    As an aspiring old man with minor eye issues, I can confirm yellow glasses do tone down the harshness of oncoming headlights, it turns incandescent lights yellowish and blue xenon lights to a more pure white. Also, you’re pretty much getting ripped off if you pay $20 for a pair.

    A lady I used to see had a nerve problem which made one of her pupils stay maxed out, she couldn't drive at night because of this. I grabbed an pair of amber safety glasses from the hardware store and built a thing that would clip onto her glasses and cover the bad eye with the amber lens. It ended up working great, she was able to drive at night again without being blinded in one eye by every oncoming car.

    I actually had the panoramic mirror in my truck for 7 years (but one from autozone) and really loved it. In a car its to big, but a truck it doesnt block your view. Plus I drove a crew cab, so I was able to see the full back seat and I could see both my blind spots and tail gate with it adjusted correctly. Kinda wish you would have spent a little more time trying these in different vehicles.

      @The_FS13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I wouldn't say I have severe eye issues but I do wear regular glases and recently I got a new pair that has magnetic lenses I can clip on top of the regular ones, my eyes are a bit too sensible to light and the yellow driving lenses that I can clip on top are a must for me, without them I'll drive for a couple hours and my eyes will be bright red while with the yellow lenses on top I can got for more than double the time without my eyes getting tired, those on the video do seem crazy expensive but you can get some that do work nicely, also, older yellow french cars had yellow headlights for a reason, it's not about being able to see better it's about not getting tired as quickly.

      Yeah that was my thinking. They generally only think about consumer usage, but there are plenty of use cases professionally, where this is very solid. Not saying this one specifically is good, but the product in general is definitely worth it if this is a regular thing.
      Also I don't even own a jerrycan, so it's not like they are a common for consumers anyway. They used to be with so many tools being gas powered. But with battery taking over, I don't see why most would need this, unless they have vehicles that you can't just take to a pump. As a consumer that is. If you have a car dealership/garage, this is definitely useful

    • @philippvarus6034
      @philippvarus6034 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know your comment is around a year old, but there are way better options. Optician here :) The better Option is to buy glasses with "blue protect" They are normal white 100% clear, no Yellow. The Upper Coat absorbs the critical portion of the LED Headlight spectrum. Giving you perfect sight while also lowering the LED Lights. Those yellow glasses, they work in a kinda way of block nearly all blue light but many colors contain it in a way, meaning: Warning colors get worse to see.
      And they take a portion of light away, meaning: Worse sight in Bad light situations.

    Yellow lenses help with night time driving for people with astigmatism. It helps block out the "flares"(if you don't have astigmatism, then you won't understand), that can be quite blinding. But...you don't have to spend $80 as any yellow lenses work for the most part. I wear $6 yellow lens safety glasses at night, and it works well.

    Truck driver here. 5:20 segment of the video and night time glasses. I work at night driving a lot of back highways and what not. I was coming home with consent migraine headaches from people driving both behind and at the truck with their high beams on. From the back is way worse cause it/they are consistently bouncing off the mirrors into you eyes. I finally talk to my Optometrist and got actual night time prescription glasses. No more migraine headaches. But if you think $80 is expensive. Every time my prescription changes for my normal glasses I pay $1100-1200 for new night glasses....worth every single cent.

    those yellow glasses definitely help those with astigmatism, or LASIK for night driving, I was legally blind most of my life, had LASIK it made light diffract a lot worse at night for me, but gave me depth and spatial reasoning, the yellow glasses make a serious difference on a highway at night
    its not that they make it easier to see at night, but it helps prevent you from getting blinded and needing a second to recover your vision in the darker spots while driving
    (basically helps keep your pupils from dilating to small for the situation, as your eyes go "oh its day" and go smaller, but actually need to be bigger to continually see the dark sections coming up.)

      The logic behind them by the way is that the blue color receptors in your eye are not very sensitive in low light. So if you wear yellow glasses (i.e. blocking blue channel), it doesn't affect your ability to see in low light very much...but when a car's headlights are shining towards you, the glasses are cutting out at least one part of that light, making it a little less bright.

As for the 360 swivel seat they work best if you back in, sit down with your legs still outside the car, then swivel in; it's great if you have a cast on your leg, or are unable to bend/move normally, like being paralyzed from the waist down.

      I think this is exactly the problem. You're not supposed to look at your passengers when you're driving. The increased field of view doesn't make driving any safer, but distracts you with faces of your passengers and blocks your view of the road in front.
      I think this gadget is dangerous.

      @@violonicit's not about consciously looking at them, it's that every time you want to check your back you see their faces and it distracts you. And also you see them all the time in the corner of your eye even if you look forwards. I think it would make it harder for me to stay focused on the road. The standard mirrors in cars are designed to give you the road and just the road, nothing more, nothing less.

Depending on the vehicle style, sometimes they're better or worse. But I recommend them regardless. They're really nice in a two door truck.

    With a longer hose, the gas pump would be perfect for boats. Especially aluminum boats. You could use it both as an emergency pump and for filling the gas tank from the jerry can on the dock.
    That's where most gas accidentally gets spilled.

    The yellow glasses actually help in dimly-lit situations, including bad weather. Back when I was racing, I always kept a yellow-tinted visor for my helmet for races in the rain. To this day, I still keep a pair of yellow glasses in my truck.

  • @mikejulien2330

    having driven professionally, I actually do find yellow lenses helpful. The use case is pretty small, but If it's raining at night, having polarized yellow lenses cut the glare from puddles and headlights and increases contrast. Makes things a bit dimmer in general cause of the slight tint, but they can be helpful. again, pretty rare that I would wear them, but in some cases it can be good. don't think the average driver is going to get a ton of use out of it...
