- There is about 4 mins to save in the early game and i messed up a few things during the run but overall its not bad. There is also a few mins to save in the late game with Dan not dying, hitting Tiamat with Bane, and killing chaos before cur4.
Man this is crazy. The times things could've gone terribly wrong, but didn't. Fascinating run, haha. I enjoyed it.

I'm surprised you used LIT2 on WORMs instead of FIR2 on PHANTOM, who's much more dangerous IMO. Also, Dan should run against EYE and ZomBULL fights instead of fighting, but hey, that's only a few seconds. That CUR4 at the end, wow, what a stressful moment!!
The EYE fight is unrunnable, as are some ZOMBULL formations
Don't mind me, just looking through old allagan records of previous warriors of light. Their methods of travel, combat tactics, world geography are all vastly different to ours in the present. The calamities must've had a far more unspeakable affect on Etheirys than we could've realized!

Ice cave is always very stressful and almost every fight can be the end of the run.
This over 3 years old now, but why did you kill your thief early on? Is there any strategy to it ? (most likely yes)

The job of the thief is too flee from the first 3 encounters then die. With him dead I can split my experience three ways so my party levels up faster. The game only has 3 ribbons so your fourth will only be dead weight late game.
This MUST be actual D&D.

Yeah that was a sad time and I panicked a bit but I still pulled it off in the end. I plan to make a faster run one day but it isn't that easy.
Could you explain why you take a few steps sometimes before entering a dungeon, stairs, or boat docking? Amazing run!!!
I do that to delay the next encounter. If I take two extra steps on the boat I would have gotten into a fight in two steps on land. So I take the extra steps to push that battle back like 20+ steps.

@@notsure1350 you could call it step manipulation, but that has nothing to do with the battle RNG. I could spend all day taking steps in and out of the boat and it wouldn't change anything. It would be impossible to play the game at a high level and not know what fight you're getting into next because the battles are in a set order.
@@notsure1350 Not really since what battles you get into is not anything random. There's a table for encounters in every zone that are the same every time.
This WR is the biggest achievment in human history and NEVER will be beaten!

Can you explain why you choose this team? The Thief is pretty bad, why a thief?
I only use the thief for two parts of the run. The first reason I pick a thief over a dead black mage is so that when he survives the first few fights he can run away from the first few battles while still dealing damage. The second is just for a decoy in ordeals that can help me run away fast. If you watch the video you can see that he is barely used but has a purpose.

Yeah lava isn't great, it kills me lol... But on the bright side not much happens during the lava sections so it's not a huge deal.

You can run from the Naga + Water fight, you can NOT run from water that is alone.

Does this utilize a step route? Always wanted to run this game but the step routes and RNG manipulation stuff just confuses me.
The whole game is done on step route. It's only a bit hard to start out but when you get used to it the route is actually amazing. www.speedrun.com/final_fantasy_nes/guide/8wxx3 is a great place to start if you are actually interested.

19:27 It does make sense to spend money to earn money, though; that's basically the definition of investment, and we use that all over the world. In this case, if people see that your stream has 300 viewers, the assumption is that your channel is worth watching for 300 other people, which will increase their chances of checking your channel out. Further, with more viewers, you have a higher chance of being highlighted on the Twitch home page, for example. Both of these things increase the potential for you to start getting donations and stuff from legitimate viewers.
The problem is that paid viewers give the false impression that you legitimately earned those followers in the first place. It's dishonest and gives an unstable foundation to your career, whether that's in streaming or any other business where there's the opportunity to take shady shortcuts.

Could this be done faster with 4 warriors?, i always use 4 warriors and its super fast and super easy
I have a run with 4 warriors and it took me nearly an hour longer with more laxed rules.
@@shanezell But don't you shave time with not have to buy all the magic? it still took longer?
@@LegoGBlokthe fast spell makes you swing twice as many times, so you deal about double the damage on your fighter with a better weapon. That can't be replaced so easily. Chaos has 100 absorb so only two of the 4 knights will even be doing any damage unless you over level with takes time. I have 3 world record times in this version of the game, I know the game pretty well.

Add a red wizard for the last slot for closest thing to that party, but with magic. You can steamroll the game easier and still be primarily melee if you want. You also get the time saving exit and warp spells too.

so why does Cid stay dead so long
Cid stays dead for a few reasons, first and the biggest one is he takes exp from the other members. So we keep him dead so the others get more exp, but also you only get 3 ribbons so your fourth person is likely to die without those resistances. Lastly keeping him alive also takes more healing, and well I guess it also takes longer to tell him to flee which is the main thing we do in the run.

I maybe got him once but this was 90s and even knowing of the peninsula of power was a big deal

What is RNG manipulation?
FF1’s random number generator isn’t actually random, so with proper timing battles and encounters can be scripted.
