it was still possible to buy a 14-second car from Buick. The Stage 1 option was still available on the Gran Sport, now an option package on the Century (which replaced the Skylark for 1973). It still put out 270 net horsepower like in 1972, but was overall a much better car to the aforementioned handling and comfort. Additionally, a Sun Coupe option gave buyers the option of a manual or electrically-operated sunroof. Combine all three options (GS, Stage 1, Sun Coupe) and you have one of the most desirable Colonnades built. In 1973, 728 Gran Sport Stage 1s were built, with only 92 having the 4-speed. Fourty-five Gran Sport Stage 1 Sun Coupes were built, but only nine came with the 4-speed.

I know a friend had black one Gran Sport Stage 1 455 4spd that he sold when he lived in Missouri. Then
found another Stage 1 455 in silver and still owns it. Luckiest guy I know.

I've seen this one and the yellow one at Lebanon Valley, NY. Really love the color--looks like butterscotch. : )

My dad bought one new in 1973 in brown metallic with white pinstripes and Gran Sport letters. Had the vinyl half roof. Just the 350 v8 but such a great car. Unfortunately we hit hard times and it sat for too long and rusted out. It broke my heart to see it go because it was the one thing my dad and I connected with most. I really want to get it back and strip it down to the last bolt and restore it to new. I never appreciated it when I had it to drive. Stupidity of youth I guess. It ended up in the junkyard. Still got my dad's 1970 Honda cb 450. Almost done with restoring it. Just want the Buick back.

The worst part about those cars was the seat belt buzzer. My grandma bought one new, then my parents had it in the 80's.

Power windows, power locks and power seat too. WOW. I had a 1973 Regal with a 350 automatic in Harvest Gold paint. That car was pretty quick, it only got 7-8 miles per gallon. I can't imagine that car gets 10 mpg. Air conditioning with a manual, is even more rare.

Jrptreeman, good call there! I have a 74 GS 455 and 8 is best highway mpg I can get! I have a bigger cam and headers...oh ya alum intake .....it is a rocket couch!

Jrptreeman, agreed - seems like all the GM 350 pigs me and buddies piloted all got about 8 mpg the way we drove...hehe. 2bb, 4bbl, 350, 455, 403...all seemed to get about the same. Later I said why not get the 455? So as fate has it I own a 1974 Century GS455 today with built up 455...she honkytonks!
