- My second video from Santos Dumont.
Another runway, another airline, but still the best view during approach and landing at SDU. Gol Airlines B737-800 landing at Santos Dumont Airport (SDU, SBRJ), Rio de Janeiro. Domestic flight G3 1034 from Sao Paulo-Congonhas Airport (CGH, SBSP). Flight date:16.8.2019
Every subscription is appreciated:)
That's a very stressful approach for the pilots!

Chris Zhang true
How
the approach on the other side of the runway is more beautiful and "stressful" for the pilots
but in fact, it's nothing big, there are no accidents with deaths at this airport since the 60's, the few that had it also have very little relationship with the approach of the runway too
@@glipk yes it is cause there's a mountain
Que hermosa aproximación a Brasil.los amo.
Excellent video! Thanks for not adding music. So many other aviation video are ruined with "music"!
Gorgeous beyond belief! 😍🛬
I flew from Porto Alegre to Rio with this airline but unfortunately didn't get this approach, very nice!
Thank you. Better luck next time:)
5:24 The 737 landed hard as a rock
Short runway, and water at the end, what do you expect
The pilot, the wind, the weight, the landing depends of various factors to be smooth (butter) or hard (catrapo) or, the worst controlled crash.
Nearly fooled me
This video you can see 3 Cities: Maricá, Niterói (until the bridge) and Rio. Enjoy!
sim, Maricá 💕💕💕💕
That sweet feeling of looking out of your airplane window and seeing your holiday destination
Definitely the most beautiful approach in the world, would love to repeat it again myself (the weather at my 1st visit did not allow to film it properly). Great video, perfect daytime and weather for filming.
Thank you very much:) That approach on my first visit was even better:)
For those saying that was a hard landing: Santos Dumont have only 1320 meters of length, the clearway is made of water (rs). No room for errors!
@Matthew Cross ? The length is information that is available anywhere and you can see at the end where the runway cuts off that its just water. Swiss001 inst the only person to know this information
@Matthew Cross i lived 3 years in the Escola Naval, the island at right of the runway. The length is correct, I used this airport dozens of times.
@Matthew Cross No, from the Brazilian's Airspace Control website, www.aisweb.aer.mil.br/?i=cartas, just type "SBRJ" on the ICAO box and get the ADC.
Gringada quer duvidar da gente porra kkkkkkk
In fact, only captains are allowed to land on this runway.
Great video, I'm 72 now, in my younger days I flew between SDU and CGH Ponte Aerea many times, in those days it was by Lockheed Electra II, I miss those days very much, it was painful when VARIG first introduced the 737 on that route! All the "romance" of the turbo prop died that day, very sad day indeed for many of us!
What a beautiful view of a stunning city!
Oh how I Love Rio!!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Marvelous view, Thanks for sharing!
You´re very welcome:)
yo hice ese aterrizaje en Rio en ese aeropuerto y fue hermoso! Viajar en avión es siempre una fiesta!
I love this airport!
me too:)
Damn, imagine if the video was just 10 seconds longer
Alt f4 for free v bucks!! Omg it works!!
Why
Jess Martinez bruh. That just makes u close the tab on windows. Remember not all people are on pc. Let stand not all people are so broke that they need windows. I’m here on my IMac 2020.

Santos dumont is the Wonderful Airport.
No it is dangerous airport
Dangerous and wonderful:)
its a two edged sword
There are no accidents with deaths at this airport since the 60's. it's a very safe airport.
@@sandwich6284 Please don't talk nonsense son! There were never any major accidents at Santos Dumont, the approach to this airport is the most beautiful in the world and it is always a pleasure to get there. Get to know Rio de Janeiro one day, it's worth it!
And you haven’t got the most beautiful window side and runaway operating direction.
I actually did, check my older video from Santos Dumont:) th-cam.com/video/D567CdywIlU/w-d-xo.html
Ia dizer isso Victor, boa.
Absolutely stunning😍
Thank you very much:)
Agreed
Corona time: in Europe, now we can watch this as the Moon landing - only on screens. We spoke about how small our world became but now.....
The governments made our world small and that will not change for a long time!!
Dum Spiro Spero Living for this landing one day alive
Been many years since I experienced this landing but have never forgot it, thanks for the memory. I also really enjoy landing and taking off from Los Angeles CA, with the similar combination of mountains, water and beautiful city spread out across a basin. Great video!
It was a gorgeous approach indeed
great footage, stunning view and perfect light! Good job!
Thank you very much:)

SWISS001 ?
Yeah
imagine watching swiss001 🤮
Gol
Arbus a 321-200
Swiss001 didn't know about the SFP (short field performance) breaking systems that b737's and a320 must have to operate in Santos Dumont Airport. There are other regulations like related to the landing weight of the plane, and so on...
Santos Dumont is more of a secondary domestic Airport, being the Tom Jobim Airport the one for bigger planes and primary domestic flights.
Brazil is quite well ranked on ICAO safety ranking, so no worries, this airport doesn't need to be closed like swiss001 wrongly said on his video ;)
done this 3 times love Rio!!
Amazing Rio! Surely one of the most beautiful cities in the world, captured in such grand style through your camera lens. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your channel and wish you many more happy landings!
Thank you very much. I appreciate your comment:)
Good thing people don't clap during landing in Brazil. BUT this stunning approach surely deserves applause
What people use to clap for landing, except Portugueses and Angolans???
@@DaviSilva-im5ho in lots of places in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Do some research and you'll find out where to avoid flying😂
@@CB0408 Hahaha, the first time I fled to Angola it was quite funny to see people clapping as the plane landed. We don't use do it. Lol.
Here in Brazil people actually clap during landing, this guy was just lucky while filming
@@marcelo497 I would clap for that view
Stunning views!!! Rio is amazing we miss Brazil 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰.
The route Sao Paulo/Rio is one the busiest in the world.
Most beautiful city on earth.
You survived to a 737 MAX!!! That’s outstanding!!
Not a MAX, it's a 737NG with Scimitar Winglets
Ok boomer
@@QuangNguyen-vy6vx actually its you because you have no idea 😂😂
@@QuangNguyen-vy6vx I was playing an online game dumbass, it is a 737 NG.
@@QuangNguyen-vy6vx look at the winglet, it's very different to MAX.
Fun fact: everything you saw before 6:10 was NOT rio.
Nikiti!
Well not everything. You can still see Rio in the distance even through they are flying over Niteroi
Yes, is the state of Rio de Janeiro
Probably not, after all not many favelas in those parts for it to be Rio

The best way to land in Rio. Man, I've got to get there. I didn't know Christ Redeemer was open at night. That's good to know.
This approach reminds me of Kai Tak
I really want to fly in Gol's 737-Max...
Rio de Janeiro is beautiful , day or night .....
Muito obrigado pelo vídeo. Fico feliz de prestigiar nosso país espero que tenha gostado do Brasil e seja bem vindo, estaremos sempre de portas abertas, grande abraço
This is beyond stunning!
Ewww i think this 737 max does not have mcas😜😜😜
This os not a 737 max, its 737 800 with split winglets
İ know only joking:)
Such an unusual approach, and great lighting
Forever Brazil
Stunning camera action ! And that wing tip is state of the art.
Thanks:)
Best of all it looks like the sun is setting.. I love sunset approaches :D
it was just before sunset:)
Am I the only one who got anxious by watching how close to the water they were flying?
yeah just you
The passengers probably did too.
It is much more fun landing the other way with a dipping u-turn in front of the Sugar Loaf.
Fabulous video and truly the best approach in the world! Thank you!! Do we see the Christ Statue too after landing?
It was a hard landing
Best approach, but not the best landing🙁
GOOD. The Brazil is a big country. My country.
Bom. O Brasil é um grande país. Meu país.
Nope nope Cape Town, South Africa wins best approach day or night, hands down! Spectacular!!
Hope this guy knows he was in a max 10
that's a regular 737

The max 10 isn’t even out
A A Wasn’t it revealed randomly already?
Aqui está o comentário BR q vc queria ver
E isso mesmo..
Was about to say rough landing, then I saw the thousand foot markers on the opposite side of the runway. Took me seeing the sugarloaf mountain while taxiing to realize which airport this was. Nice landing, and beautiful view.
21 of sep my birthday the same day and month that is uploaded this video
Looking from this angle it almost fools people that the city is good haha... The one city you know you're gonna get AT LEAST mugged. I live in brazil and will never step in that place.
As an American citizen and resident of California, I can agree with everyone that this airport approach over the bay is much better than the approach at San Francisco Airport
Santos Dumont is like landing on the most scenic aircraft carrier in the world.
Change best to dangerous pls ita not the best ive seen many much uch better
This is a really good view from behind the wing (my kind of view from behind the flaps extending out) at the final landing..Nice video bro👍
Best approach but bad landing Santos Dumos is the most dangerous airport ever
Miracle that the pilots could do that. That airport should not be managing modern commercial airliners
hola amiga 🙏
iki asli opo goroh seh cak.
Amazing video. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Im braziliam my house is near this airport and is near rio galeao airport
My dream job is to become a pilot 👩✈️❤️
great video, and great filming, congrats !
Thank you very much:)
Who else thought it was a flight simulator point of view ??😂
Bonito ne
The runway is only 2000 meters, the normal runway is 10000 for an international airport
Normally 10km long?
The "normal" runway is between 1.8 to 2.5 km long. 10km runways are extremely rare.
"Normal is longer, maybe 2.1 to 3.8km for an international runway. How many international airports have max 2.5km (8200ft) length runways, hardly any.
Santos Dumont is not a International Airport.
@@iain8837 it is actually 1.323 meters long, even shorter.
Lovely city! Love to visit once.
Is this Rio de janeiro?
65 Gretas have seen this Video until today :-)
rio de janeiro and the city where i live. But in the beginning it's not even Rio de Janeiro lol
Pilots have a training time for this approach
this is not real 737 max was still grounded
4:09 this bridge im pass whit my car im all hours
Nice approached, beautiful incredible scene
5:23 RIP landing gear
The runway is short and if you overrun you end up in the water, so he has to land quickly.
The runway is short, making a perfect landing there is not an option, it is so risky that only captains are allowed to do it.
Omg are you okay? That wing is the 737 Max 8!! Are you alive?? *Afraid breathing*
GPWM I’m also kidding lmao 🥴🤪😂
GPWM nah theres also a max 7 and max 9 that still fly
There is still no MAX commercially flying as of today:)
737-800, not MAX:)
TheMquads phew *Sigh* 😅
At 3.13 is that houses on the hills or what is it ? Please
Nice View! I like your video
Thank you:)
i see something at 3:44 i dont know if is a drone or bird
ZAC Adventures where?
I think it is a bird, with moving wings.
its a bird
Bird
Ummmm....Is the title ironic??
As Brazilian I went to Rio couple times but from my region all flights lands at Galeão (Tom Jobim). Bigger planes cannot land at Santos Dummont.
I always try to book SDU when coming to Rio:)
🇧🇷👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Rio the Best city of the world
Approach from São Paulo??? I don’t think so. This is a route from the north. Could be from Brasília, Belo Horizonte...
This is route from the south.
No matter the route, the plane LANDS!
The plane lands based on the wind, not the route.
Só faltaram os assaltantes no bondinho 😝
It's very score
San Diego is way better
Who else is brazillian?
The pilot: why do u do dis 2 me?
Aq e Brasil pohaaaa
Wonderful Approach
That looks like a 737-800MAX ngl
It's not a max
Ik but those winglits
Yeah kinda does
@@thatrandomguy8124 it's a 737NG with Scimitar Winglets
OMG its the MAX
Beautiful approach and marvellous views of the city (also at the end of the video), but looks like very little margin for errors there. Hats off to the pilots.
Definitely challenging approach for pilots:)
Yes. Short runway. 1300 meters. The first officer can not landing or takeoff there. In an emergency he need take airplane to Tom Jobim International airport because of that rule.
This landing would perfect with Samba Do Avião on the back. Awesomeness!!!
is this the max8
