What I like from your videos, and any other videos of this sort, is that you establish cultural context. It is simple, but it adds value to the material. Keep the hard work, keep it smooth!
Having been born in 1976, I got to witness the birth of so many of these gadgets. I feel very fortunate for that. Although I use a computer quite a bit these days, I still prefer that tactile feeling and response of analog. I also prefer the sound, the imperfections and the noise floor. Maybe I'm odd, but I find it much more human. My ears like harmonics and texture, not sterility. Perfect tuning is a great example of sterile. I like detuning and wobbly vs. straight pinpoint lifeless energy. Getting that movement, in time, with frequency balance and great lyrical content is a great song. Joe Walsh was excellent at that, as many others were like Phil Collins, Pink Floyd etc. Chorus on bass is awesome, just ask Andy Wallace. My two cents, great video once again.
I agree! Although I also use a computer a lot, too, it's mostly for editing and finalizing. I think we are fortunate to have the best of both worlds these days, but I always prefer tactile, analog objects for creativity. thanks for watching!
The Waza stuff is great. AFAIK they’re all upgraded to handle line level for synths and mixers, so you can get very creative. I have a Dimension C that I use in classic mono when tracking guitar, then switch to SDD-320 mode and send a bus through it to chorusize my mono stems. Works like a charm.
like with the chorus effect, or just stereo in general? I've miked two amps in the past, and that's fun. The key with any stereo guitar (assuming it's one guitar, not overdubs) is that in order to really feel the effect, the sounds have to be kinda different on each side. In other words, miking the same speaker with two mics and hard panning them doesn't usually get the result. hope this makes sense! There's actually a lot to cover on this topic
@@MadeOnTape yeah with the chorus specifically. I’m wondering if doing a single stereo chorus using a pedal that can output stereo (either into two amps and cabs mic’d up or direct with amp sims) is cool or if it just gums up a mix. And if double tracking and hard panning mono chorus totally screws things up because of phase issues. There are lots of things to try I guess both on rhythm guitars and lead/accent parts. Either with chorus on during tracking or using it as a hardware insert and adding it during mixing. If you ever decide to do a deep dive on recording with chorus, I’m here for it! Might be too niche though and probably a lot of work. Thanks for this video and for the response!
@@mikewolfe9458 in short, I've tried all of the scenarios you've listed above, and they all present different flavors. Doesn't gum up the mix at all. Hard panning mono choruses can work! Really just depends on the song and what other elements are happening. Less is usually more with all instruments, and this applies to stereo techniques as well.
fun! workhorse. my CH-1 stays in the back of the pack. because, once engaged, well.. done deal. especially good for adding a huge “wall of stage amps” sound to distortion. although, i have one of the first years they had a digi circuit.. boo. (post-2001)
To make a Flanging Sound from the 1970s you need a Synthesizer making a White Noise Sound combined with the Music and Vocals all going through a Flanger with a one or 2 second Sweep !!!! It sounds like a jet engine combined with the vocals and instruments all distorting in Waves !!!! It's a Fantastic sound which Jimi Hendrix also used a lot !!!!
It sounds like my 1970s Phaser and Flanger !!!! I have a Boss ME 80 sound unit !!! I have Chorus on my Orange Amp !!! When you listen to Pop Music from the 1960s, all the Phasing and Flanging Sounds have been Removed by Digitisation. !!!!! I used to love the Flanging on Pictures of Machstickmen by Status Quo, and Itchycoo Park by the Small Faces and Thhis Wheel's on Fire by Julie Driscoll and the Brian Auger Trinity !!! But to hear what they should sound like you need to get hold of the original Vinyl Records !!!!
@@MadeOnTape Wise choice. They are excellent. I might get the JHS PG13 as I have a Strymon Riverside and a Brutal Traynor amp... and a Hendrix Fuzz Wah!
Great video! Just built a CE-2 clone so I wanted to see how others were using it and I stumbled here :) p.s. I have that same tascam! mines just the 4 track tho :)
@@MadeOnTape came out perfect! It's the 3rd pedal I've ever made. First was a mini Rat that works but is a little touchy and second was a phase 90 that for some reason picks up a lot of EMI and is just slightly distorted but still sounds cool! My tascam is being repaired rn and I'm so excited to get it back. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos :)
hey there! Can you clarify? Are you asking about different tracks on the cassette? If so, then the answer is just that i dial them in with my ears. Vibrato/chorus can be very forgiving in terms of tempo sync, unlike delay or reverb pre delay

i appreciate you recognizing that! i’m always interested in the stories and happy that’s translating. I will always try to get better, too 🙏🤘

Hey, man. Sam at Vintage King here. This might be my favorite content you've released thus far. Thanks for making rad vids!
thanks Sam! that means a lot! looking forward to that stereo mic !!!
I love this pedal SOO much on bass!!
then sending to distortion and the echoplex pedal for nasty nasty goodness like last Sunday?
Just discovered this channel and I’m hooked. Truly great content mate!
really appreciate that! some fun stuff coming out soon!
New favorite channel.
that means a lot thank you 🙏
It's so cool to see other guys that love what I love my 4track and my roland 626😁😁😁

the dimension C i’ve been eyeing for a long time! thanks for watching 🙏
Made on Tape Highly recommend. Once you go all buttons in, you’ll wonder how you mixed without it.
That’s wild I just recently got a pretty good deal on a Boss CE-2 from 1983 along with a flanger, a phaser, and a Dynamic Wah. Great pedals.
that's AWESOME! nice score!
@@MadeOnTape thanks I never had a Boss CE2 before now, I had the Super Chorus a while back but the CE2 blows it away in my opinion…
I remember hearing the Korg Poly 800 for the first time, and to this day, I struggle to not put chorus on any and all synth sounds.
man, my next for sure pedal purchase is the Waza Craft Dimension Chorus...i LOVE chorus the most

You're a heavily saturated, warm, tube based analog breath of fresh air in a lame, lifeless, digital world, kiddo, and I love you for it 🍻
one of the nicest comments ever, thank you!
