Thanks for bringing us the beautiful views up there Chase! R9 is definitely on the way. I love that Yamaha has adapted to the times and instead of being arrogant about the sportbike heritage they focused on building an impressive platform that would work extremely well as a naked and brought the fun comfortable naked bike to market 1st. It's their best seller and focusing on that allows them the secure funds to make the R9 which will be amazing and cater to the core heritage of the brand but won't sell as well and bring in enough margin. Porsche did this to when they realized that by selling premium consumer cars (like the SUVs and sedans )they can fund the core cars that lovers of the brands yearn for like the 911 GT3. kudos Yamaha
Power is the same on mode 1,2,3. Using mode 1 vs 3 the only difference is not needing to twist the throttle so much. Engine braking is fixed. BC is Brake control, level 2 means cornering ABS ON, level 1 only ABS is ON.
I recall him saying in a comment in one of these videos that he would consider trading his 10 for a 09SP if given the option. The mt09SP is 50 pounds lighter than the mt 10. I believe the power to weight ratio is better on the mt09
How on Earth could anyyone criticise such a great bike that costs so little money, comparatively, and nit-pick stuff about it? See your comments. It's a marvel, and is all the bike that anyone needs for the road. Looking at your speedo, there was a very big difference in terms of speed compared to the MT07, when you rode the same road. That must, mainly, be the suspension and confidence.
It's a testament when people spend thousands on fancy exhaust systems and ECU flashes to go faster before they spend it on better suspension components. It really transforms any bike.
I hope for 2022 they let us buy the Mt10 SP in America. I would buy it in a heartbeat. I’m at the age now and my R1 is kicking my butt ergonomics wise and I’m looking to move over to a naked and the 2022 MT10-SP seems to be exactly what I want. It ticks all the boxes for me,
OC: I'm going to assume that an R9 would already come with the better suspension (no need for an SP). Also I really think this bike is worth comparing to the Street Triple.
OC: An R9 would probably tweak your back. It's 4 months to the day that I placed a down payment on a MT-09 SP....that were already on back order at the shop. Already bought blue/gold ASV Levers. I'm looking forward to a review of the 2022 MT-10 SP that comes out in May
Great description on the feel you get when you have a great run. I never not get that feeling, I always have certain roads on a ride I can push the bike and feel the G's
OC: My heart wants a R9 SP, but my back will scream😱 NOOOOOO. Honestly really want the MT09 SP. Even if I just got a new MT07. I literally got it as a commuter and so my gf who got a MT03 as her first motorcycle could have a great bike to progress to once her time with the MT03 is done. I guess then I'll get a MT09 SP for myself.

You sold me on the MT07 2021 and I bought it brand new. Bike is great but after watching all these MT09 videos made me feel like I settled for an inferior bike😔

Exactly, also have one. All settings are 1 min intervention, 2 a bit more...., or if you go to M there you can turn everything off except ABS. BC-brake control indicates ABS mode, its 1 or 2 meaning 1 regular ABS, only when the bike is upwards, 2 cornering ABS, it takes i account those 6 axis and helps if you block the brakes while leaned in corner so you dont low side (it should help, at least it is ment to help :)). The bike doesn't have engine brake control. Allso, drive modes 1-3, all power available except throttle response is different, drive mode 4 adds power limit. All in all, great bike.

I bought a left over new 2017 model back in 2018 & although I love the motor & acceleration the handling is just horrible. It feels unstable in corners & the front end shakes violently under hard acceleration. It's like a wild horse that refuses to be broken & wants to kill me. I've tried different suspension settings & tire pressures & even bought a $500 steering damper which helped some but it's still a problem. I know this experience is not unique to me because I've read this is an issue for many owners & understand Yamaha tweaked the frame geometry for 2021 to address this issue. I'm 65 & have been riding since I was 13 & have owned & ridden quite a few bikes including sport bikes & have never had this issue before. I wouldn't recommend this bike for beginners even without the handling issues. Another thing is that, like any sporting type bike, it invites all the dumbass punks in their diesel engine P/U trucks to try & goad you into a race or "role coal" on you which is very popular here in Texas with those idiots. In fact, a few months ago some 16 year old kid hit six bicyclists while attempting that & significantly injuring two of them. So watch out for those morons.
My 2017 MT09 had terrible head shake under hard acceleration when my preload was set too firm. Once I softened it a bit the issue completely disappeared and never had the problem again.
Chase! I have a question. I just saw that you got the MT-09 SP for a lengthy review! Super excited for that content. Do you have any idea what Yamaha does with these bikes that you review after you give them back? Considering these are “used” at that point I didn’t know if it was possible to purchase. If so I’d be very interested in the SP after the lengthy review
The extra for the SP is worth it for the upgraded suspension and cruse control, but I would be careful if you are on the extreme smaller or extreme bigger size. The upgrade may not be perfect for you. It's better for sure but if you are really light or really heavy you may want to have a spring rate more suited for your weight in the after market. You could end up spending extra money even if you go with the SP model to have to change springs in the forks and the spring in the rear to match you specifically if you are real light or real heavy. The SP will suit most people and i am only talking about the few people on either end of the really big or small spectrum.
I love my 21 SP. Oddly, it looks just like the 22 SP 🤭🤣 Anyway, it's a great bike. It handles better in the canyons then any bike I've ever owned. It's slowly, making me a better rider in the canyons also just because it's so stable. I feel I'm still holding it back. A Lot. But I'll get there!
OC: I’d still take the MT09… I love the naked riding position. Also, I’m curious how the regular MT09 compares. I’ve got a 21 MT09, and can’t imagine the SP is really that much better. The regular one has been great so far!
Hey Chase! I am fortunate to live in the same area as you so I recognize all the nearby mountains and stuff. Which is cool. I do have a question about this bike. Does the SP version come with a quick shifter or is it an optional add on?
765 RS has a much better frame, less flex and handles way better. The 765 has less torque, more of a high RPM screamer vs the larger, torquier engine of the MT09.
Trust me I went from a 250 to the MT09SP and with all the electronics it's not an unmanageable leap. Yeah it's quick but the electronics keep you very safe. On a service I was given a MT07 to ride and it sounded like a tractor with half the power. The MT09 21/22 is a gem, a very safe commuter but if you open its up it's explosive but still safe with the electronics so you will never get tired of the power.

Suspension had better be what that bike is all about, as it suffers in the looks department. The front end, the truck muffler and the mismatch of the front frame and swingarm appearance. No thank you.
@@fragu123 the Street Triple is vastly superior. The frame is the major advantage, MT frames have flex which upsets the handling under hard cornering. The Street Triple has a much better, stiffer frame, which results in vastly superior handling…

And if they do, they have build dates close to 16 months ago. An SP?😂 You’d have better luck hunting a unicorn. You won’t find one. You’ll be lucky to find a base 09, and if you do, it will be over one year old by now.
Lol are they really that hard to find
The suspension might be good but the headlight sucks.
XSR900 fixes that
Suspension had better be what that bike is all about, as it suffers in the looks department. The front end, the truck muffler and the mismatch of the front frame and swingarm appearance. No thank you.
R9 sp?... no thanks 😖
I go naked, or I don’t go anywhere!
True 💯 I will always prefer naked bikes over supersport motorcycles 🤢
so much oil on the mountain sheesh
You tricked me. Your title says 2022, but you say 2021 in your video. Lame
These are the same bikes with slightly different tank color.
you ride an MT10, and can’t handle the full power lol come on my guy, the MT10 in TC1 w/Mode1 is a Kraken compared to the MT09
Mt 09 Its a crusier, too uppright allround bike soft snd easy too drive, Street triple 765 rs more racey and faster🤙🔥🔥
…nahhhh, not faster. More racy for sure but not faster at all. Maybe top speed on German Autobahn but otherwise, nope…,
@@fragu123 the Street Triple is vastly superior. The frame is the major advantage, MT frames have flex which upsets the handling under hard cornering. The Street Triple has a much better, stiffer frame, which results in vastly superior handling…
This is the dumbest test ever, dude is riding flat mirror road and talks about suspension🤦♂️ Btw owner of mt09 2021, riden on bumps, village shitty roads, mirror perfect roads, highways etc, and yes suspension even on regular model is very good. Playing with rebound, comp and preload you can fine tune suspension to be even better
R9 💦💦💦
It's yummy... Really yummy
Well, duh... 😂
