Ailaya Yes, that's one thing I don't agree with in dressage. Why do they keep the reins so impossibly short? It's not a natural movement for the horse, and you have to do a lot of work for the horse to move relaxed with it's neck like that. You can see it in any horse, keep the reins with a soft feel to the mouth and the horse is relaxed and walks with a long step, yank them tight and force the horse's head and it will begin to walk stiffly and unnaturally. This really surprised me, this is the first valegro I have ever watched and I knew it was awesome but I didn't know it was this jaw droppingly amazing fantastic. There is no way to describe how valegro flows and moves with Charlotte
Wow if world record breaking Dressage can still get hate from people the rest of us should just give up then! This gave me goosebumps it was outstanding!
Totilas gave me goosebumps (this, not so much) and there was loads of hate and controversy there! Let's face it, it's just a subjective sport. Whatever makes the judges tick at the time wins *shrugs*.
This is the single most beautifully relaxed, synchronistic, gorgeous rides from two perfectly partnered beings I have EVER seen! Bar none. Including Blu Hors Matine, and she was, until now, my favourite Freestyle performance ever. And all you armchair riders commenting your nonsense about rollkur, too much rein, and the fact that her legs and hands are moving a bit, please feel free to share your world-class riding videos for the rest of us to comment on! I look forward to seeing them!
I almost decided that Valegro was more awesome that Blu Hors Matine, but she still has first place in my heart...tough decision, tho! What an amazing team this is!
i usually am not impressed with dressage (my own personal preference) But this is gorgeous. I can see the partnership between these two, working to put on a lovely performance. He has beautiful movement and she is a great rider. well done! I love the music choice too!
As close to perfection as I've been lucky to witness. Saw them take the Gold in London, and was there for Valegro's retirement at Olympia in 2016. What an amazing horse, a harmonious partnership. We would be priveledged to see the likes of these two again.
That was magic! Every movement was big and powerful, and so precise. His head was never behind the vertical, always on or slightly above, which is fine. And Charlotte! She rides so beautifully!! So much we could learn from watching this!
I'm not a big fan of dressage nor was I interested in taking a shot in it, up until I saw this video. It randomly appeared in my feed and I went ahead and watched it. You know someone did good when you literally start crying while watching them work. This was absolutely amazing.
I took English lessons a few years ago for jumping, but I never had much respect for dressage. That was, until a few months ago when I started watching dressage videos on TH-cam. Charlotte and Valegro have a flawless bond that is portrayed beautifully in the arena. Their movements are so poetic and I can't fathom the hours of training she must have gone through. In that extended trot it doesn't even look like his hooves are touching the ground! I'm fascinated by the prowess in this performance and I can't stop drooling over Valegro's color. Congrats Charlotte, you deserve this!
+Renoka Beary no offence and all. But you do realise that horse have been found with blue tongue after several rides? Blue hors Matiné was an absolutely fantastic, beautiful, elegant horse. But she wasn't treated right. Also the video that's famous all over TH-cam of her and Andreas Helgstrand... Look at her tail, her eyes. She's not satisfied, at all.. Not very beautiful in my eyes :/
+Sille Bovedt Oh No! I did think she was too heavy on the reins... Such a magnificent horse. No horse should know a cruel hand. I also thought she rewarded him to hard at the end. Horses skin has been proven to be more sensitive than ours. My heart breaks for the horse. Please tell me the was a good outcome for him.
@@kristeyh937 if she rewarded him too harshly, he would've reacted with a twitch or something, and she also has a slight slack on the reins while riding. I'm sorry, but I only see a happy horse and a caring rider
I think I held my breath through that whole video, absolutely amazing! So much concentration from both of them and they are a very good match. I had to laugh at the very end it's like Charlotte and Valegro were both "You're welcome, London!" And he drops his head down and goes back in "horse mode." Very inspiring, very much a favorite!
I didn't think perfection was possible!!! this was almost perfect!!! the horse only got a little excited at the end of the free walk but it was a very small thing! The horse was happy and did each movement with ease and without hesitation, you can barely see the transitions, just flawless!!!
This is literal perfection. It's so consistent! You always get the big-moving, hot-headed horses in our sport, who perform spectacularly, but when you see him, it's cool-headed through the whole program. He just doesn't get excited, does everything clearly, calmly, and with weight. Sure, he does have the big movement to match, especially the canter, which is huge, but he just has a good clear rhythm throughout the whole thing that doesn't change. The sport horses loose it every time, because they just can't concentrate.
Yes!! There are horses with flashier movement and more height in their Piaffe, but he has the best combination of rhythm and power - and that’s not to say he isn’t also a beautiful mover. They are so consistent in all gaits, it’s just so lovely to watch.
What an incredible rider and horse. They look completely in harmony with each other. You can see Valegro has been trained beautifully with no harsh methods unlike some fei riders!! It's strength has been built up properly and horse's natural talents developed to the highest level. The horse looked just as happy as the rider when they got that big cheer! She and the horse share their well earned pride rather than rider taking the horses pride with forced submission. And that horse has the most gorgeous movement ever! What a stunning team and what a beautiful performance
The canter was the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen. Valegro is such a gorgeous and skilled horse. I’m sad i never had a chance to see valegro compete live.
This gives so much hope for classical, correct Dressage to get back on the scene... Softness, getting the horse working with the hind end, yes! My only complaint is that sometimes there is too much rein and Valegro looks somewhat broken over at the third vertebrae; needs less rein, more leg, get the base of his neck raised. Otherwise, this is outstanding, and I definitely think Valegro will perform even better.
Somewhat broken at 3rd? How about constantly. A little too much rein? How about WAY too much rein, look at the curb shanks. Leg? All over the place. If this is record breaking dressage, well, it's just short of disgusting.
hossjulia It is very incorrect in the front compared to complete classical, but I mean it is SO much better than the usual sight, I'll cut him slack. Leg isn't too bad on the horse meant, he's carrying weight with the hind end half the time and had very good bending. So if the new breed of competitive Dressage horse will be one that is brought along with bending and more weight-carrying priority, I'm thrilled. Problem is that correct Dressage isn't good business for the fast-paced competitive world; it isn't flashy like the modern methods, it takes longer and doesn't produce quick/big show-stopping results. The movements that are truly astonishing to spectators are the Airs, and those aren't shown on the competitive scene... likely because today's competitive Drsg horses would not be able to do the maneuvers at all... Correct equine gymnastics lives on in working equitation and with some private classical schools/instructors, I have some hope for it leaking into the competitive ring.
I personally think she did very well. Her leg was just subtle enough, I have seen worse. I like how she had a little less rein then usual. She was very humane with Valegro.
i get goosebumps every time i watch it. this is perfect harmony between valegro and charlotte, and so in tune with the music as well. a performance truly worth its status as world record.
It's amazing What horses can do, some people think it's easy but this requires hours and hours of practice. I also love how she lets go of the reins and congratulates him, some riders are really harsh and they dont pet them.
This honestly sends shivers down my spine - I have watched it so many times and it gets better every time!! Charlotte is my idol an my absolute dream is to make it to the Olympics and compete in dressage! 10/10 performance well done

@@coollikegrass2489 Not so! Charlotte Dujardin is an example of this. Dressage is just a way of training and movement. Putting scores to it doesn't change it in any way -- and that's what makes it competitive.
@@toomanyschoolponies No, putting scores to it makes people work torwards scores. Not torwards actual collection, not torwards actual harmony with the horse, only torwards what backwards judges score the highest. That's where false bends, hollowed backs, snappy movement, and unconnected gaits came from. From a judge who instead of judging by the book decided instead that something looked better and decided to judge that higher than something correct. That doesn't do anything good for the horse. On top of that, no, she is just an average dressage rider. She is not a good dressage example. She rides Valegro with a false bend in the neck, a hollow back and a lack of knowledge of horse biomechanics based on the fact that she rides not only like this, but in LDR and trains under Carl. She also does not have a good seat, toes pointed down, high hands and a very stiff torso. In any other discipline her equestrian seat wouldn't score high at all. The only thing they had going for them is that Valegro is slightly more correct than most horses his level, but that doesn't make him classical or correct by any means
Omg watch Valegro do those flying lead changes and the counter half puroets!! God! I almost was put into tears how beautiful and stunning he moves, his figure and movements aren't stiff and uncomfortable, he holds himself well and moves gorgeously with ease!!!!!
Dressage at its best. Valero’s work is so pure and how it should be when you picture dressage. Both her and Carl’s horses are treated great and get plenty of turnout and attention. I have so much respect for them as they really seem to appreciate and love the horses. Totilas is beautiful as well and has insane front leg action especially in his extendeds, but Valegro has much more hind leg action and nothing compares to this pair. Simply stunning

Absolutely beautiful performance. This gorgeous horse is like a dancer. And he KNEW, when the audience applauded for him, that he had achieved perfection. And much like Toothless and Hiccup, from the movie this song comes from, you can FEEL the bond between horse and rider. You can BARELY see any signals that she is giving him as they go through this....its like he is reading her mind and knows what she wants from him. You can see the trust and the pure connection between them as they dance. Its like moving art.

I love how at the end of the test Valegro look around at the crowd so proudly
her legs are not moving at all :o wow, she is such a good rider!!!
We make it look like we're not doing anything and make it look easy.... But really it's not, I love your comment 🖤
@@ameliamysterywave4456 my riding instructor always says that if it looks easy and the horse is the one doing all the work, you're doing it right. It always annoys me when people say things like dressage shouldn't be in the Olympics because it's the horse, not the rider. I always just want to see them riding.
@@lisahenry20 I would give all my money to see that and then I would literally laugh my ass off :')
IKR And Charlotte Dujardin says ' if it doesn't look like I'm doing anything then I'm doing something right' she is an amazing rider and valegro is an amazing horse
The horse is happy with all that is asked because there wasn't ONE TAIL SWISH of resistance in the entire test! Beautiful and nearly perfect!
This is absolutely... STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!! No one can ride like Charlotte Dujardin! And this horse... never seen anything like it. The (how to train your dragon music) really suits it to, its like a dance, well it is a dance! But I think Charlotte has just got herself a new FAN! That's all what I gotta say LOL. But my dream is to make it to the Olympics and to be a dressage & show jumping champion!
+Tiffiny Day we are so glad you like our video. Charlotte and her horse are indeed such great performers here. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel :) thank you
+FEI Sure thing I will subscribe to your delightful channel right now! I am aiming to be just like those two one day! :D
If u like jumping and dressage do eventing!!! ( XC, show jumping, dressage)
thats bad !!!!
Yeah! As show jumping and dressage goes hand in hand! I do, do evening mind U!!
i HATE when people don't call it a sport
like seriously, even chess are considered a sport
SAAAAME DUDE
Even fishing is considered a sport and if you are float fishing or ledgering you really are just sat there!
@@catcraft5527 A rider, especially this one, doesn't 'just sit' there.
It's not just a sport; it's an art.
Put them on a horse for 1 hour and let them complain about the muscles pain after. ;)
Not one tail swish during the whole performance. 100% relaxed.
This is how dressage should be! These two are so obviously a team, and he trusts his rider. This kind of trust takes a long time to gain. Kudos to them both.
Classical dressage is how it should be. This? No. It's better than what's been but not good lol
@@turkeyburglarjones6148 it's world record. It's the best one out there
Sophie Woo but have you ever researched dressage? Like it’s original purpose and correctness?
I know right? I love those two :)
This is not dressage
This horse has got to be one of the most stunning and beautiful looking of them all. The rider did a fantastic job as well.. Such light, natural movement.. Perfect head position. They work amazing together 🙂
On another hand.. Did any HTTYD fans notice the music within the first 60 seconds of the video?? I know I did.. Excellent choice!!
Yea really good horse breed!
She has tallent but that hirse is MAGICAL!
Katarina Duskstar I know I did.
yep!
#httydisthebest🐲
OMG! how to train your dragon soundtrack is amazing with this
Glad you like it :)
I want to say that too lol!
You can see Charlotte and valegro have a real bind, especially at the end when Charlotte let's him walk buckle end without her hands even on him. This really surprised me, this is the first valegro I have ever watched and I knew it was awesome but I didn't know it was this jaw droppingly amazing fantastic. There is no way to describe how valegro flows and moves with Charlotte
Well this aged poorly💀
This hits differently now
Agree.
@@melgrant7404agreed sadly
Wow if world record breaking Dressage can still get hate from people the rest of us should just give up then! This gave me goosebumps it was outstanding!
The horse was brilliant but the girl looked like a Polly bag blowing in the wind, but I suppose it the whole Bhs thing
heather keenan your just upset because she's british
I an also british, i think the bhs is terrible
+heather keenan This was an FEI event ..
LOVE IT!
his concentrating so hard bless him! his like I got this don't worry! x
+lizzy bridge Yes but its not just the horse the rider does most of the work too! But I just have to admit that I have never seen such a horse LOL!
It’s pleasant to see how comfortable this horse is while doing everything.
Didn't age well..this horse has been whipped thousands of times
.Ban this sport!
she makes it look as if dressage was the easiest thing in the world - like how
i usually am not impressed with dressage (my own personal preference) But this is gorgeous.
I love the extended trot. And what a STUNNING horse!!!
That canter half pass and canter pirouette 😍😍 this is truly dressage at its finest
Anna Scholle I hope you’ve gained some respect for the English method, then.
5:10 my heart amost stopped. so powerful! amazing performance!
I love the lead changes in 4:20😍
this horse looks peaceful while doing this. I thank you for treating this horse well during training. They look awesome.
I love how she pets him from time to time after the difficult exercises ❤
after the MORE difficult exercises* ;)
Probably because the horse was whipped a few thousand times leading up to this.
The only dressage I have seen that brought tears of joy to my eyes :)
Look at the Freestyle of Kristina Bröring-sprehe and Desperados in Balve.. this is also such a nice performance :)
That horse is just gorgeous. I'm always amazed how they train the horses to have enough body awareness for that kind of footwork.
This has been my favorite dressage pair for years... It just hits different now.😞
No horse person will watch this and not tear up - in a good way. Majestic. Mesmerizing. Hypnotic.
Other people: It’s not a sport!
Me: your right. It’s an art ❤️
This comment is as beautiful as the performance
Well said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
2 MILLION VIEWS! We did it everyone, long live Valegro!
@star stable yarin lol.
Hayden Nightlake : Hayden, I could watch this another two million times!
Absolutely beautiful. He moves so naturally and seems to really enjoy his job, especially with his incredible team mate/rider. Such a perfect team❤️
I was there!!!! It was incredible!!! She’s such an amazing rider and so kind to her horses.
That horse was so happy the entire time especially at the end when the rider patted him :))
I agree! That is the only thing annoying me about this all, otherwise I find them outstanding! :D
Somewhat broken at 3rd? How about constantly. A little too much rein? How about WAY too much rein, look at the curb shanks. Leg? All over the place. If this is record breaking dressage, well, it's just short of disgusting.
hossjulia Oh yeah, then she beats him at the end. Horses are not dogs, they don't like being "hit". They get used to it, but it's bad horsemanship.
hossjulia It is very incorrect in the front compared to complete classical, but I mean it is SO much better than the usual sight, I'll cut him slack.
Stunning and beautiful! Horse and rider showing such concentration! Perfection!
i get goosebumps every time i watch it. this is perfect harmony between valegro and charlotte, and so in tune with the music as well. a performance truly worth its status as world record.
It's amazing What horses can do, some people think it's easy but this requires hours and hours of practice. I also love how she lets go of the reins and congratulates him, some riders are really harsh and they dont pet them.
6:00 ish the trasitions between tight high lifts and extended long strides back to tight high lifts without breaking step.
Am I the only one that cried while watching this?I have seen this video for about 6 times and I still think that I will never get bored of this
no other words but perfection, such an amazing connection between them
ive watched this so many times and just love it even more!!!!!!!!!
The more I watch it, the more I love it! Fantastic Charlotte and Valegro!

Hanna.m I’m sort of hooked on watching too. Nothing else I've watched compares.
Absolutely beautiful, I must have watched this ride a hundred times now but still love it every time :)
This honestly sends shivers down my spine - I have watched it so many times and it gets better every time!! Charlotte is my idol an my absolute dream is to make it to the Olympics and compete in dressage! 10/10 performance well done
Valegro looks so happy at the end too 😄
I love that she is riding to the How To Train Your Dragon soundtracks. The soundtrack fits the freestyle so well, and the music is epic!

omg same
OMG SAME!!! at the beginning me: OMG HTTRD MUSIC‼️‼️‼️
I literally was like... John Powell? WHAT?! I thought I left the musician side of TH-cam about 20 mins ago but now I must go back.
Incredibly beautiful team of horse and rider. The music is outstanding.
I love how light she is with her hands and you can barely see her give commands to Valegro!!! Love this❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was incredible. These two were incredible and absolutely beautiful to watch. I can only describe them as ‘poetry in motion’
This horse is just unbelievable. Valegro is so perfect and Charlotte works great with him🥺😍😍😍🐴
Charlotte is just so amazing and I just love her, so inspiring.
Litreally the most beautiful dressage , Valegro just flows with every single step.

TOTALLY DESERVED THE WORLD RECORD ( again )
Ps httyd music just works, yay :D
Sublime! I'm so glad this is beautifully filmed and available for all to watch on TH-cam. A performance for the ages.
Phenomenal! I know this is an old video, but I could watch it over and over. That trot is so purposeful and forward, and those leg yields! Beautiful.
The both are so great !!! I love her happines after the show. You see she is so proud of her Valegro :-)
The horse looked totally relaxed during the ride!!! 😍🤩 never seen such great riding style before Love them!!!
if you're saying that dressage is abuse you've clearly never ridden a horse before okay
Dressage CAN be like yoga and good for the horse. Competitive dressage is not good for any horse
@Addison Leppert Yoga AND weight lifting at the same time.
The only thing they had going for them is that Valegro is slightly more correct than most horses his level, but that doesn't make him classical or correct by any means
c.m. That’s what it should be. Many top riders only see the competition tho
Omg watch Valegro do those flying lead changes and the counter half puroets!! God! I almost was put into tears how beautiful and stunning he moves, his figure and movements aren't stiff and uncomfortable, he holds himself well and moves gorgeously with ease!!!!!
Chills. Every time I watch this I get chills. It’s a work of art. Absolutely beautiful. Amazing connection between horse and rider.
The end of 2020 and still impressed with this performance, it really inspire me one day I'll be in the same level by working hard and I'll represent my country MOROCCO.
I have been riding 23 years since I was 6, I am perfectly happy staying at intro level 😂
PERFECTION!!!!
It looks effortless and like Valegro does it all. Its so beautiful, I am honoured to be able to see this absolute work of astounding art
This pair are just magnificent, Valegro is so powerful yet so graceful.
Velegro is so pretty. I love watching you and Velegro fly across the paddock. It's so pretty.
0:33 SO PERFECT. SO SQUARE. This alone shows how amazing this horse and rider are
Absolutely beautiful performance.
CeltycSparrow he certainly has musicality and he knows how to PLIÉ.
Wow, I just have no words. Perfection. What a rider, what a horse. His side passes at the trot are perfect.
How could there possibly be so many dislikes for this amazing horse? There are no words to describe his incredible talent!
