I have two silver maxes and I've enjoyed using them both. They've been the BC I used to learn with. I've used them so much both thumb bars cracked. I was able to replace them both relatively cheaply. The one thing that I don't like about them is that they are slow reels at 6.4:1. I didn't know why that mattered at the time I bought them. I was able to buy one for $30 off ebay and $40 off amazon.

Super good reel is the Abu Garcia Revo X. I bought the combo as my first caster and I love it. Smooth, quiet and handles braid very well. Hard to beat reel for $100. $130ish for the combo. Rarely ever get backlash and 99% of the time it’s user error, you definitely need to try it out if you haven’t and include it in a video at one point, would like to see your input on it.
love the video... really liked that you dived right into the content instead of wasting half the video on non-sense... most other youtube anglers forget that if we are sitting all day watch video's then we are losing time out casting those lines.

Went to Dick's to get a Ugly Stick medium heavy baitcaster rod. $25.00 over anyone else. Their lure selection was the shits. Very little and high dollar! The highered helped sucked. Never going back again. Ordered on line from Wal-Mart. Piece of cake and prices were awsome! Good buy Dick's. Shawn
Chad Kieffer the Lew’s LFS and the Shimano SLX have to be the two best $100 baitcasters you can get! SLX if you throw lighter baits, LFS is you don’t! Great options and super video
I swear by the jackhammers as well I love them. I've done my own comparison and the Jackhammer weigh excels the Chatterbait in my opinion. I like using it kind of like a jig with a rage tail trailer. Roll tide
The Shimano SLX is by far the best reel for $99 hands down. I own Shimano, 13 Fishing, Lews, and Abu Garcia reels. I recently bought an SLX to give it a try and boy oh boy was it amazing. It does only have four bearings but Shimano uses high grade quality ball bearings so smoothness is butter. I highly suggest anyone looking for a budget quality reel please give this a shot.
I buy the $5 and under Chatter Baits and some Zoom plastic crawfish, and twister tails to go on them. I use Trilene Big Game and use some leaders made from about high-end fluorocarbon leaders about 24 inches.

Awesome video man...helped me in my search for a baitcaster as a beginner with baitcasters this gave me very good idea what to get....Lews will be what I get pretty sure the $60 one just gotta make sure im getting the right gear ratio I wanna pretty much use one reel and rod for different baits I know some use a different reel ratio for spinner, and different for soft plastics etc just trying figure out one with a gear ratio for anything I want to change to....awesome video man!!
That's always been why I avoided baitcasters but I'd really like to get into them and try it. I'd like to learn the ratios for different lures and dial that in.
The retrieve ratio isn't as bad as it gets made into. If you are the impatient type and can't reel slow, I'd say go with the 5.4 or 6.3. If you want to be able to pick up any slack quicker just go with the 7.5. If you can catch the sales you can pick up the LFS for around the same price.
I like anything Lews , I found a guy that got a Mach 2 combo for a gift and he used it once and didn’t like a baitcaster so I was able to talk him into selling it to me for $50!
I have 4 reels around the $100 range. The SLX, Daiwa Tatula CT, 13 fishing Inception and the Abu Garcia REVO X. I haven't got to fish the SLX yet but just holding it feels very nice. The Abu Garcia has been my favorite to use. The Daiwa feels like the best quality for sure though.
Just bought a bass pro qualifier 2 for my first baitcast, got it for 85 down from 99 and I really like it. I was able to dial it in fairly quickly and have only had backlash from user error. I own a couple pfleuger spinning reels and love them as well, would def love to try them in baitcaster
I stopped buying from stores awhile back when u can get Lews half price on ebay. But i own several reels around the $100 & best IMO right now is the Bass Pro Carbonlite 2.0 paired on my Duckett Triad. That being said I just ordered my first Kastking so I'm eager to try their products

I have 3 American Hero combo setups and absolutely love them. Let my buddy and his brother try them out and they loved them so much they bought themself a combo set. I love Lews and like you would recommend.
My silver max has been great the past year I have had it, I learned how to use a bait caster on it and if it is dialed up correctly it is great but I am interested in upgrading to something better like a Shimano SLX.
A pro fisher says the 2 lower Abu Garcia was garbage, broke down within 2 months of use… worm drive stopped working, the casting plate stopped returning to up position and into gear… he owned 3 of each and they all had the same issue.
I got the slx as an anniversary gift and it's the only reel I've used so far this season. After almost 2 months of use I've had only 3 or 4 backslashes, 1 being because I got a tree behind me on a cast. Definitely doesn't feel like a 4 beating reel
I like my Silvermax too. Caught my pb on it last spring. Halfway through my 2nd year on it. I don't really use the silly little flippin switch for anything though.
I use the switch just to stop my line when I’m messing with the lure in my hand. Not really thinking it does anything but gimmick. Love the feel though.
The Abu Garcia REVO X is the best reel I’ve ever used around that $100 mark. I can find them at my local tackle shop for around $80. It feels like a $130+ reel. I’ve also just bought a 13 fishing Origin FB and it’s a good one too. But that REVO X is by far my favorite.
Hey another great video as always man! I have a couple of silvermax reels I like them for what they are, there definitely not a promax or revo but work well. If I was gonna spend $100 on a reel I'd drop it on the Abu Garcia Revo X as i will be very soon to add with my SX and STX
My opinion, for what it's worth ...... for bait casting reels under $100 Kastking: Spartacus 6.3:1, Royal Legend 7.2:1, and Speed Demon 9.3:1. I've used these reels for 3 years now and have never had a problem with them. Spartacus is my favorite. BTW No reel is made in USA. China, Korea, Japan, and Sweden.

Been using my Carbon Fire for about a year now and never had an issue from it at all. Love the 7.5:1 ratio. Also caught a 5lb 6oz on a silver max this year and too many to count in the 3-4 range. It's not the greatest reel, and if you shake it you can feel the handle shaking with it🤣 but it does perform pretty well when you hook into a nice one. But that Carbon Fire is a beast though man

For $100 or below, I absolutely am in love with the 13 Fishing Origin C. But still love fishing the Lew’s Laser MG, slp, and the LFS. My new sleeper is the Bass Pro Shops Carbonlite 2.0 8.3:1 which is made by Lew’s for BPS. Great stuff as always Tj🙌
SLX hands down the best reel under 100 bucks, but I also highly recommend the Bass Pro Shops Jonny Morris series reels that can go for 99.99 as well when they’re on sale
I have a silver max and love it. I’ve beat the shit out of it over the past few years. I fight with it for the first 5 or 6 casts every time I pick it up for the day, but after that it’s golden. I have that and my Lew’s speed spool and tournament MB and you can’t go wrong with them. The tournament MB got me wanting to spend a little more than what I normally would on a reel next time just to see what else I’ve been missing out on.
My favorite is the Shimano SLX hands down the best. I’m not really a fan of 13 stuff had some pretty bad experiences with them but that’s just my opinion. Nice video
crawford fite that’s a good reel, especially when you can get a combo for under 70 bucks. My son has the black max and it feels good. Personally I use the Kastking Royale Legend and fell in love with it immediately on a Perigee II Carbon rod.

I have a carbon fire spooled with 50lb braid for froggin', and it dials in easy. Smooth for the price too, and doesn't backlash (unless its user error on my part 😅). I've only run braid on it though.
Pflueger honestly is like the Honda Of the fishing world, they make a ton of Accords and Civics for anglers and they last forever ..... it’s honestly crazy we don’t buy them more.... I have a spinning thats it. Oh you can get Jackhammers for 15.99 on tacklewarehouse guys
Just got my first basic aster, the Abu pro max, it was on sale at Walmart for nine dollars. That's right, 9 dollars, and I love it, smooth and very few backlashes but I'm still learning. I wish I got more at that price.

Lol just saw this one...go to fishermanfactorydiscount.com or something like that and look, they sell the Pure Fishing brands cheap sometimes and I am sure some of the higher end Plueger's are marked down right now, I'll link it if I have it still. The reconditioned ones are all marked but sometimes it's some nice reels cheap new.
@@FishingWithYakPak I guess it's because the first quality reel I bought was a lews reel. I have just stuck with them. Tried other reels and just didn't like them except oddly Picifun. They make great reels. Both nothing else is a lews.
@@FishingWithYakPak I had a reel that come off a speed stick and it just seemed like it didn't cast as good. I thought it might have been because the eyes on the speed stick were so different than a normal rod. Just thought they may have been designed just for that rod.
I used to hate abu garcia and love lews, but man has my opinion changed. I have the revo s and the revo x and they are super smooth, durable, comfortable, and cast well. Way better than my shimano casitas
Eh, yeah accuracy is definitely one of the main points to consider. But honestly you can still catch whatever while using a spinning set up. I’ve got an awesome spinning setup that can literally catch me anything (if not more) than my baitcaster combos. Go check out the video I just posted today and watching me use nothing but my spinning combo. Caught peacock bass and a clown knife fish. 👌🏼😁

The lews carbon, the one i got i like but have not used it engouh yet to make my mind up. My favorite lews is the speed spool, got both of mine $19 each combo at walmart and caught all my big bass on them. I do love the abu gracia revo, its pretty badass reel.

My first lowprofile baitcaster was a Shakespeare lol it was well junk but it cost 20 or so lol than I went with a Pflueger patriarch(200$) I want to try there supreme model next it is around 100$ my friend like his
Guess what, I just got a baitcaster rod AND reel pairing for under $60! So far so good; video coming soon as I catch a few fish on it. BTW...my favorite lightweight spinning reel is a Pflueger President.

The lew lfs is an amazing reel for 99 dollars. Have 3 of them. A 5.6.1, 6.6.1, and the 7.5.1. All have been perfect

crawford fite that’s a good reel, especially when you can get a combo for under 70 bucks. My son has the black max and it feels good. Personally I use the Kastking Royale Legend and fell in love with it immediately on a Perigee II Carbon rod.

You'll love the Jackhammer. You can waste your money on the other ones? Or get what works. That Jackhammer is killer

For sure. Great reels. I currently have five. All on Falcon rods. Picked them up for about $70 a piece on sale. Easy to dial in, smooth casting, and solid drag. Now, in the $100-$120 range, the Daiwa Tatula CT is insanely good!!!
Can you do a pool test of the regular chatterbait and the Jackhammer? Told that the Jackhammer cuts to the side when you kill it.

I have a carbon fire spooled with 50lb braid for froggin', and it dials in easy. Smooth for the price too, and doesn't backlash (unless its user error on my part 😅). I've only run braid on it though.
RJ8891 V that could have been the reason, I had 17lb Flourocarbon on the one I was using and I’m starting to think that was a little too much lol

Pflueger honestly is like the Honda Of the fishing world, they make a ton of Accords and Civics for anglers and they last forever ..... it’s honestly crazy we don’t buy them more.... I have a spinning thats it. Oh you can get Jackhammers for 15.99 on tacklewarehouse guys

Just got my first basic aster, the Abu pro max, it was on sale at Walmart for nine dollars. That's right, 9 dollars, and I love it, smooth and very few backlashes but I'm still learning. I wish I got more at that price.

mach 1 may be bad, but i would definitely consider trying the mach 2 if you ever can it is great!

Definitely can’t beat the lews American hero stuff! I love mine. I have the combos in open and baitcast and it’s just as nice as my Mach 2 setup

Lol just saw this one...go to fishermanfactorydiscount.com or something like that and look, they sell the Pure Fishing brands cheap sometimes and I am sure some of the higher end Plueger's are marked down right now, I'll link it if I have it still. The reconditioned ones are all marked but sometimes it's some nice reels cheap new.

I just picked up to Revo X’s this weekend. Great for under $100!!!
The revo x was my first proper baitcaster and the handle started screwing up after a couple of months. Was very disappointed

@@FishingWithYakPak I guess it's because the first quality reel I bought was a lews reel. I have just stuck with them. Tried other reels and just didn't like them except oddly Picifun. They make great reels. Both nothing else is a lews.
Do the Lew's reels have to be put on a lews speed stick rod? I know the speed sticks rods are designed different
No, unless you just want to match them. I have mine on different kinds of rods
@@FishingWithYakPak I had a reel that come off a speed stick and it just seemed like it didn't cast as good. I thought it might have been because the eyes on the speed stick were so different than a normal rod. Just thought they may have been designed just for that rod.
I used to hate abu garcia and love lews, but man has my opinion changed. I have the revo s and the revo x and they are super smooth, durable, comfortable, and cast well. Way better than my shimano casitas

I have not used the Mach 1 and although Mach 2 is more than a hundred dollars it Is great reel. I have the SLX and so far it has preformed well.
I have the American hero but mine isn’t very good it doesn’t reel in very smooth and when I cast it makes noises like it is about to break
newbie for baitcasters here: the only reason to get one is for its casting accuracy? Are there any other advantages compared to a spinner?
Eh, yeah accuracy is definitely one of the main points to consider. But honestly you can still catch whatever while using a spinning set up. I’ve got an awesome spinning setup that can literally catch me anything (if not more) than my baitcaster combos. Go check out the video I just posted today and watching me use nothing but my spinning combo. Caught peacock bass and a clown knife fish. 👌🏼😁
If you don’t NEED a baitcaster then I think you’d be completely fine with a solid spinning set up

The lews carbon, the one i got i like but have not used it engouh yet to make my mind up. My favorite lews is the speed spool, got both of mine $19 each combo at walmart and caught all my big bass on them. I do love the abu gracia revo, its pretty badass reel.

Guess what, I just got a baitcaster rod AND reel pairing for under $60! So far so good; video coming soon as I catch a few fish on it.
BTW...my favorite lightweight spinning reel is a Pflueger President.

Hey yak I would say one of the best budget reels I have ever had it’s called the daiwa rg it was 50$ on sale for me but I caught some toads on it

I use a silver maxx its a decent reel its better for pitching I find but id rather spend more money and get a revo series for the abu reels
