Cody and the Big Horns are a magnificent area in the Cowboy state. I really enjoy the history and culture of the areas you visit; reminds me of the old travelogues that the theaters used to run before the feature movie. Yes, I'm that old, and watch Turner Classic Movies too. Thanks for taking me back to 1968 when I first laid eyes on this part of Wyoming! Post Script: The Japanese American citizens' internment was a shameful chapter in our Nation's history but you addressed it with respect and dignity to those who lost their homes and livlihoods to political over reaction.
Thanks for the great adventure, Marc. What a place to visit. The many museums were such a treat and it's great that they allowed you some access to video the various exhibits and art pieces. That one juvenile gray wolf cub exhibit that you zoomed up on looked so authentic. His nose looked a little dry, like he had a cold or something. Treating that with just a slight highlight here and there of traces of soft semi gloss, would have improved the wetness effect even more... imo.😊 Gord

I was just in Cody the 8th through 10th of September. Kept my rv in town but , drove to Yellowstone and explored campgrounds along the way. Beautiful area. The Buffalo Bill museum is outstanding.
Another Great Video! Could you put down the names of the songs used on SoundStripe? The Old Town @ 18:00 ...the base line music is great! My stereo needs some exercise! Last time I was at the Museum I bought some posters from them. See banners on the building @ 9:43. Riding Cowboy. Somehow those beautiful framed posters ended up on the family room wall....replacing those old wedding pictures, yeah we are still married.

Cody also put on a show, in Pendleton, Or. It was always after the rodeo. They call it the HAPPY CANYON show. It still goes on this day. After each rodeo, at the Pendleton Round Up.

The Buffalo Bill Center of the West and old town Cody and Heart Mountain Interpretive Center are now on my must-see list next time we visit the area. Hope you find a great spot in the Bighorns, last September we had trouble finding a boondocking spot because most of them were already taken by hunters setting up their camps. Still, we had a beautiful stay at Shell Creek campground. Thanks so much for sharing and safe travels!

Another great episode Marc. People say that what happened with the Japanese Americans could never happen again. The internment of the Japanese was because fear. Fear is a great motivator/controller. We gave up many of our Rights because of fear after 9/11. We were arresting people on the beach because of fear during the Covid era. People are easily manipulated through fear, so we will certainly see more loss of freedom in the future through fear. There's always a boogie man.
Fear does indeed drive us to do strange things, Frank. As I go to great pains to avoid saying anything on the channel that could be construed as controversial, I hope that you'll forgive me if I limit my response any further. 😉
We loved our stay in Cody. My Wife bought Cowboy boots in town. We went to that big Rodeo. Was fun but the wind that night was extreme. There is a bar at the Erma Hotel that Queen Victoria had built and sent as a gift from France. We camped at that last area you showed. Just a Beautiful area. Thank you for taking us back there.
No Sylvain, we winter at Mountain Shadows, an RV park about a 25-minute drive from Alta 's lifts. Jordanelle would be too far and inconvenient, not to mention that there are no hookups at Jordanelle in winter.

Nice Cody coverage. Been years since we stayed at that campground by the reservoir. Great town we enjoyed it. We are looking forward to the Bighorns. We love them and plan to go and do some boondocking ourselves. Safe travels and take care!!
I spent 10 days in Cody earlier this year before I had to cancel the rest of our Alaska trip to support my sister in Missouri going through lung surgery. Made several (long) trips into Yellowstone and explored some of the areas around Cody. Need to go back. I was planning on boondocking east of town but the references I looked at said they're all closed when I was there. I drove out that way anyway to see if I could find some of the wild horses and noticed the boondocking locations were wide open. (I did get to see a herd from a couple of miles away and one lone horse I was able to get to within a couple hundred feet for photos.). Looking foward to watching your video.

Great video Mark! We love Cody! Planning to spend more time there next year. The state park is awesome! We were in the middle loop when we went west and the last loop going east. They had just finished hooking up electrical in the middle loop as we checked in.
Yep, that's how we got lucky. We had a reservation in the last loop, but when we got there we asked if they happened to have an electrical vacancy and they stuck us in the middle loop instead, as not even Reserve America had those sites listed as electric yet.
A very good show. Heart Mountain is a very sad story that need told over and over again. These were American Citizens and legal immigrants. Do not forget it can happen again.

Thank YOU as always! You not only need a whole day, but the Buffalo Bill Center of the West admission is good for two consecutive days...for a good reason. This is the third internment camp we've visited, and we always find those experiences to be very, very moving.

Another outstanding video Marc! Your camera and editing work is top notch! Off subject question for you... How do you like your KZ 5er? Been looking to get the 240rkd but am interested in how they are holding up. Haven't really heard anything much, good or bad, about KZ. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Stay safe and enjoy the trail!
Thank you Michael! Now, understand that we have no business relationship with KZ whatsoever other than being very happy customers. Our warranty punch list at the 2-year mark consisted of about a half dozen items, all of which were strictly cosmetic in nature - and they took care of every one of those items at their customer service center in Indiana while we were there, and even some things that they noticed that I didn't have on the list. The one other problem I had in those first two years was I had a main neutral into the service panel wiggle loose, which scorched the service panel when it arced. I sent an Instagram message to KZ. Within 10 minutes a service tech was calling me, offered to overnight a new service panel to our location in Montana, and hire any electrician to replace the service panel and send them the bill. I sure couldn't ask for anything more than that! One January we were heading down to Quartzsite from Salt Lake City, and when I went to leave one of the rear jacks would not raise. I called KZ, they got a tech from Lippert on the phone, and together they talked me through tracing back to where I had knocked one of the connections loose. Again, what more could I ask for? Finally, We came away from our Durango plant visit th-cam.com/video/im7lflhuoYQ/w-d-xo.html wholly impressed by the focus they place on quality, including a 10% bonus for plant workers who meet their quality audit targets. Unlike some other brands that pump out a hundred or more units per day, Durango produces 10 units per day. I believe that smaller factory allows them to keep a closer eye on quality, and we left with the impression that they truly care. That has certainly been our experience, and when the day comes that we decide to replace this trailer I will not hesitate for a moment to find a Durango. Hope that helps!
Nice video! Your shots really covered the area well. There was that one cliff next to the rodeo with the discoloration in the rock: we went back in the afternoon to take a picture of it, but the sunlight all but made it disappear. However, you captured it perfectly. It was amazing how fast the weather changed! Glad you were able to get away from work and see the sites. Were you able to do the museum for two days or did you cut it down to one? The video of an actual Buffalo Bill show was pretty cool. The Old Town was really done well. I was happy to see you made it to there and you got some great shots there as well. Amazing the story of Heart Mountain Relocation. It is scary to think our government was able to do this. Cannot imagine being Japanese and being removed from our home and put in some cold distance place not knowing how long we would have to stay there. Thanks for covering the Cody area! Ram 👍🏼👍🏾 P.S. We considered ourselves to be so incredibly fortunate to have crossed paths with both of you again. With my work itinerary, we crammed the entire Buffalo Bill Center into one day, plus Old Trail Town, too. That's not an optimal way to do it, but we made it work.
We loved our stop at the Dam, the town of Cody, the Cody Gun Experience, Old Town and the Erma Hotel, had no idea that Heart Mountain was one of those camp, we have been to two of them so far, Manzanar and one at Delta Utah.
We never knew that there was one in Delta -- thanks for that! We've driven past Manzanar but were on a deadline and couldn't stop to explore. One of the most impressive we've seen is at Minidoka National Historic Site in Idaho th-cam.com/video/S6PLhP_J48w/w-d-xo.html but we've also been to the site of the one at Poston, AZ.
@@GrandAdventure the one in Delta is pretty much gone. You drive for miles and think you’ve gone in the wrong direction, there’s not much of it left, but they do have a decent memorial there. It sits out in the middle of the high desert and they had no view whatsoever, unlike Manzanar. Safe travels ✌️
Cody is one of my favorite towns in Wyoming and we’ve stopped there many times. The Cody Museum really is special. Being a University of Wyoming grad, I have friends in Lovell and Cody. Thanks for a great tour.
We've loved spending time in Cody over the years... The shootout re-enactments on Main Street, the restaurants, the museums, and last time we were there, meeting Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars at the RV Park in town where he was camping. He let all the kids in the park get their pictures taken with him. Bill Cody is significant to my family--my great grandfather spent a summer hunting with him. His Scout Ranch in North Platte is another fun place to visit. As always, thanks for the great content!

@@shaggywagshaggywag no. Only lands administered by the National Park Service are limited by National Park drone restrictions. This campground is a Wyoming state park. Even in states that ban drone use in state parks (and even National Parks for that matter), they can only prohibit you from taking off from, or landing on their property. They have no authority over airspace, so they can't prevent you from flying over land if you take off and land from somewhere else, no more than they can prohibit an airplane from flying over. You MUST be aware of land ownership boundaries.

Another outstanding video Marc! Your camera and editing work is top notch! Off subject question for you... How do you like your KZ 5er? Been looking to get the 240rkd but am interested in how they are holding up. Haven't really heard anything much, good or bad, about KZ. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Michael! Now, understand that we have no business relationship with KZ whatsoever other than being very happy customers. Our warranty punch list at the 2-year mark consisted of about a half dozen items, all of which were strictly cosmetic in nature - and they took care of every one of those items at their customer service center in Indiana while we were there, and even some things that they noticed that I didn't have on the list.
The one other problem I had in those first two years was I had a main neutral into the service panel wiggle loose, which scorched the service panel when it arced. I sent an Instagram message to KZ. Within 10 minutes a service tech was calling me, offered to overnight a new service panel to our location in Montana, and hire any electrician to replace the service panel and send them the bill. I sure couldn't ask for anything more than that!
One January we were heading down to Quartzsite from Salt Lake City, and when I went to leave one of the rear jacks would not raise. I called KZ, they got a tech from Lippert on the phone, and together they talked me through tracing back to where I had knocked one of the connections loose. Again, what more could I ask for?
Finally, We came away from our Durango plant visit th-cam.com/video/im7lflhuoYQ/w-d-xo.html wholly impressed by the focus they place on quality, including a 10% bonus for plant workers who meet their quality audit targets. Unlike some other brands that pump out a hundred or more units per day, Durango produces 10 units per day. I believe that smaller factory allows them to keep a closer eye on quality, and we left with the impression that they truly care. That has certainly been our experience, and when the day comes that we decide to replace this trailer I will not hesitate for a moment to find a Durango.

Nice video! Your shots really covered the area well. There was that one cliff next to the rodeo with the discoloration in the rock: we went back in the afternoon to take a picture of it, but the sunlight all but made it disappear. However, you captured it perfectly.
It was amazing how fast the weather changed!

The Old Town was really done well. I was happy to see you made it to there and you got some great shots there as well.
Amazing the story of Heart Mountain Relocation. It is scary to think our government was able to do this. Cannot imagine being Japanese and being removed from our home and put in some cold distance place not knowing how long we would have to stay there.

We considered ourselves to be so incredibly fortunate to have crossed paths with both of you again. With my work itinerary, we crammed the entire Buffalo Bill Center into one day, plus Old Trail Town, too. That's not an optimal way to do it, but we made it work.

We loved our stop at the Dam, the town of Cody, the Cody Gun Experience, Old Town and the Erma Hotel, had no idea that Heart Mountain was one of those camp, we have been to two of them so far, Manzanar and one at Delta Utah.
We never knew that there was one in Delta -- thanks for that! We've driven past Manzanar but were on a deadline and couldn't stop to explore. One of the most impressive we've seen is at Minidoka National Historic Site in Idaho th-cam.com/video/S6PLhP_J48w/w-d-xo.html but we've also been to the site of the one at Poston, AZ.
@@GrandAdventure the one in Delta is pretty much gone. You drive for miles and think you’ve gone in the wrong direction, there’s not much of it left, but they do have a decent memorial there. It sits out in the middle of the high desert and they had no view whatsoever, unlike Manzanar. Safe travels ✌️

Cody is one of my favorite towns in Wyoming and we’ve stopped there many times. The Cody Museum really is special. Being a University of Wyoming grad, I have friends in Lovell and Cody. Thanks for a great tour.

We've loved spending time in Cody over the years... The shootout re-enactments on Main Street, the restaurants, the museums, and last time we were there, meeting Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars at the RV Park in town where he was camping. He let all the kids in the park get their pictures taken with him. Bill Cody is significant to my family--my great grandfather spent a summer hunting with him. His Scout Ranch in North Platte is another fun place to visit. As always, thanks for the great content!

@@shaggywagshaggywag no. Only lands administered by the National Park Service are limited by National Park drone restrictions. This campground is a Wyoming state park. Even in states that ban drone use in state parks (and even National Parks for that matter), they can only prohibit you from taking off from, or landing on their property. They have no authority over airspace, so they can't prevent you from flying over land if you take off and land from somewhere else, no more than they can prohibit an airplane from flying over. You MUST be aware of land ownership boundaries.
