    I always pair baggy crops with a more fitted top. And a heel or wedge is a great option.

    I loved this video! A tip that I learned about the length of cropped pants is the rule of the triangle. Stand in front of a mirror with your legs touching. Place the right foot at about 2:00 and the left foot at 10:00. You should notice a triangle around mid calf to the ankle. The length of your pants should end anywhere within the triangle. Mid triangle is considered by some to be the most eye appealing length, but I believe it is a personal preference. I hope this helps!

      The space in between the legs is virtually the same whether my feet are at clock-demo angles or both at noon. I just would say do 4/5th or 80% of your regular inseam. Much easier.

    Oh I love this so much! Every one of your outfits looked top notch. I'm a wide leg fan and I have two pairs of cropped ones. I see what you're talking about with proportions and how crucial they are. Believe it or not I was just trying to make outfits with them this morning. I really struggled, so I resorted to a dress instead for a special luncheon I'm attending. I love your ankle boot with it and the blue denim. It's too hot here in the summer to wear jackets or Blazers so, I bought a few button-down blouses in different shades and am having fun tying them at the waist. I love that idea so much, and you can tie the sleeves around your neck or purse handles when it gets hot mid day.

    Good comments! I am tall and don’t love crops since it reminds me of what issues I have always had with buying regular length pants. Lol! Everything feels like crops. I am wearing them some but also find them to be too short sometimes. It’s weird to have to order y’all’s to get crops right. Crazy times. As I’ve aged, I dress to please me and must do an okay job at it. I get a lot of compliments. Always a work in progress. Love your channel!

    I do like the longer trousers as they elongate the leg but would never wear a long blazer, only ever a shorter version with a nipped in waist, again not easy to find when the fashion is oversized atm. Loved your tips, definitely trying them out!

    Thank you Jamie - a practical guide to wide leg crops, which look amazing on you. Thinking I may even be able to make an ankle length version work for me, probably with some elevation in the heel, paired with a fitted jacket. The rule of thirds is key I guess.
    I love the colour of the shorter pair - brown is my "black" and I've just found my perfect "white" utility jacket, which is ecru, which would look fab with brown.
    You highlighted a great point about a belt. I struggle with belts which, when done well, certainly elevate an outfit. I'd love to see a video about belts, what works and what doesn't. I'm an hourglass and feel my rectangular friends fare better in the belt department, in that they have more "real estate" to play with. So far, have narrowed down to a medium width version looking more in proportion for me, and in a low contrast colour so as to not dissect a small frame. Your expertise would be most welcome. Thank you for all you share with us Jamie. I love your videos and your style.

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only if you want them to be cropped. If they are meant to be full length then they should be longer. Wear a pair of shoes that you will wear with them when you get them hemmed and if full length you want them an inch or so (maybe more maybe less) from the ground, just not dragging the ground and not too much slouch in the front. For cropped see how they look a couple of inches or more above the ankle. You want them to land below the largest part of your calf for a more flattering look. It is going to be different for everyone depending on personal preference. Too short and they look like capri pants which you don't want and too long they just look like your pants are too short.

    I thought the utility jacket looked okay with the brown pants although a waist length one would be better. It did look nice with the longer pants too. I personally prefer a jacket that nips in a bit at the waist. My problem at the moment is that my waist has increased with age ,so tucking in tops always feels as though I’ll look bigger, although I’m slim but it’s all settled in that area. Are there any tips you have?

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's hard for you to tuck than I wouldn't tuck your tops and try to find tops that are a good length and fit your proportions well. Layering with a jacket that nips at the waist is a perfect solution and if you can find faux wrap tops or structured tops that do the same that would be perfect! If you are gaining in your waist try to cinch at the smallest part of your waist which might be higher or lower than your natural waist.

    If the urility jacket cinches or fitted ( but not tight or fit close to uour body ) a little at the waist, it would look great with all your outfit. Great combo outfits.

    Q&A do you agree with the saying that "beauty knows no pain". I'm trying to teach my young teen daughters to put effort into self-care and their appearance including fashion, skin care, and makeup. They're enjoying it and very interested and learning. I feel though that it's a delicate balance because I've been seeing in them both internal and external pressure to look a certain way, and it's hard to know what's healthy and unhealthy thinking. One of my daughters is willing to wear very uncomfortable shoes and wants to go on a diet! My other puts an extra amount of time into her hair and makeup. I just see how it can be confusing for them, because our culture puts so much attention on appearance, and yet if we don't, then we look like we don't care.

      I think dressing appropriately and enjoying fashion can be done sensibly without losing comfort. It's important for women to model behaviour for their children, and I try and emphasize to my girls that one can be nicely dressed, fashionable, care about sustainability and be comfortable all at the same time. Positive body image can be gained from regular exercise and eating healthy without dieting. It's all in the balance, Just my humble 2 cents.

      Thank you! I think some of them might work for you! Maybe the tie front button up outfit with the longer pants. You could look for a wide leg that was not as wide and flowy, maybe more straight.

    I have these pants from Old Navy in every color, thank you, it was helpful. I couldn't help noticing that you say height with a "th" sound at the end, like the word width,. It's a common mistake.

    I wanted to order those pants but they seem to be continually sold out in petite . Also, the measurements they list are a much longer than what you have here. I think 26" for petite and 28" regular. Now I'm more confused 😄

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep checking and they will probably come back. It did say that on the website for one of the pants that I ordered and it was wrong. They are all a 24 inch inseam for the petite and 26 for the regular.

    My problem is shape of ankles look skinny with cropped pants ...any solution for me

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe try slimmer legs like a straight leg. I feel like the wider the leg the skinner your leg will look. This is a little touch because I don't know your shape but definitely try that if it would work for you.

    I have a problem with collars. I have basically no neck so collars make tops look like me head is on top of my shoulders with no neck.

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would stay away from collars than. I bet open necklines will look the best on you as well. You may be able to do the banded or stand collars that are small and don't cover you neck, just the collar bones.

    They are all lovely outfits. But for me, a 4ft 11” very round apple shape (size 18) and a wide bum, big tummy and big bust, belts and tucking in tops just won’t do for me. But I love my cropped trousers.

    If you tuck, make sure you get proper waistband pants. Those with stretch bands or built-in ties look awful when exposed under a tuck. As if it is pyama's.

    The chunky platforms are a no for me. They stand out too much and make your ankles look too skinny
