Looks great Phil! I'm looking at adding these to my 2015 Sierra HD Denali, I think I'll also make the lock\unlock buttons functional. I think I'll use a low power bluetooth tag that will go on the keychain and then an esp32 module in the truck that will detect if the tag is within proximity based on signal strength. Run the wires from the buttons on the handles to an input on the esp32, little bit of logic and then just tap into the lock\unlock button to trigger the locks with mosfets or relays.

Thanks a lot for posting this! I have a Cadillac XT5 which had a nick on the door handle's aluminum trim piece.
The XT5 has a same make/style of door handle as the ones shown in your video.
From 4:50, I was able to determine that I could remove the trim cover without needing to remove the handle from the door.
I purchased a replacment handle from a salvage XT5 and in 2 minutes, I was able to swap out the aluminum cover.
Now the door handle is as good as new.
Years ago You could buy these style of handles for your truck or cars. Through companies like J.C. Whitney. If I remember right those would work in conjunction with your turn signals. I don’t know if these do or not . I’ve never seen one come to think about it. They sure look great on your truck. Nice job 👍.
Since this video, I actually changed them up a bit. Had switchback LEDs retrofitted so that they white light would come on as a running light and blink amber with the turn signal.

Hey Phil, I noticed that in your AutoSync Vid that you posted on Jan. 30, 2020 you handle LED's were blinking Amber. Did you swap out the LED strip? or do they switch from White to Yellow?
Phil, first of all, I am huge into factory-style mods for my vehicles, so stumbling on your impressive work on the Silverado is really cool to me. I don't know how much you'd know about other Chevrolet models (specifically the 2016+ Malibu, I have a 2018 Hybrid) but if you do, do you know if GM uses the same size handles for most of their newer vehicles? I am looking to do this mod to my Malibu and am just weighing my options. The shapes/sizes of these handles all look very similar so I'm not sure if I need to be looking for ones off a specific vehicle (maybe CTS) or if any illuminated Cadillac handle would be fine. I was originally just going to do a simple swap to the Premier chrome handles, but then I had a hunch about these and realized I was not the only one!
Great video, very detailed. I’m curious if your truck already had puddle lights in the mirrors why did you have to run a new wire from the door jam plug? Could you have just powered these handles from the puddle light wires?
elrobbodiablo1 - Yes you can.. but since the rear doors don’t, I had to deliver that signal to the back doors.

Do the Cadillac handle lights double as turn signals? Or would I have to do some modifications/retrofitting for a turn signal feature?
GM has them setup as puddle lights, so they only come on at night with key fob unlock. You can wire them however want and can tie them to a blinker. I did that with mine. Before I got rid of them and the truck, I had switchback LEDs put in and the white led operate as a running light (always on when park lamp/running lights are on) then blink amber when turn signals were used.
This is super tempting to add on my '14 Sierra - just unsure if the Escalade was made in the same color as my truck...
They didn't. Had to get them painted.
Looking for the handles that are chrome 17 High Country has them. Do they make them and where do I buy and cost please and the Installation would need to be done by a professional?
Anthony Macneil - If you're looking for the chrome and not these illuminated handles, you can find those for about $50 on ebay. Installation of the handles themselves are not too bad and there are several videos out there specially for installation so I did not include those steps.

Anthony Macneil I have not seen GM - Chrome - Illuminated ones specifically for our trucks. I've also looked through the 1600 page electrical Upfitter manuals and haven't seen any references to illuminated handles.
These all did come painted as a "Platinum" color and look like chrome, with the base color match to the Escalade.

So I love vehicles that have the automatic door handle option. Like the 2019-2020 models, is they a way to install that on the 2014-2018 models?

Can I use the ones for the back doors on the front doors I have a single cab 2016 Silverado LT 5.3 V8 and all I can find on eBay are back door ones after seeing this video u change the plugs to two pins or do I need to look for the front doors specific thank you the video it’s great information
So what happens if for some reason your battery dies and you can’t use your FOB to open the door? You just eliminated the manual key hole?
However just a minor point, the rear door connectors have only 2 columns of wires so a corner pin would be 2 not 3
Power and ground are positions 1 and 2. Position 3 is the next corner position.

I don't think they do. My personal truck is a 2016 and know they will fit 2014 - 2018. Sorry bud.
Was trying to figure out what my next upgrade will be... Since I installed towing mirrors and got 2 new door harness from you, do you happen to make a harness for this upgrade?
I have a 2018 Silverado 1500 w/t with non power folding mirrors or even puddle lights , can these still be installed in my truck?
If Anyone is curious, the oem connector the gentleman here refers to is a JST SRV connector. Through much dismay and a ton of digging, I found the connectors, if you already have passive door locks on your vehicle you should be able to just add your 12V trigger wire and pin into female end of JST SRV connector and tie into your power source (pin 3) as he states in the video.

Phil, Looks great and job well done sir. As much as I like these illuminated handles, Installation is not quite as plug & play as the DL8 to DL3 swap outs. But as always I enjoyed your video, You have a one off Silverado there sir, Nice indeed.
Timothy Banes - Thanks! While this may not look Plug and Play, the wiring was not too bad. I like doing things the way I think GM would have done it. To install this the way I did, it would require special tools, like the terminal removal tool, terminals, and connectors. I also used an actual GM Crimp tool as well. There are easier methods to accomplish this using splices/taps. The goal here was to show everyone how I did it and how I think GM did it on the Escalade.

Thanks! To answer your question, it is not possible to integrate push to start ignition. There are security protocols, modules, programming, etc...
Is it possible to get the passive entry buttons to work without the push to start?
nope.
My wiring coming to the door has the two wires going to it just like yours in slot 3 however there is no power running to it at any point. Do you happen to have any additional advice that could help. Thanks

I bought them from eBay. There is a seller that sells them in a lot of 4. But they are all Green Envy in color That's how mine came and got them painted. The bases are green, the top cover piece is a "platinum" color...not quite chrome, put painted. So I was able to get the entire handle painted/color match to black GBA.

These brown plugs are for the back and 3-pin. The fronts are a white connector and 5-pin. Since I only needed only the 3-pin, I got those and their mates. The 5-pin white connector were on backorder. So i just repinned them all to the brown 3-pin.

Bought them from eBay last year sometime. Then sent them off to a company to get switchback LEDs installed. Cost was probably $600-ish all in.

Nope. There are a lot of modules involved though.
Phil Gamboa is it more than the passive keyless module with the antennas? If you believe there is a way I would really like to try and do it. After having these features on my last vehicle for over 6 years it was hard for me to believe GM didn’t and still hasn’t done this on our trucks

Phil, can you please tell me if the front handle is the same as the rear handle or perhaps you have a part number for the front handles so i can order them.
i see sets on ebay and they say rear but i don't see sets saying front is why i ask. thanks in advance
The physical handles are the same. In the OEM application of installing these on Escallades, you'll want specific fronts/rears for the proper wiring. Fronts have a 5-pin wiring system where rears have a 3-pin. If installing in our trucks, you'll be fine with either. One thing to note: With these handles, the smaller part of the handles will all have steel base inserts. On our trucks, the rear door handles have a plastic insert. You'll need to swap those over. But otherwise, you'll be fine.
i have ordered the front handles but now need the connectors. i did find the part number on your video but can't locate them online without buying 100+. can you recommend a seller for.... hmmm wait, i think the male ends? or do i need both?

Phil, so you happen to know which circuit on the door harness is utilized for the turn signal? i'm thinking about having the lighted door handles on in run mode and flashing on turn mode. this should be possible with built in mirror signal if they exist i just don't know which circuit, can you help me out?
In the door jamb, Pin #41 is the turn signal circuit. You won't be able to achieve that functionality since the light on the handle is a single light source. I switched mine up to LED Switchbacks that are on all the time (white) when my headlights are on, and flash amber when turn signal is applied. I ran the running lamp circuit (Pin # 11 on the door jamb) to it.
@@philgamboa2906 Are those pin numbers the same for the 2500? got an 18 and doing the switchback handles. If I can tap off the door harness in the front in the cab, and run the wire to the back it would make it much easier. Do you have wire colors also, or how I would read the plug to get the correct pins? Appreciate any help. Happy holidays.
