Even while they were being HUNTED across the country the team still had time to mourn a friend. That shows the kind of commitment soldiers have to fallen colleagues. That brotherhood still endures.

Even as disgraced fugitives, pursued and hounded by military police, the A-Team still maintain their own unit discipline. They address each other by rank -- not all of the time, but often enough to emphasize that their chain of command remains intact. They respect Hannibal's authority as their commanding officer, and follow his orders even if they don't agree with him on everything. And despite occasional bickering (especially between B.A. and Murdock), they never turn on each other. Their loyalty to each other and their leader is never in question.

A fun show I loved growing up. But watching this clip here and now...it struck a different chord. Thirteen years ago...March 31st 2008... my father a vet...died after fighting lung cancer for 18 months. This scene brought back memories of his service. Police escorts....they drive ahead so no lights to stop us. All cars pulled over with their lights out and some got out and lowered their faces. I recalled a pedestrian dropped his face and covered his hat with his heart. When we got to the veterans cemetery... the two officers drove ahead so they could dismount their motorcycles and saluted as we passed. The part that broke me the most was when they handed me his flag. M6 mother and wife each used their handkerchiefs to wipe my face as the tears flowed as the gravity hit me. It's an intense time.
Great show and can hit you in different ways as time passes.

What this makes me feel is, how many soldiers passed to this little fanfare, just a few friends remembering what was? Those who served deserve better from we who remain. Whether you agree with the conflict or not, the sacrifices made in these situations should not be ignored, nor the hardships endured. Be grateful for the soldiers who preserve our lifestyle, or else be prepared to lose it.

It's also strange: 1) that they have a bearing detail with only 3 soldiers in it, 2) that the bearing detail and the firing detail are the same detail, 3) that members of the firing detail are facing towards(!) each other, 4) that they seem to be using live ammo -- since they do not charge their rifles after each round they fire, which they would need to do if they were firing blanks from M16s without blank-firing adapters -- and 5) that they are only firing a total of 9 rounds for their salute instead of either 15 or 21 rounds.
Granted, they only have 3 soldiers other than Hannibal, but they could have easily just done a 3-man flag-folding detail if that were the case.
That said, I loved this show as a kid, and still do, but after spending many years in the Army -- where I have been tasked to funeral details before -- I can't ignore the irregularities and deficiencies...and those really are some jacked-up berets and "groomin' standurds," even for SF soldiers in the 1980s.
