Honestly I would love to play this game on console, given how hard it is to get or keep a working laptop that will play swtor, I'm so ready for this game to finally be on consoles.
For people who say it can’t come to consoles. Do they not know that the Hero Engine for SWOTOR was the same exact engine Elder Scrolls Online used??? Also too many buttons for controllers? Bro, have you played BioWares Dragon Age Origins? You have 30+ spells, party commands, weapon swaps, healing & attack commands all on 1 radial dial & 9 different commands on just the letter pad. There is no reason why it can’t be on consoles. The Engine has been used for consoles for 10+yrs & BioWare games with 40+ buttons & commands on been on 360 era consoles.
I have been wanting swtor on console for a very long time. I love that game so much. But unfortunately I have been unable to play it for a long time. My laptop I used to play it on doesn't work anymore. And I haven't been able to afford a new one. I mean seriously look at how successful originally just pc mmos have been doing on console. A good example is ESO that game is great. And has been very successful on console.
I sincerely hope it'll come to console's soon. I've always wanted to play this game but couldn't. My old laptop is very bad and it's a slideshow with this game. But the bits I did play were fun. But outside of that one hour experience & those amazing cinematics, I haven't been able to try & play the game. I would be so happy if it did. Mayhaps a radial menu and some tweaks for QOL support for consoles. But yeah...fingers crossed.
I believe it is possible fans have been at this for years. DC universe online is on console. Same can also be said for Xeonoverse 2. It would also be a good idea for swtor be an offline mode while still retaining online option as well. We definitely need to have a tech based mandalorian bounty hunter option. As well as having to switch to any combat styles at anytime along with the cartel market currency for us to do this option.
swtor was the first game i tried on my Steam Deck, just to see if it couild be done. it ran very well, better than the 2011 laptop if first used back at launch, and while remapping for keys had to be done, it worked great
As a founder/subscriber I'd be happy for them to do anything to increase the player count and don't do obnoxious limits like limiting the amount of times F2P players can queue for WZ and other events content. Personally the only limits I would put on F2P is just don't give them any XP boost items or rested XP boost effects, no limits on anything else. More players improves the experience of everyone and keeps us subscribers more likely to stay subscribed.
@@regidon6816 just wanted to make the point I'm not a F2Per just complaining about F2P restrictions. Some restrictions placed on F2P actually makes things worse for everyone not just F2Pers. As for why mention founder? To show I'm old, been around seen how/why the community's dwindled over the years.
Game would need a DX 12 backend that actually uses multithreading. The consoles have an ancient Zen at low hz. Until DX 12 happens there is no way this is happening.
After experiencing the gameplay for Throne and Liberty, and how you're required to basically use two separate buttons per ability via the "dropdown menu". This does seem to be the way it will have to be as well for Swtor, at least with the current design of rotations in each spec. So with that being said, I think it will feel terrible to play on controller, just like Throne and Liberty does. The only pc-exclusive mmorpg that is obviously going to play really well on controller is New World. Being that it was originally designed to be playable on controller as well as m&k. If Swtor doesn't wanna scare console folks away right off the bat, they'll need to downsize the amount of required keybinds by a huge amount.
I remember playing this game before they added the starfighters..i would actually totally get back into this game on console..main reason why i don’t play it now anyways
Honestly the monetisation model was a bit weird to me for a while now, because effectively you only need a sub to raid or to hold more than 1m so that appeals to a relatively small part of the playerbase. When i stopped raiding last year i dropped my sub, bought artifact authorisation with cc i had from sub and seasons and its perfectly playable. Plus i still get all new updates from the current expansion cycle for free. Meaning you can play everything buying a sub once every few years at the current development speed which will probably be reflected in the money they make from this game. Now when i dropped swtor i went back to lotro that as a 17 year old game still requires you to purchase the newest expansion, plus content access through sub is only for the duration of the sub. But they make consistent quarterly updates and more or less an expansion and an instance cluster (usually 1 raid, 2-3 dungeons) per year. Which effectively is way more content than swtor while probably having a smaller playerbase as well. Monetisation for that game is a bit harsh in my opinion, or was outright predatory before they reworked it a few years back, but it gave me the idea swtors concept of handing you all content for a one time sub and free cc through sub and seasons (and previously referal) might be hurting the long term profitability and with that development of the game. So yeah interesting you mentioned it.
Right when I heard it was coming to Mac I listed my gaming laptop for sale. I only had it for this game, now my M2 MacBook will get its time to shine! Also if it came to consoles I would switch to that then! Also you CAN connect mouse and keyboard to consoles!
A couple of things to make this beautiful. * Make all of the operations, Flashpoint, and unique quests SOLOABLE! *Bring back 6.0 gearing. *Make every non-origin companion characters available. There are some stories locked behind multi-player content, and well, that needs to end. The main attraction going forward is story content and Cartel market drip. Lean into that. *You wouldn't get achievements or anything like that. Just checks in the story progression so you can experience it all.
Remember the consoles got full mouse and keyboard support, many games got full mouse and keyboard support so SWTOR would just do like the rest, launch with support for controller and M&K on the consoles 👍🏻 ESO got the same sub model on consoles and it works perfectly, nobody got any problem with it, even FF14 got the old school sub system like wow uses and nobody minds that either. I play ESO on console and it plays amazing and I like the sub model, you get the full game + all dlc’s and expansions + extra sub goodies like a bag for all your crafting stuff, that bag is so important it’s like the credit limit in SWTOR without it you are kind of F if you want to play the endgame. I think it’s a good way to do it, I think it’s PC players who aren’t a fan, remember we are already use to pay for Gamepass + paying for the right to play online 👍🏻 SWTOR on Xbox would do what the rest of the B2P MMO’s are doing, base game coming to Game Pass and you can then sub in the game for the rest, like ESO and FF14, I really like this system, but I’m also a console newb now, left PC behind many years ago. I’m really looking forward to turn on my old legacy account, I play day on and 3 years in, I got some really old school legacy items, like the illum PvP mount 😜
Since I got a steam deck, I've been playing various MMOs like FFXIV, WoW Classic and even Swtor with a controller. Granted, the Steam Deck does have some extra buttons and track pads that do make playing an MMO super comfortable. Without modifying these games in any way, they work wonderfully and can work just fine without a trackpad. Then in the case of a game like FFXIV, we've seen them make the game very user friendly on controller for PS4 and PC. I can confidently say that any MMO can be playable in a satisfactory way given enough care by the developers.
I've been trying to play SWTOR on my Steam Deck, but I haven't found a control layout that feels right to me. I know I should probably just take the best layout and tweak it, but i have a hard time mustering the patience for it. I would be super happy to have a console version.
I used to play SWTOR with a controller using steam input. I made my own custom config that used swtorista as a starting template. I was able to bind 50+ abilities(55 keybinds in total from memory)and could do any content in the game. Only thing was GSF funny enough cud not work with steam input but with official support it wud work. I tried years ago to tell the devs but nobody would believe me. I’ve been meaning to make a video on it forever. So yes SWTOR could be played on controller and get a console port. Which I always wanted but the devs said “not possible” which I never believed. Console port and crossplay is obvious different but controller is 100% doable and also the obvious Final fantasy 14 as well so there cud b many options.
I was able to get the game controlling basically perfectly for steam deck (it also runs better then my trash laptop) especially since I only really play solo content so it works pretty well. The multi buttons on the deck is definitely a big bonus but the game definitely can be optimized for mainstream console support. This is pure cope but a successful console release might honestly be the only remaining opportunity to perhaps get the game rolling again. If it's done properly then I believe the selling point of it being star wars (in particular Old Republic era) and having the ability to create your own character in the galaxy and an overall very solid base game could be something that is appealing to many people. But that's probably too much to ask.
@@SWCentral This would never happen but if the ever did get the game running on consoles (especially if it's current gen) then I would love to hear how they got it to work technology wise.
Current consoles can run the game, i'm sure. It's good for the game to be on more platforms and get more players. But, the greatest issue with the game has always been one: content support. Until there is a proper expansion plan like other mmo's do, the game will always be on the downward. Do proper expansions (and the only thing close to it was shadow of revan) and the game will grow again.
I do hope this does come to consoles. This game has been on my radar ever since I saw the animated trailers. I'm not a fan of mtx or the idea of pay to play. I wouldn't mind playing the base game and then get a bundle of the expansions. Though, my last concern would be storage space.
The main thing keeping me from playing swore tour again is that I no longer wish to play on PC and have switched to console if it came to console not only would I play but I would subscribe and buy into it the story is amazing and it is easily one of my favorite MMOs I ever got to play unfortunately on PC it has become increasingly more expensive to maintain a computer rather than just getting a console that maintains itself more or less
As a newer player to the game this actually excites me even tho im a PC player as lets be frank the game doesnt have a huge playerbase and when you open up a new platform to play a game on you bring in new players how many? We dont know but more players bring more money and more money brings the potential of better updates for the game and story. And even as a PC player id be more willing to spend money if i see content coming along. Im about to start shadow of reven on my first character and ive only bought one cosmetic as i have enough cartel tokens from my subscription to buy it. There are many others im interested in but i also dont want to send my money into a dead project. And im sure im not alone this could bring the game back to a super strong lv while i dont believe this game will ever overtake wow or final fantasy as its been lagging behind to much i think it could definitely have a bright future. As a newer player which is loving the game but concerned that my time could shut down any second i hope this is true. And the evidence provided does seem to lean towards it being true.

i really hope this happens, i've tried some of the player made controller layouts but couldn't get the hang of it, they still felt finnicky (for lack of a better word) whereas if the devs made an official layout and programing it would more than likely feel a lot better.
If this is True this is Gonna Be Amazing (while I think the Expasions could have Treated Better Revan and The Exile) I easily think this Game is Kinda Kotor 3 that We Want it or Not and At Least Gave Some Closure to The Characters soo having it On my Xbox Series X Angloside Kotor 1 and 2 is Like Having All of the Dead Spaces or Mass Effect (and The Graphics and Gameplay Looks Insane). Ps Let’s Cross our Fingers and Hope it will Release on all the Consoles!
Using a controller to deal with the 20+ abilities seems unnecessarily painful. The story parts wouldn't really be an issue, but some of the raids really need you to be on top of your game. I really hope they don't dumb it down any more than they have... I miss the customizability that it had years ago, don't want it to get even more mindless and samey.
If you asked me that a few years ago, i'd say no. But with technology nowadays probably. SWTOR is a tap-targetting game with more then 30+ Buttons that u need to press if not more and Mobility is key, i did not see that happening at all back then with a controller. But controllers having the ability to have litteral Mini-keyboards attached to them now, could make it a possibility. I wouldn't play swtor with a controller while honestly when playing games such as Elder Ring or Star Wars Outlaws i'm the first to attach a Controller to my PC, because in those games i'm not good with Keyboard + Mouse. SWTOR needs a Revive, and it coming to console could bring up the player numbers more.
Controller support is the number one thing holding me back from the game. You see, I normally work on my PC and game on a console or Steam Deck. While I understand there is great controller settings made by fans, I'd find native to be better and that is because I tend to forget which buttons do what. Either-way I'd kill for native controller support or even a console release. It is the one major hurdle for me.
I would still play on pc, but would absolutely use controller 100% of the time. It's always what I prefer. I'm hoping for this and for them to do graphical updates to the rest of the base game. Then I'll jump back on for sure.
This was a GREAT rts game and if it makes it to console, that would ensure it will survive. Controller would only be a problem for multiplayer, but for single player, easy!
Loved the game on pc. Played the open beta and later the full version for afew years. Then work got busy, and my pc died a little later for some reason, and I didn't bother fixing it and switched to console gaming. Much more reliable platform for a casual player. Anyway, I'd be super happy if this actually came to console. It's by far one of my favorite games. Although mmorpgs are very time-consuming
I've been a huge fan of SWTOR for a few years now. But only through TH-cam because I'm a console/PS5 player. I would love to play this game but time will tell. I'm Hopeful though 🤔
Compare to some other MMOs, SWTOR suffers from a large button bloat. An juggernaut tank for example can easily have to use 20+ abilities on the regular in flashpoint and operation, including offensive and defensive CDs. And that doesn't even take into account everything you need to click outside combat to get to your character sheet, inventory, the various screen (conquest, mission, chapters), even toggling the map or playing some emote like sitting or drawing your sword. I don't see it unless a major reforge of the combat system is happening, which would be a huge endeavor.
Haven’t played SWTOR in years. If it came to console at some point in the next year I’d absolutely playthrough it again. If it came with MNK support on console I’d end up playing nothing else but SWTOR
I’ve been asking for this since the game launched. Would easily become the number one mmorpg on console and would definitely make it more populated overall until WoW eventually comes to console if that ever happens.
They just gotta look at different games that have many abilities. A great example would definitely be Baldurs Gate 3. Not saying they should copy them but to help them get some ideas on how to support controller.
PLEASE< PLEASE BE TRUE, If this game came to the console id play the hell out of it again just like i did when i use to play it on pc. ive always wanted it to come to the console.
I hope you’re right because I used to play this when this game originally came out but had to quit due to an accident that resulted with multiple fractures to my right wrist. I can use a controller without a lot of pain, discomfort or numbness but not a mouse.
There a few way ways to use controller at the moment, if you’re willing to give them a shot it could help you play the game again even if just for the story!
@SWCentral unfortunately after that accident I had to make a decision on a platform, due to being on disability and a fixed income, that worked for me and I went with the Xbox. I had bought my first gaming PC just for the SWTOR release. The last dlc I played, to the best of my memory, was about the twins. It could’ve been the next one dropped though because I haven’t been keeping track of the game as much.
ESO plays great with a controller, they could definitely make it work! I’m mainly on Xbox and the only PC game I’ve really played is SWTOR. It’s my favorite SW game and I’d have to apologize to everyone in my life if it ever came to console 😂 a huge “re-release” campaign would be hype!

If it does come to consoles, I'm pre-ordering it, probably the most expensive edition. And I subscribed to your channel. Please post any new developments on swtor coming to consoles. I'm going to turn on notifications also. Man I'm so excited.😊
If I hear anything new, you peeps will be the first to know!
If Star Trek online can have console support added after 6 years, then there's no reason it can't happen for SWTOR.
The prime example is really BG3
More players improves the experience of everyone and keeps us subscribers more likely to stay subscribed.
why did u add "as a founder/subscriber" lol wot does tht add to your comment..
If it came to console that would be huge! ESO is on console and it's actually pretty active
I’m praying on both knees a Star Wars mmo on console would hit different
Interesting. Would be interested in which consoles would be available
SWTOR is an ancient game, I'm pretty sure it could run on last gen consoles and Switch
There's already bigger MMOs on those consoles too
As long as they DONT do the same thing as FF14:make the subscription mandatory, i'll be happy
If it's on PS you know it will be.
@@OG-ColorfulAbyss. Concord Tax…it’s expected that they will
After experiencing the gameplay for Throne and Liberty, and how you're required to basically use two separate buttons per ability via the "dropdown menu".
All I'm saying is that swtor coming to console would help me get back into the game, BIG TIME.
I’d definitely get back into it if it came to console and I know thousands would!
I remember playing this game before they added the starfighters..i would actually totally get back into this game on console..main reason why i don’t play it now anyways
Im excited for more SWTOR developments in preparation for the KOTOR remake around the corner
I pray to god that this comes to fruition. Not only would it be awesome, but it would likely breathe new life into the game.
Remember the consoles got full mouse and keyboard support, many games got full mouse and keyboard support so SWTOR would just do like the rest, launch with support for controller and M&K on the consoles 👍🏻
ESO got the same sub model on consoles and it works perfectly, nobody got any problem with it, even FF14 got the old school sub system like wow uses and nobody minds that either.
I think it’s a good way to do it, I think it’s PC players who aren’t a fan, remember we are already use to pay for Gamepass + paying for the right to play online 👍🏻
SWTOR on Xbox would do what the rest of the B2P MMO’s are doing, base game coming to Game Pass and you can then sub in the game for the rest, like ESO and FF14, I really like this system, but I’m also a console newb now, left PC behind many years ago.
I’m really looking forward to turn on my old legacy account, I play day on and 3 years in, I got some really old school legacy items, like the illum PvP mount 😜
Love the comment!
Hope it happens
Another thing that might help is you can use keyboard/mouse on ps5 and xbox, which would help
Sounds neat I'd be open to trying it on console
I wish a new Star Wars MMORPG would go into development instead of this.
ESO is and ESO uses the same engine.
This would bring so much money in the game!
I've been trying to play SWTOR on my Steam Deck, but I haven't found a control layout that feels right to me. I know I should probably just take the best layout and tweak it, but i have a hard time mustering the patience for it. I would be super happy to have a console version.
Agree! The setup is the most hassle but once it’s done, it’s quite cool! Especially for just sitting back and playing some story.
Console port and crossplay is obvious different but controller is 100% doable and also the obvious Final fantasy 14 as well so there cud b many options.
cap
Glad to hear this!
@@SWCentral This would never happen but if the ever did get the game running on consoles (especially if it's current gen) then I would love to hear how they got it to work technology wise.
@@DarkdragonX7 You could try asking the devs that question if you use the forums or are able to catch them during a stream!
this is good news! more players is always a good thing.
I hope if they port it to console they start making more quality content
I do hope this does come to consoles. This game has been on my radar ever since I saw the animated trailers. I'm not a fan of mtx or the idea of pay to play. I wouldn't mind playing the base game and then get a bundle of the expansions. Though, my last concern would be storage space.
just get a pc and downlaod the game, problem solved lol "on my radar" hahahahaha
@@regidon6816 Thanks but no thanks for your unwanted advice.
You can literally get what you want by just subscribing for a month I don’t get it
Swtor coming to console could be interesting
I modded my ps3 controller to play this way back in the day on my laptop. So absolutely possible
Swtor coming to console??? Ohhh baby we gone be rolling deep! Pc is already very populated so more players the better
Pc is very populated ???? What do you mean ? Swtor is 7k player at best (only steam) its nowhere near populated for an mmo
@@Koppa_Cabana I see tons of players on the regular and never struggle to find teams to do content or pvp etc so I’m just speaking from my experience when I log in
Only 2 servers are populated just enough to make any activity pop on a regular basis.
But even on these you can see a lot of issue driven by the lack of sufficient playerbase :
Matchmaking not working
Backfilling not working
Struggle to find tanks or healers for NiM or even Hm ops
Queuing against the same people again and again
Premade not facing other premades … etc
@@Koppa_Cabana lol bro go complain elsewhere I don’t care I’m enjoying the game. If you not, find something else to do.
@@darealmephiles wtf I not complaining I’m just explaining to you why Swtor isn’t « very populated »
Why are ppl always so aggressive when we tried to educate them about the game issues
i really hope this happens, i've tried some of the player made controller layouts but couldn't get the hang of it, they still felt finnicky (for lack of a better word) whereas if the devs made an official layout and programing it would more than likely feel a lot better.
Would be amazing, this is the best Star wars MMO. If not basically the only one that could have so much amazing potential, just needs more new people!
I’ve wanted this for so long glad it is finally gonna happen I have some friends on console who love SW but refuse to get computers 😂😂
Can anyone helped me “ your steam account is currently offline “ 😢
Click the go online button?
This might bring me back
If this is True this is Gonna Be Amazing (while I think the Expasions could have Treated Better Revan and The Exile) I easily think this Game is Kinda Kotor 3 that We Want it or Not and At Least Gave Some Closure to The Characters soo having it On my Xbox Series X Angloside Kotor 1 and 2 is Like Having All of the Dead Spaces or Mass Effect (and The Graphics and Gameplay Looks Insane).
Ps Let’s Cross our Fingers and Hope it will Release on all the Consoles!
Would love this to come to console, and hope we’ll get crossplay and cross progression as well
Using a controller to deal with the 20+ abilities seems unnecessarily painful. The story parts wouldn't really be an issue, but some of the raids really need you to be on top of your game.
I really hope they don't dumb it down any more than they have... I miss the customizability that it had years ago, don't want it to get even more mindless and samey.
I'd love for this to be true. Been hoping for it for years. I played it on PC years and years ago, and I loved it!
The game deserves a 2nd life. There's so much good content. The starting areas and flashpoints would be popping nonstop.
It would be a great move if they put it out on console!
I wish there was a open world pvp scene. I havent played in years but would come back if there was some actual incentive to pvp.
Haven’t played SWTOR in years. If it came to console at some point in the next year I’d absolutely playthrough it again. If it came with MNK support on console I’d end up playing nothing else but SWTOR
SWTOR Console Edition. LET'S GOOOOOO!
worked out well for star wars galaxies when they tried the same thing...
I’ve been asking for this since the game launched. Would easily become the number one mmorpg on console and would definitely make it more populated overall until WoW eventually comes to console if that ever happens.
00:02:18 What a newbie!
*swtorcentral logged out*
They just gotta look at different games that have many abilities. A great example would definitely be Baldurs Gate 3. Not saying they should copy them but to help them get some ideas on how to support controller.
I've been hoping/wishing SWTOR would come to console for YEARS!
I’d be so for a console port. More people helps the longevity of the game.
PLEASE< PLEASE BE TRUE, If this game came to the console id play the hell out of it again just like i did when i use to play it on pc. ive always wanted it to come to the console.
I just hope I can bring everything from my PC account to console
@@DocRock1965 I understand my friend. I wish you good health in your future!

Bringing swtor to console would revive this game. Console really needs an MMo Star Wars game
There are many examples of MMO‘s that are on console that work fine with the controller Star Trek online never winter war frame, and those were originally PC games and also for console gamers you can buy keyboard and mouse set up for your consoles if you want to play it the way PC gamers play their games
Give me swtor on console asap
DCUO made it work since ps3 era
Same with FFXIV
I love Star Wars and this would be my main mmorpg if it got controller!!!
I play on controller as is and I can use all skills. This needs to happen! Ty for upload ^^
