@Hammer 001 It is a bit of a technicality as both sets of will be trained to fly from land and sea and be based at Marham, but the official split is 48/90 As an example the video is talking about 617 squadron, which is an RAF squadron. So these first ones are RAF. This deployment is to an RAF base but the same squadron will be on Queen Elizabeth later on. The idea is they just fly from the where ever is best for the mission. We have to hope interservice rivalry doesn't get in the way.
@Hammer 001 But this is a RAF deployment and with B models. So can't see how the claims that Navy versions will never be used by RAF when this news story absolutely confirms not only will this occur but is in fact occuring right before our eyes. As for 48 on one carrier? Well most information pegs the number at about 24-36. 24 on one carrier is rather significant - far beyond anything such as Falklands for example. But I do think they should shift the new numbers of B model over the A model. The B model has the fewest compromises in terms of abilities of any VSTOL fighter ever made.
Yes, the B internal stores are more limited. Right now, it is 4 AIMS (2 per side), and then 2 X 1000lb bomb (or 2 500 = 4 total) on each side. The A and C model are about to get a upgrade to the carriage holders for missiles, and thus they will get 3 AIMS per side (total of 6, and 2 x 1000 bombs). (these new carriages don't fit in the B model - so, they will remain 4 AIMS). As noted in Falklands, they could what, field 24 Harriers, but that was sufficient. As noted, 24 on the HMS Q is a different story. They are rated for about 36. Cycle time for a catapult hookup + launch is 3 minutes. So, VSTOL gets you a much faster takeoff rate then catapults (30 seconds - just point and shoot down the runway, jet behind is spooling up engines before the jet in front has barely left the ramp)The only reason why a supercarrier can generate more sorties is they have 4 catapults in operation). While the internal bay is somewhat more limited in B vs A/C models, you can forgo stealthy, and hang absolute truckloads of weapons on fuel on these things - including the B model. A f18 landing on a carrier is rated for 4,000lbs return stores. Anything higher, and you dumping fuel, and if that don't get your return weight down enough, then you dump weapons and ordinance. We are know how thankful the ocean floor is littered with un-spent ordnances from the Harrier. Not only does the F35B already have a higher return store rating then the F18, (5,000lbs), that is without a rolling landing they plan to adopt on the HMS Q. That will add another 2,000 lbs. So, now we at 7,000lbs return store rating. That is VERY good, by any standards - including cable trap carriers. The mig 29k's launching from India's carriers get a total loadout of 10,000 lbs (and that includes fuel - they go with about 7,000 out of a full tank of 7,700 lbs - the result is a plane with girl sized bladders in terms of fuel and weapon loads - a big cruel JOKE of a weapons loadout). So, the B model is a game changer here. It not at all limited like previous VSTOL fighters. With such large decks on the HMS Q? Well, they likely should achieve full loadouts. The ramp alone (like on the invincible class ships) is worth about 300 feet more. As far as I know, the max takeoff for the B model is the same as A/C models. They are absolute astounding. Same goes for combat radius: F16 - 340 n miles F18 - 400 n miles F35 - 669 n miles (A model, C is slightly higher). Fuel load: F16 - 7000 lbs Harrier = 7,300 (later had 7,700lbs) Rafael - 10,450 lbs F18 - 10,860 lbs Typhoon - 11,000 lbs F35 - 18,500 lbs F35 fuel loads by model: C = 19,800 lbs B = 13,325 lbs A = 18,500 Out of the 3 wing pylons per side, 2 on each side of F35 are wet plumbed (so, 4 drop tanks are allowed), I don't believe a center line option exists. But, given that the gun pod goes center, then a centerline tank should in theory be possible. So, 5 drop tanks of fuel should be possible (and unlike other jets, the internal weapons bays are STILL available). So, ultra long distance interdiction missions are possible for the F35. The drop tank pylons (at least the ones Israel is developing will drop clean - thus retuning stealth mode). Now, those death defying circus numbers ? Remember, the F35 is a lifting body design. Those that count JUST the wing area are missing one of the BEST kept secrets about the F35 - and that is its award winning lifting ability. Get ready - hang on to your nickers:So, max weight - dry, we get this: F16 - 20,000 lbs Typhoon - 27,800 lbs F18 - 28,900 lbs Rafael - 31,300 lbs Su57 - 37,320 lbs F15 - 40,000 lbs F35 - 49,500 lbs What do you see in the above? you see something beyond amazing!!! And that is the carry ability of the F35.And I seen nothing that suggests the above numbers don't apply to the B model. While the B model costs somewhat more, Rolls Royce is a major contractor, and supplies and builds the remarkable lift fan system. That thus returns money back to rolls Royce. And that cold air system causes less wear and tear on surfaces then does the Harrier - so mini air base, or hiding the F35 in a barn remains a choice. The B model is the realization of 75 years of hope that some day a VSTOL platform can be built with few compromises compared to regular fighter jets. The B model will re-write military book on strategic deployment of air assets. This also applies to the LHA "wasp" class ships in the USA that are now starting to fly the B model. In effect, the USA now has about 19 ships (as opposed to 10 carriers) in which they can project air power - and the F35 delivers that air power in bucket loads like no other fighter in existence .

Airstrikes are made against militant terrorist organisations within some of the countries you mentioned. And after the events of 2017 its best they keep it up.
@@jamiegray6931 ISIS was created by J.Mcainn (USA) and is a proxy to fight Assad - do some research on it. 2017 was intresting, what may be more intresting is why ISIS have never attacked Israel. France, UK, USA arent nearby targets?
@@montebank4 I assume Israel is never a target of IS was because they were the target of Hamas, also it is possible that they were a target but any attempts were thwarted before they could be carried out.
IS striking at the heart of London and Paris sends a clear message to the western world that nowhere is safe. Another attack in Isreal is just another day for the middle East.
John McCain creating ISIS seems a little far fetched though, I'm not American so my knowledge of the country is rather limited.
@@jamiegray6931 Wishful -
Our manned target drones are finally getting tested!
Chagos and empty Island is the kinda threat these Brits Face. LMAO
There is not one OPERATIONAL B35 KamaKhazi anywhere in the
World the B35 at war 🤣 the Brits have 13 and that's just to avoid having a £3.2 billion Carrier with an empty deck. If the Brit public knew their B35s were duds. May would wish Brexit would last for ever.
Keep yammering, and the RAF/FAA will keep progressing the F35.
Fool, you're the dud.

@@davidhouseman4328 In the past few months. Main Gun still not working unable to sight it. Corrosion, USN version Nose strut Kangaroos at launch. Pilots Helmet too heavy bouncing injures pilots necks. At ramp end pilots can't see where they're going. Also visor so cluttered with info they can't see out of cock pit. Radar stilnot working. l
@@yfelwulf the F35B doesn't have a gun, nor is it the USN version. Clutter is just a case of getting used to the new system. The helmet weight would be a problem but from what I remember it was only for smaller pilots and even that had been fixed.
Oooooooo sexy beast
Awful looking aircraft.
It's beautiful wtf.
Lyndon Thomas I think it’s beautiful
Nah I think it looks great.
Flying turkey!!!
This reminds me of colonialism....
What's the point of these planes when the money could be used elsewhere where most needed. Besides with drones doing alot of work nowadays these jets are useless.
Drones are used in uncontested air space. These aren't.
