The purpose of drilling out the lock is to destroy the pins inside the lock, once the pins are gone you can rotate the lock the open it. But apparently just getting a drill bit the size of the whole lock works as well LOL.

I accidently did this to myself while troubleshooting. Pulled the relay, dropped it, forgot that I did, commenced troubleshooting on 2nd car. Removed the 2 relays I needed from 2nd car, put them back in my car, wouldn't start. Later realized it was actually 3 relays... the 2 I was testing with and the 1 that I dropped. So can confirm, very effective at preventing the car from starting. 😂

I had a 93 accord. Known probably best for how often theyre stolen. Got a club from autobone. Drove outta town to pick up a buddy for a 5+ hour road trip. The club lock jammed and wouldnt come off so I ended up using a hack saw his neighbor had to cut through it. Took like an hour. Great start to our trip lol
One advantage to having lived over on the West coast, was being able to have a Ravelco installed on my truck. It's an advanced killswitch that is hidden in your engine wiring, and has a separate cannon plug key. To this date I have yet to see a vehicle with one installed get stolen. Piece of mind while I lived close to the border. I'd put it up against Lockpickinglawyer lol
I have seen a classic Ferrari with something like that. It was like a plug that the wire harness went into and had a big round key with like 60 pins to complete the connection

60 minutes did an episode a long time ago on how ineffective ‘the club’ is. Take a handsaw to the steering wheel and you can have it off in 30seconds or less.
I bought and sold Old vans and would convert them into campers (for super cheap) like free mattress off Craigslist cheap. And I'd sell for profit and I went from having Nothing to my name to owning a 50,000$ vehicle just by buying and making camper vans. Its a good hussle. I put solar panels on them too, wood floors, get supplies from used discount building supply stores and stuff thats on sale lol.

I like the killswitch the most because it doesn't draw attention to your car by thieves and it will still make it difficult for thieves to up and steal it if they do choose to break in. Manual transmission is still the best theft deterrent device out there, though.

9:18 since the ratchet mechanism is spring loaded, I think you could just stick a shim in there to release it, much the same way you can with handcuffs.
I learned this on a TV news report back in the day wheel the Club locks had been out for a few years . The quickest way to defeat the Club steering wheel lock evolved 2 things . 1. A hammer 2. A can of air that you use for cleaning electronics . You would shake the air can really well and then turn it upside down and spray all the contents straight into the lock . This will freeze the internals of the lock and then smack it with a hammer . It would have taken much less time than using the drill and changing the bits. You could have probably done the same with the clutch lock bar . Jay Leno said it best that the best car thief deterrent is a manual transmission !
11:20 we have the same one for a parked car. You can just flip it over the other side is made of metal. If the rubber insulated side is on the brake pedal it's harder to get a bolt cutter in to cut it. Is harder to put on that way tho.

There are TWO final resorts after they've busted the club and found your kill switch. The alarm is nice but NOTHING beats a kill timer that emulates the lojack shutting her off.
I've always wanted to add a small board to the can bus of my car, which pretends to be sensors after a minute, making the car throw all kinds of errors on the dash and stopping the car.
Could also just install a fuel shut off valve to the fuel line, which would do the same thing. Car would start, but then stall. Set it up so you wouldn't need to open the hood though.
as for the window keypad, something important to keep in mind is that as they get old, they stop wanting to open. We have these at my job and there have been plenty of times where I had to call the owner to bring his key because the lock wouldn't open.
I've actually had to break into my own before. My roommate closed my keys in my trunk and, my God was it a nightmare. Fortunately I didn't have to woody about Amazon anti-theft devices lol! Awesome video, you guys are great!

I got it open using a small branch and a shoelace lol. The window has to be an inch cracked. But I tied the shoestring to the end of the small branch, and tied a slipknot on the other side dangling down. I got the loop over the lock and pulled the stick and it tightened up and pulled it open!! I did it more than once in that vehicle too. Funny, a stick and a shoestring...

For the killswitch you want to tie it to your fuel system, ideally fuel pump or fuel pump relay, to keep the car from being flooded and contaminating your oil or potentially hydrolocking
I saw one where owner had it hooked to the switch in the seatbelt buckle. It worked too they cranked it dead and left it. I gave him a boost and he started it with a screwdriver and drove it home. Nobody is going to put their seatbelt on punching an ignition.
You could even go a step farther and put it on the passenger side. So even if the theif used their seatbelt, odds are they won't have a buddy that would too

They also make kill switches that are wireless so you can hide them in almost impossible to find places and keypad combo versions if you want to be all slick like Jason Statham in The Transporter (but those are easy to defeat).

A secret to Club locks is to install them back to front across the top of the steering wheel so the keyhole faces the windscreen. This way the lock cannot be drilled out or removed with a slide hammer, this also defeats another weakness which is putting your feet onto the steering wheel & pulling at the handle hoping to break one of the hooks off. Something that happened to a friend when he returned to find his car missing & his Club lock minus one hook lying in the gutter
I think with a lot of these products work on the visual deterrence factor, that said a skilled crook can defeat them super fast. Overall, the kill switch is the best since no one bats an eye at a car alarm but a car cranking draws a crowd so fast 🤔...
when trying to remove a cheap core from a cheap lock housing, I suggest a slide hammer. And for killswitches, maximum fun is to hook it up to the fuel pump instead of the starter: that way the thief gets a bit dont he road and then has to abandon the attention seeking stalled car that wont restart. If the car doesnt start up the first or second time, they'll look for the killswitch.
It seems that whenever I install one of these devices I'm the one who gets locked out. I had a fuel shut off switch on one of my cars. I accidently bumped the switch on day. The next time I used the car it went about four blocks & stopped. I had it towed back home & the next day I found out the kill switch was on. And don't even mention how many folks couldn't stat their cars because of faulty or lost chip keys.
@@n.mcneil4066 When I installed my fuel pump kill switch, I added a small lamp in series so that there was a visible indicator of when it was on or off.
@@aradia1379 putting an interior siren in line would be fun also; if the hidden switch is open and in disable mode, the siren will blast in the ears of whoever's trying to start the car 🙃

I bought and sold Old vans and would convert them into campers (for super cheap) like free mattress off Craigslist cheap. And I'd sell for profit and I went from having Nothing to my name to owning a 50,000$ vehicle just by buying and making camper vans. Its a good hussle. I put solar panels on them too, wood floors, get supplies from used discount building supply stores and stuff thats on sale lol.

I learned this on a TV news report back in the day wheel the Club locks had been out for a few years . The quickest way to defeat the Club steering wheel lock evolved 2 things . 1. A hammer 2. A can of air that you use for cleaning electronics . You would shake the air can really well and then turn it upside down and spray all the contents straight into the lock . This will freeze the internals of the lock and then smack it with a hammer . It would have taken much less time than using the drill and changing the bits. You could have probably done the same with the clutch lock bar . Jay Leno said it best that the best car thief deterrent is a manual transmission !

11:20 we have the same one for a parked car. You can just flip it over the other side is made of metal. If the rubber insulated side is on the brake pedal it's harder to get a bolt cutter in to cut it. Is harder to put on that way tho.

There are TWO final resorts after they've busted the club and found your kill switch. The alarm is nice but NOTHING beats a kill timer that emulates the lojack shutting her off.
I've always wanted to add a small board to the can bus of my car, which pretends to be sensors after a minute, making the car throw all kinds of errors on the dash and stopping the car.
Could also just install a fuel shut off valve to the fuel line, which would do the same thing. Car would start, but then stall. Set it up so you wouldn't need to open the hood though.
I'm glad they pointed out that security is about deterrent not impossibility. That's something a distressing amount of people don't realize.

as for the window keypad, something important to keep in mind is that as they get old, they stop wanting to open. We have these at my job and there have been plenty of times where I had to call the owner to bring his key because the lock wouldn't open.

I've had to break into my old van i use to own it has the old school locks you pull and push up and down the little peg. I got it open using a small branch and a shoelace lol. The window has to be an inch cracked. But I tied the shoestring to the end of the small branch, and tied a slipknot on the other side dangling down. I got the loop over the lock and pulled the stick and it tightened up and pulled it open!! I did it more than once in that vehicle too. Funny, a stick and a shoestring...
Like a Caveman could do that. Except I just realized they obviously didn't have shoes.

I love how the actual car alarm went off AFTER you managed to get in and disable the kill switch.
For the killswitch you want to tie it to your fuel system, ideally fuel pump or fuel pump relay, to keep the car from being flooded and contaminating your oil or potentially hydrolocking

I saw one where owner had it hooked to the switch in the seatbelt buckle. It worked too they cranked it dead and left it. I gave him a boost and he started it with a screwdriver and drove it home. Nobody is going to put their seatbelt on punching an ignition.

You could even go a step farther and put it on the passenger side. So even if the theif used their seatbelt, odds are they won't have a buddy that would too

I think the kill switch would be an amazing anti-theft feature here in Italy, I don't think there are so many kill switch provided cars here...
They also make kill switches that are wireless so you can hide them in almost impossible to find places and keypad combo versions if you want to be all slick like Jason Statham in The Transporter (but those are easy to defeat).

A secret to Club locks is to install them back to front across the top of the steering wheel so the keyhole faces the windscreen. This way the lock cannot be drilled out or removed with a slide hammer, this also defeats another weakness which is putting your feet onto the steering wheel & pulling at the handle hoping to break one of the hooks off. Something that happened to a friend when he returned to find his car missing & his Club lock minus one hook lying in the gutter

I think with a lot of these products work on the visual deterrence factor, that said a skilled crook can defeat them super fast. Overall, the kill switch is the best since no one bats an eye at a car alarm but a car cranking draws a crowd so fast 🤔...
when trying to remove a cheap core from a cheap lock housing, I suggest a slide hammer.
And for killswitches, maximum fun is to hook it up to the fuel pump instead of the starter: that way the thief gets a bit dont he road and then has to abandon the attention seeking stalled car that wont restart. If the car doesnt start up the first or second time, they'll look for the killswitch.
It seems that whenever I install one of these devices I'm the one who gets locked out. I had a fuel shut off switch on one of my cars. I accidently bumped the switch on day. The next time I used the car it went about four blocks & stopped. I had it towed back home & the next day I found out the kill switch was on. And don't even mention how many folks couldn't stat their cars because of faulty or lost chip keys.
@@n.mcneil4066 When I installed my fuel pump kill switch, I added a small lamp in series so that there was a visible indicator of when it was on or off.

I think I saw someone awhile back remove "The Club" by hacksawing through the steering wheel, and just slipping it off. I don't know if that's still an option today.
