As an old rock gardener, much appreciation for taking the time to examine the beautiful rocks of the West. 👍🏼
The Julian Pie Company’s pies are so good. They used to sell them at a Stater Bros. near me in south Orange County. I have to schlep to Cardiff-by-the-Sea now if I want to get them.
Haha, yeah. Give the Chollas a wide berth. They're also known as Jumping Cactus. Those particular ones are called Teddy Bear cactus because they look like fuzzy teddy bears. Definitely not something you want to hug. There's a few varieties. The one I fear the most is the Silver Cholla found in Baja. Those suckers are deadly.
Julian's a fun town. Looks like you found the BBQ joint where me and my buddy hang out on motorcycle rides up the mountain. The brisket is nowhere near as good as Texas brisket. But I'm sure it tasted amazing after a couple days on the trail.
All that granite could make a lot of kitchen countertops 😊
The first video of the PCT I've seen that mentioned the amazing rocks and rock formation . I thought I was the only one who noticed or cared. The views on the PCT are second to none, in my opinion. Another great video. 👍
THAT sticking out over the trail is CHOLLA (choiya) and you do not touch it with anything, even a boot/shoe. It has hooks on the end and a clump will detach. It's the most hard core plant in the desert, by far.
I am gld you showed and talked about the rocks! I like to go rock hounding!
The Flat topped mountain to the left is San Gregorio, the highest in So. Cal.
Save and I love watching your updates together and he always has a million questions for you haha
We would love to see and hear more about camp life, how morale is, if you’ve ditched any items or lightened your load, gear reviews, etc! You also say “we” most of the time. Do you often hike together with others or mostly solo? Have you met some cool people? Seriously can’t wait to see you in Osoyoos when you’re done and hear about it all! Or maybe we will meet you at the end in Manning!
Most days there is at least one other person you tend to walk with or often see during the day. When I say "we" i am simply referring to those people at that moment. My backpack is bothering me quite a bit and I have a new one on the way. Some days the pain has been very very uncomfortable. Most of what you are asking about is on the menu and will be discussed eventually. But pretty much all my gear has worked perfectly.
Awesome video! Thanks for pointing out the different plants and rock formations. Beautiful views. Hopefully, the Doc is right and nothing to be concerned with on the tick bite. You are doing great keep up the good work and Hike~~On~~>
👍 plant and geology info .. good stuff
I watched a TH-cam video by a couple that summited San Jacinto on the 15th and we’re surprised at how easy it was. They started very early in the morning when the snow was hard and they wore spikes. I’ll look for their video and attach a link. They also have zero experience in mountain climbing.
A lot of conflicting information from folks on the trail. I know of many who tried and ultimately turned around due to what they said were dangerous conditions.
@hope2someday. Yes, the Focht on Foot husband and wife team were able to hike San Jacinto by hiking very early while the snow was hard. I haven’t seen many who have followed in their footsteps. But with that being said, you need to hike your own hike.
@JD PURVIS
If you watched the video (and paid attention) comments of no info or conflicting info were mentioned. I gave real info. So you need to mind your own business.
Keep going love your videos
Thank you !
It was the Nephilim that stacked those rocks!
Maybe, lol
