Its quite sad from Bamco. This is basically their FF7. Might not be the greatest in terms of gameplay mechanics for the hardcores, but this is the game that put the series on the map. And they show no care whatsoever smh.

The older I get, and the more technology advances, the more I see Mithos's story becoming a scary.. if not impossible future of many people, the idea of people trying to own their own VR worlds doesn't so far off. The storytellers of the world, gotta respect em, this came out how long ago?

I know this is old but I'm so happy that you didn't do some INSANE CRAZY COMBO and just literally played the game for what it is. Yeah you avoided Retribution and stuff, but you didn't stun-lock him and have Genis cast Absolute. I love this so much. Man, it's been 11 years now. I fucking love this game just as much as when I was 15. I'm 27 now. THIS GAME IS THE BEST I SWEAR.
I just get goosebumps when Mithos says in the middle of the battle: "My sister means everything to me..." He sounds so much in pain throughout the entire thing, and I do feel bad for Mithos, but at the same time I was glad he died at the end because he suffered 4000 freakin' years trying to revive Martel. So I respect Mithos for that.
Yeah, and it was sad when Martel "rejected" him at the Tower of Salvation. It's chilling to watch a kid go insane after all the time he invested in resurrecting his sister only to be condemn, and by the one person you love the most. Honestly, him dying is the best thing that could've ever happened to him because now he doesn't have to live in agony without his sister.
That's the thing...I don't think the player wanted to use characters based on "usefulness", rather, by canon means: there's a dialogue exchange between Mithos, Lloyd and Colette in battle halfway through. Normally, I have never seen that in any other video so I thought that was pretty neat. And the guy already rips through Mithos on Mania mode. Maybe it was intended to be a troll character? lol. But srsly, I don't think that should bother anyone. It's a matter of player's preference.
I didnt enjoy defeating Mythos final form because Genis stole my thunder I was gonna deliver the final strike and then Genis goes and attaks him with his Kendama, I was so angry he stole my glory.
Reading through the comments, many people are pointing out how everyone hates Colette. I did for the like first 10 hours of the game, but after that, I really loved her. Actually played as her a lot and had her in the party quite often.

@BrincessKarin You can do that sidequest after speaking with the Elder at Latheon Gorge. But for the costumes themselves, it's right after the Flanoir Scenes (if I recall). Anytime after that point (if you decided to keep Zelos in your party) will enable you to get the costumes. Not too sure if you can do it immediately after the Flanoir Scenes, if you've chosen Kratos (I have not tried that).
@brittanyS123 some titles come with different costumes that change the characters visage in battle and on the field in general, for example, Lloyd's Nobleman title makes him look like a prince!! Personally for me, this makes the game alot more fun on different playthroughs! The anime cutscenes show everyone in their default clothes regardless of titles however!!! Personally, I like Lloyd's "Arrgh, Me Heartess!" title the best because it turns him into a pirate!!!
it is because the game has a friendship system collete from the beginning is the one who has the most but the decisions you make will be raising or lowering these values in each character this affects in a lesser way except that symphonia has a bad ending and well this is unlocked having as lowest friendship to zelos before his fight in the tower of salvation he will really betray you and die after the fight, in endgame kratos joins you in his place (the same thing but he has judgment in the epic gamecube version) but of course zelos dies in this ending which everyone will see how he likes it but it's a bad ending ps: sorry for such a long comment since you commented a year ago but didn't want to do it.

Yeah, I find that an annoying glitch where sometimes Mithos actually moves when he's talking and other times he doesn't move during this scene. I wonder if that's something they fixed in the PS2 version...
WHAT IN THE FUCK!?!? No matter what I fucking do only 3 of my 4 character are moving, the 4th just stands there not using any TP or even attacking, doesn't matter if i swap the character out or change the order, ONE OF THEM IS ALWAYS JUST FUCKING STANDING THERE!
Not exactly true. You can do the quests before making the decision. As for me, I took the clothes and killed him. :P - I forgot the exact timing, but what I did was visiting the place after almost any event. Thats also how you get the colluseum weapons when going Kratos, even the fight against Zelos sister happens twice then. (she comes back for revenge)
Go to the menu; The one with the Techs, Unison attacks, items, etc. And push the Z button. At least i think thats how it is... And since this is a month ago, i figure you figured it out and sorry for commenting.
@Harkins1721 The truth can't possibly detract from the inherent value of the game; it's just that some voice-acting is hit-and-miss, and my personal feeling on Lloy'd English voice is that it's a miss. You don't have to agree with me and I'm not saying the game is bad (on the contrary, it's tied for my favorite Tales game), but this is my opinion.

Went to look up this game because I was thinking of buying the XboxOne remaster and realized the battle was trash. Even the graphics and cut scenes looked like shit...I guess I confused it with the Wii version which was so much better. Why don't they port Tales of Abyss instead, Graces F or Xillia.
To the player's defense, I dislike seeing people use "top OP" characters to see who can beat -so and so- boss the quickest in the -best method-. That's just so boring. Variety is always good.
She's not useless in the least; people just don't know how to use her. Granted, the AI only does a so-so job controlling her, but in the hands of a human player, she's a beast. Para Ball is a God-tier tech that lays on great damage, has a high chance to break enemy guard, and a high stun chance for a very small amount of TP. Ring Whirlwind gives her great crowd control and Triple Ray Satellite absolutely shreds large enemies (the final boss included). And on top of all that, her Life/Spirit Thief EX Skills give her amazing sustainability. If anything, she's somewhat overpowered.

You know I never knew why but everytime I played the game it was always presea who was holding on to the cruxis crystal instead of Colette at 1:30

Ah, yeah maybe. I didn't use her much, I mostly use Presea, like every play through haha.
***** She definitely takes some getting used to, and if you've only seen her used by the AI, it's understandable that you'd find her useless.
Yeah, I've plsyed her a couple times and tried to rock her out, she isn't BAD but I'm not a fan of her animations other than BEFORE she has wings.
