I’m just sad nowadays that People died after the war and most of the Historical and Grand Buildings in the Walled City of Manila hasn’t been restored yet. It has rich in history of Colonial and Pre History. but I’m happy a bit if People survived after 3 Years Later after the war and some buildings too. And now we have hope of restoring historical buildings in our walled city and some parts of manila. Overall this Video has a nice colorized 1900s Clips.
That’s brilliant. Is it original color film or was the color added. Color film would have been very expensive then. Very high quality transfer to video, no strobing.
Among the 7 Spanish colonial era Roman Catholic historical churches of Intramuros, only San Agustin Church was largely spared from the ravages of WW2 and largely remained intact to the present day ,even the Manila Cathedral was nearly in complete ruins by the end of the war (The Manila Cathedral was only reconstructed during the 1950s) while the totally destroyed Santo Domingo Church was reconstructed to another place (in its present day location in Barangay Santo Domingo in Quezon City) the rest of the other destroyed / ruined churches were never reconstructed or rebulit.
Sadly yung original interior ng Manila cathedral hindi na naibalik at yung santo domingo churh hindi na rin nila na restore pati na rin yung iba pang simbahan sa intramuros
well actually I was also doubting that, I just followed the description of the original video that this part was manila, I'll just placed a disclaimer once I get more info, thanks!
At 6:10, THAT is not a 1948 design building. Also, so many of these clipped have been cropped so much that a lot of information on location is lost. Unfortunate.
1942 before the war i guess? cause i havent seen any japannese soldier in the street of manila yet so im guessing the 1942 footage is before the invasion of manila?

it was so beautiful after america rebuilt it. wish it was like that now.
Still saddened for the destruction of Manila. And first time to see a video of Recolletos Church in Intramuros. Thank you Sir for sharing

Also, the architecture style of the buildings on the background looks more modern than 1940s more like 1960s period.

1942 was still during the war. It's fortunate that there is no damage to the structures in the photos.
There are already damages in some parts of Manila, I just chose the parts of the video that try to show what Manila looked like before the war
