314 You can’t be forced, and transferring title required paperwork and I’m sure a notarized signature. I think she must have done all of this not knowing this gift was problematic. She only learned that after owning it awhile.
How much were those maintenance fees?
I wasn’t forced to take it. I was in my early 20’s when I was gifted it. I also went on multiple trips with my grandparents and we used their timeshare when they were alive and healthy. Luckily a few years after I inherited it, my friend worked for a business that helped folks get out of timeshares. She helped me with the process and I also got a small discount regarding the fees. I got rid of my timeshare over 10 years ago, and thank god I did.
I love going to the presentations and getting free stuff!!! Usually, i'll give them the most vague answers and also once that time limit hits I stand up and tell them its been 60 min.
You're obviously a sado-masochist (spelling?) who enjoys pain....
The volume change on Dave as soon as he hears “Timeshare” 😆
🤣🤣🤣
Great work, Kenneth, with your corduroy, sleek-looking oxford.
Omg! Please send Ken! I’ve always wanted to see inside one of those meetings.
We stayed at a time share condo for less than the maintenance fees. We happened to find a deal for a week and talked to a time share owner. He was so disheartened to hear that we paid far less for the week than he pays for in yearly dues for his week. Cheaper trip and no loan or commitment!
My neighbors bought a timeshare in Mexico. They refer to it as “our resort that we own.” They tried to unload the week of Thanksgiving on me once. Yeah, right . . . 😂
Lol
That's like buying syphilis or worse.... better yet, I'd rather get syphilis....it's cheaper to fix. ......
@@dancalmpeaceful3903 😂
I wouldn’t go to Mexico if it were free
@@teeduck I would! I love exploring.
I'm reminded of the SOuth Park episode that covered free time share vacations. 😀
Please send someone from Ramsey into a time share meeting and just have them be annoying as can be haha. That would be hilarious.
They have to now 😂 I’d pay to see that
Yes please!!!!
I would like to see a Project-Veritas style investigation
@@jamesmartinezz they really have to do that - I would pay a movie ticket and go sit w popcorn and watch it!
💯💯💯 This would be great!
With the amount of fraud that goes on and unscrupulous and predatory behavior in the timeshare, industry. Why haven't these horrible investments been deemed illegal? So glad I got out of this horrible money pit years ago.
The big guys get a %.
Yes! I wanna see Ken go undercover and destroy a timeshare salesman in a presentation. Hidden camera, hidden mic, fake nose, and a wig. Yes! Do it! Do it!
Yes!! I would love to watch this!
I did that!!! It was brutal fun
The way Ken roasts John at 6:50.😂😂😂
I have done these over and over!! And trust me everything Dave says I 100% agree with. I LOVE messing with these scumbags, I will take my free stuff gladly from them and make it a challenge on how fast they will let me leave!! It's awesome, just don't ever do them unless you have the same mind set as me.
I went to a timeshare presentation in Mexico and they enticed us with free breakfast and some free outdoor activities like jet skis and going parasailing so we went and the timeshare rep sat with us at the table as we were eating and tried to get us to buy. We told him we weren’t the entire time and he kept asking why. Super pushy. I was barely 18 at the time and we made a quick exit as soon as we could lol. Needless to say we didn’t even enjoy the free breakfast and didn’t even ask about the free activities we just wanted out !
I went to a resort in Mexico. We saw a really attractive man at breakfast every morning. He was dressed for vacation, but expensively. He’d say good morning, then have breakfast with a couple. Different people every morning. One day he explained that he worked for the company and was “meeting with the investors.” Turns out he was selling timeshares. Lol. I thought these were wealthy people checking up on the property.
Happening to us in Jamaica no way
Yes - when you are 18....you are stupid....however, you WERE smart enough to leave.....
Went to one of those one time just like you said absolutely a tiger cage. And when we didn't buy anything they were really upset and the guy said get him out of here LoL. Wasn't worth three nights stay at a hotel
Bear trap is what he said.
@@genxx2724
He also said tiger cage if you had listened to the whole video. Go be Correctamundo man somewhere else
@@genxx2724 👎
@@miss_sunshine25 😂
Do it!! GO undercover!!
Burst out laughing at my job when Dave said “we are the only two left” 🤣🤣🤣
I love when Dave gets triggered by the word timeshares 😂
I love Dave correcting the Freudian slip from “better half” to correction “other half!” Hoping he meant “better off half”.
Sounds like she wants to make a second bad decision next and buy a house with a fiance. Don't buy a house with someone you aren't married too. "Playing house" doesn't count as marriage. 😥
Women rarely ever lose in this situation.. poor guy 84% chance she catches a case of the "I'm not happy"
This only affects men
My friend's parents want to give him the time share in Hawaii (for free) but he said "thanks but no thanks" lol. We went to Cabo, Mexico one time and the people at the airport didn't leave us along, they kept bugging us with these timeshares until we got in the taxi.
It was very annoying.
thats messed up that his own parents want to set him up for financial stress just to get themselves out of it. It be your own people smh...
Thank you for sharing this, the important thing is we learn.
I love the idea of personalities going undercover to catch these guys in action
Exactly! Just like the MANY undercover stings to catch potential child molesters. They each have their own TH-cam channel. That being said, I don't have any more respect for timeshare companies than I do for child molesters. Both are equally as sick and vile as the other.
Just hearing this story I rather take a vacation in my back yard it’s free lol
You can go on a real vacation cheaper than a timeshare.
Sit in a lawn chair with your feet in a bucket of water and a nice glass of lemonade.
I take vacation I even budget on spending when I’m on vacation
For the fees you pay....over the long term....you will NEVER spend THAT much on vacation.....ever.
@@genxx2724 😂😂
I went to a time share event, ate the free breakfast listened to the presentation then left. My sister and were broke single parents on vacation. We just saw it as a free meal for us and our kids.
Timeshares have got to be the all time worst financial decision & regret that anyone could ever make. At least with payday loans you can pay off and wholelife insurance you can sell that day and get out of it. But with timeshares, no matter what you do, you can't get rid of those leaches. I've never had one, thank God. But by hearing some of these calls, it sounds like once you are in one you are in one for life no matter what you do or how much money you have thrown to them. I can see why Dave hates them so much. They are sickening.
I just googled for the heck of it and you can cancel them within 5-15 days of purchase.
how many days does one have to cancel the whole life insurance? Whats the problem with whole life insurance anyway?! Dave doesn't talk about it as much as he does timeshares or at least I haven't seen those videos yet.
Oh my, you have to send Ken to one of those and video tape it!! Please do!!!
You guys have GOT to do that show!
Had a friend that sold timeshares just to see if he could do it. Told me they have a system called “the power” and its for the top salesmen and its the only people who make any real money. So the bottom 90 percent are trying to make it the power by outselling. No other thing puts you there.
Did your friend ever make it to the power?
As soon as I saw the headline I said the caller must have co-signed. Co-signing for a family member is the worst financial decision I’ve ever made in my life and it’s not even close.
YES Ken, do it! It would be amazing!
The Ramsey Show should buy a timeshare and then do a series showing the frustration of trying to book a property, the places they actually get to go (they won’t be the beautiful resorts or posh European hotels advertised in the brochure) and the bills.
My in laws have a timeshare in Florida. Its a very basic condo in a small beach front community. When we visit them, we can book a nicer place in the same area for less money every time. They are simple people who were sooooo proud of their "Florida place" the first couple years, then every year they go less and less and seem to love it wayyy less. They sell their unwanted weeks occasionally for more money like a peak season, but more often they go unused. Deep down I'm sure they know they wasted their money but they're way to proud to admit it.
I believe they can effectively make a documentary or series w/o subjecting another person to that slavery. "Borrowed Future" didn't have anyone go into student loan debt just for the documentary to happen. Talking to the victims is enough.
@@autistic-lutheran-carnivore The Ramsey Show isn’t a “person” being “subjected to slavery.” It’s a corporation and all the costs would be business expense. They could even probably spin off a new corporation to buy the time share and then file bankruptcy if they were so inclined. But I agree they could do a documentary showing someone trying to use their timeshare, and show all their contracts and bills.
@@genxx2724 Ramsey isn't gonna give them any money, not even for making a documentary. I'm pretty sure it's a matter of principle for him not to give them a dime. XD
Dave PLEASE PLEASE send him in with a mic. I would die laughing hahahahaha
My ex husband dragged me to a time share meeting. He was all in. I stood my ground and said “ we want the free dinner and will talk about this” got the lousy food and left.
A deal that is not good tomorrow, is terrible today.
“Spiritual gift of confrontation!”
Hidden camera! Do it! 😂
My mom and I went to one of these presentations. As I was listening to the gentleman explain the way time shares worked. I thought about the money that would be spent to purchase, could just be put away for a hotel stay. It made no sense to me to pay for something that other's would be using as well and making the same payments if not more. But everyone would be responsible for maintenance fees as well. We of course pass.
I was thinking the same thing. The only perk I seen was the free vacation or free tickets they give you but you often get those anyway whether you sign or not. So what's the point?! 🤷♀
Me and my wife went to one the those meetings and they almost got us. We eventually said no but they kept on sending new presenters until we walked out.
Just checked eBay, actual price $12.50 ;)) and someone is apparently bidding on it, poor people ;(((
I used Wesley Financial to get out of my timeshare. But mine was paid off. Not sure how difficult it would be with an outstanding mortgage. It cost about $4500.
One of the top worst "financial investments" anyone can make.
Please do the hidden camera thing with the timeshare con-men
Send Ken!!! Do it!!
Ya the under cover documentary on time share would be great follow up to borrowed future!!!!
What does it take to stop people from buying these things?? I don't understand why they do?
Some people are totally gullible
Same reason people buy 50K cars they cannot afford. Slick salesman
@@alinatamashevich3354 Just say no. It's not hard. That's what I did. Twice. It's not the salesperson's fault that people are stupid.
@@jimroscovius I am never getting near one of those slime balls. I am Hilton Diamond and Delta Platinum, with 482K sky miles.
@@alladreamwedreamed That doesn't explain making dumb decisions.
My husband and I visited a timeshare presentation with the intent to receive the free items. That's what we did. I received a fur coat and a TV. We didn't purchase anything. We were not about to be scammed.
Mobile parks are the same, you will get stuck and won’t get out. You can’t rent your house and if you try and sell, they have to approve for next person to come in, if they don’t like you they won’t allow anyone to replace you.
"Well have to get his blood pressure machine" 😆
I hope they do the undercover. That would be great to watch.
Ken, please go undercover to the Time Share presentation! You would be an instant viral sensation. I would love to see what you would do to them.
Yes, send a hidden camera in! I have never been even offered a time share but I’d love to see an obnoxious sales person shut down
Please send him in with a camera. I’d love to see what goes on in these presentations and I’d LOVE to see him send them three the ringer.
I went to a timeshare meeting just for the free breakfast. I had no idea what it was but knew I wasn't about to give them my money.
The Timeshare Tricksters!!😂😂
We got many of those offers for free but we have to join a meeting. I was dropping their calls for months.
My husband wanted to go and get free vacation and not buying any package, I said I am not and never going there. go by yourself.
So he didn’t.
Please please do an undercover camera
Timeshares should be made ILLEGAL. Never, EVER, EVER sign up for a Timeshare...EVER. Good luck ...GET A LAWYER. My aunt and uncle took YEARS to get rid of their Shitshare. Basically, it took a professional company to finally CUT THEM free from this financial NIGHTMARE.
My grandma has a time share with well resorts lol, but that was after they retired
I don't know why people buy these worthless things. 40 years ago we listened to a presentation and just said no. They kept trying, we kept saying no. They gave us our tickets to a show right away and we kept saying no. Haven't gone to one since. They gave up when I said, "I can go on a lot of vacations for what that costs for one week."
Let's do it! I'll go along too.
I've been in the tiger cage and I'm proud to say I got out alive, But I'm never going back: It it doesn't worth a sunny afternoon in Cancun (I don't even remember what we got for free)
I took a trip to Mexico for a friends wedding. My friends all went to presentation for something I can’t remember what. They all tried to get me to go along and I just wouldn’t go. I can’t even remember what they were offering but it wasn’t worth wasting two or more hours of my trip to me. So I spent the time they sat in the pool with a drink.
Um... It's only $14k. Just get it paid off and then do what you want with it. Either use it or sell it or let it go.
On the next Dave Ramsey show...
"Ken Coleman buys a timeshare." 😆
airbnb make timeshare uterlly useless now
The spiritual gift of confrontation. Classic
My sister got a timeshare and the first thing she said was don't tell mom and dad. The second time she mentioned the share she said she got a personal loan to buy off the share.
Gotta be honest... my first thought was that it is some dude calling and saying he got married! LOL
I do well at those time share meetings. They usually can’t wait to get rid of me.
After my husband said his final NO to the salesman, the young man was still forced to show us the rooms as that was part of the pitch. He wasn’t very happy about it.
There was at least one that did a radio contest and everyone that called in they declared the winner. I know because I called the number again and they professed I had won again. Free trip to Florida or Las Vegas. Have not heard the contest again since but after looking over the paperwork they sent me I realized that it was a timeshare scheme. Never went of course. Thankfully I never went!
Please do the hidden camera video! I’d pay to watch that comedy 😂
Once signed do customers have 30 days to retract the transaction?
Please Ken do it! It would be great to watch:)
Jimmy Super Fly Snuka was very entertaining back in the 80s. Even though most of the matches were staged, there was no faking flying through the air the way he did. Nice reference Ken!
"Spiritual gift of confrontation." 😆🤣😂
Do it Ken! Go stir it up!
How to wake Ramsey up? Say the word TIMESHARE!!!!!
It’s like a cattle prod. Lol
"I'd like to go in there with a hidden camera." Timeshares know that trick. If you start poisoning the well (that is, your fellow audience in the sales room) with good arguments or confident rebuttals, they will kick you out.
Some of them will "invite" you to a special room where they will sit you down and just leave you there alone indefinitely just to punish you.
Even though time shares are bear traps, there should be other types of exit teams. Ever try to cancel your cable or phone plan?
Kens response lol 🤣
I sat through a time share presentation for a free ticket to Universal Studios. Man did they try to sell me. But I wouldnt budge! Just the theme park access please. 😉
Please I would love to watch him how do you drive a sales person up the wall!!!
Dave: Who do you think you are Tiger King 😂😂
Needing a time share to rent a condo is like needing an HOA to buy a house.
HOA fees are not the same as a timeshare, at all.
You would think AirBnB would have put these people out of business but people still fall for it.
@@wittyusername9544 People who buy timeshares do not have a clue about booking a resort/condo/hotel on their own.
You pick up the phone! Or search online! And save $100's/$1000's!!
Hoa is completely different.. lol
@@soonermagic24 But equally horrible.
I will always go to the meetings when they pay. They never win with me. 😂
I always lie to the liars. When I get approached, I say I just lost my 30k a year job. When I go anyplace selling services for a home ie windows or hvac. Sorry I rent an apartment.
I’d pay to see Ken Coleman go in with a mic.
