So nice to see a rider tell the instructor that your horse needs a break, I do this all the time with mine too and she's completely understanding. At the end of the day they're physical beings just like us who get aches and pains so they need to stretch and relax their muscles just like we would after a hard gym sesson! You're such a kind and gentle rider and you always look so effortless! Love watching you ride!
Hahahahah--been there, got lost, jumped the wrong course ;) WOW! Love this exercise!!! And what a clever boy---he came in too fast to the grid and then corrected himself through! :) MERIT!! Hello!!! :D
1:32 --I'm laughing because I JUST did this exercise today and not one rider knew where they were going. The figure 8 down a center line can be directionally confusing :D Lauren---I am very interested in why you keep your hands low on him--I know it is something you are being taught---it's something I'm seeing more common today, where as I was taught, and still am, to have my hands a bit higher. Very interested in the reasons behind this and how it is used for the horse/rider. ***this is not a criticism** for those who are reading-I am just honestly curious and wish I could watch these lessons in full, but Lauren would have to upload several hours of lessons :D :D
There is likely a reason behind her hand carriage. I do not judge as there is a coach in the arena and I can see from the video they are working on things. I was always taught to keep my hands up, but coaching today seems to have riders bring their hands lower and I am curious to know why---I like to learn about different methods and the reasons behind those methods. I also notice a lack of release, which again, is something being taught and could just come down to differences between education there vs north america. Doesn't make it wrong, just different :)
I am a coach and trainer myself and I know sometimes we do things in an unorthodox way to get a result we need to teach a horse to learn. From there, we then move towards other methods----so, perhaps it is easier for whatever Lauren and her coach are working on with Naiger, to have her hands stay low right now, and over time, he will learn to strengthen and balance and she can raise her hands--again, this is just a hypothesis, but I am sure there is a reason why.
Darkhorse3211 From what I can see and from an outside opinion, it looks to me like her hand position on the flat is proper equitation with a straight line from elbow to bit. For the bounces, I think that they are treating them just as elevated ground poles... you don't release over ground poles so why would you over the bounce? Just my thoughts because she did release over the actual jumps. It makes more sense to me to ride as normal over the bounces since they are a balancing exercise and changing position would comprise the work he's supposed to be doing. Just my thoughts though... would also be interested to her the real reason.
Ahhh---that makes sense. Again, it's more something I'm curious about as I see this in my area too. I did ask one girl and for her horse's needs, they need a different release since her horse is a bit greener. There is always a reason and I like to learn from other riders and I adore watching Lauren and her coach! I love listening to her coach because she says many of the same things I do and my coaches do. :)
I love the white spot on his dorsal line at the top of his haunches. Do you feel like you have to 'drive' him a lot? Towards the 4 or 5 minute mark he really looked like he was picking up speed on his own. He did recover really well when he didn't hit the exact right spot in the bounce line up. Who is your coach per chance? I love how particular she is. His last time through the bounce line up was perfecto!

What breed is Naiger? :) - is he normally born with that straight man? Cause i thought of it on my knapper :D
I think Naiger is super-hard to ride ( cause i rode on horses like he) But u make it look so easy 👍🏻👍🏻
Naiger is so beautiful 😍
