- IS LOW COST CAMPING WORTH IT ? This week we come across something different and did not know how we felt to be honest.
We arrived at camp and we had booked a non powered site for $15 and soon realised for an extra $5 we could get power as well. When we arrived it was that hot that we had no choice to get the power. Soon we realised that the power didn't work so we just had to accept that we were going to be hot for the 2 days. Now we were really excited for paying $20 for power and water but unfortunately we won't be back. We would have pushed on to the Yorke peninsula rather. We did try and make the best of it and we could have just left but we made the best of our stay.
We then moved onto a camp we stayed at 3 years ago and we glad we did. Ardrossan is an awesome little town on the Yorke not everyone talks about. We stayed 2 nights and explored the area.
We also want to thank everyone for there support on the last TH-cam episode. We had over 1000 comments across all social media platforms and it definitely has given us the urge to keep travelling and sharing our amazing travel memories with you.
We hope you enjoyed this episode and if you would like to support us, please subscribe to our channel. It would mean the world to us.

Great episode, thanks Deryck, Sue and Bobby. Great to see you. Yummy pizza. I use the white bread mix to make lekker “vetkoek” with curry, or apricot jam and cheese. Enjoy your week and stay safe out there. Keep on smiling. 😊
Thank you. Ooo that's a great idea. Will definitely give it a go
Apricot jam and cheeeeese 😍😍😍

Thanks so much, appreciate the feedback, and so good to hear you are enjoying the content!
Wow so good to see you back
Thank you
Hi guys great to to see that you're still pedaling the bike
Don't ever let " numpties " ever get ya down Derek, it's not their fault that they are simple minded jealous and mentally confused with their boring lives. 😲
Have been watching you guy's for a few years ,love every minute of what you're up too, always enjoying and funny especially when crack head gives Derek the shits lol
🤗 i live down at aldinga beach, i think it's heaven in summer. Keep it up xxx
OMGoodness , when you mentioned the waterhole at Pt Wakefield we really had a laugh because this is where Peter learnt to swim in the 50’s and 60’s as he grew up in Balaklava 30kms away and it was just constantly a semi mud hole as it has been whenever we have been back . Anyway you were able to enjoy the water this time , well done . There was always a good fish and chip shop nearby . Parham is great for crabs but you were a little early . Thanks for the journey and we look forward to your videos whatever part of the week they come out . This is an old stamping ground of Peter’s but he suggests you always take a bucket as usually plenty of squid , herring (Tommy roughs) and garfish to any of the York’s jetties .
Oh this made me giggle! 😂 what an awesome story! Yes it would be a great place to learn how to swim but perhaps minus the mud! Thanksnfornall the tips, it's always great to hear from locals who have loved in the area!
Love you guys
Thanks again for sharing your lives and this wonderful country with us all
Thanks so much for the awesome feedback!
My brother in law and his ex wife had a permanent van at the Port Wakefield CP and we have swam in that pool Sue, it’s a great little stop over. I too need to learn how to reverse our van, but when I do hubby gives me great instructions on reversing it’s certainly an art. Keep up the great work.
😂 yes I am shocking at reversing the van, absolutely no idea what I am doing!
Naww so good that you guys are back & happy 😊
Thanks so much 😊
Lol we don’t have crocs here🤭😂
Oh no! No power? Well that sux😢
Safe travels this week x❤
Ahaha yes it made me giggle 😂😂😂 bad enough worrying about the 🦈 do t need to add cross to the equation!
I'm glad to see you haven't given up because of the ratbags ! You both look happier today. We all love you . Keep up the good work. ❤
Thank you so much. We are feeling better
Another great vid folks...Thanks heaps, Cheers
Thank you
Great video guys, as usual. 💯. I’m a bit of a sweet tooth, so I enjoy a Southern Comfort with Coke. Must try it with lime juice for a change. And boy, must keep a look out for the Lauke Pizza Base. I’ve never seen it, in our local Supermarket anyway!! Lovely spot, enjoy watching cooking episodes. Would really like to get an update on the Zone Caravan, when you get a chance. We are looking at getting one!!
Nice work guys 👏🏻 looking good walking out on that pier ❤ the positive energy
Safe travels 👨🏻🌾👍
Thanks so much Stewie, hope all is well on the farm!
@@suelandolt6840 all good thanks Sue, calving time. There is always a spot for the 3 of you if needed too
Might have been doing something that would make a good “ camp out “ area now too
Great video so good to see happy Deryk and Sue again
Thank you. Feeling so much better
Roll your pizza base on a board with oil rather than flour. Works a treat and does not stick!!! Another great episode guys!!!
Never tried that but will give it a go!
Hi from Jason. So good that you're loving SA. The tidal scene at the top end of the gulf makes it hard to go swimming but still beautiful country. Especially loved this episode for 2 reasons. It's kind of my holiday backyard and it's so fantastic that you guys are continuing your TH-cam channel 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Jason
thank you. SA is our favourite state and potentialy could be home one day
@@justvanningit awesome!
Thanks guys glad your back and so happy 😊. FYI I don't use a rolling pin anymore just hand work the dough onto pizza tray, it seems to keep the dough more elasticity hope this makes sense. Cheers
Thanks Kerri, yes that sounds the go! I did end up just uses ingredients my hands to push the dough out!
We love watching you guys.
Love how Sue loves to have a swim and you are both looking happy again. Cheers to you both 😊
Great episode I am amazed how far the tides drop! Better luck with the squid next time Deyerk 👌
Thanks so mich Sonua, aha yes will keep trying for the squid!
My favourite channel guys. Thank you!
Thanksnso much Roland, appreciate the lovely feedback!
Sue and Derek, the car and van looking mint! Did you have detailed in Adelaide?
Thanks so much Tony. Not detailed but a good clean ourselves and used Salty Captain products which are awesome!
Great episode, looking forward to next week. Stay safe.
We stayed in the campground at Parham back in November 2019 for one night. Back then it was a free camp area. We only used it as a stop over on our way to Robe. We had the same thought about the place, not much to do there. Great videos guys, always enjoy them.
Yea, great camp for a stop over but as you said, not much to do
Great vid you two/three- Bob, Glad you are back and sharing adventures.
Thank you so much
It’s taken me many months to watch all your episodes. I keep watching for 20k!! Keep shining!
Hey guys. Great to catch you guys in Adelaide. We also stayed in the Parham Camp Ground just before Adelaide. Great spot for the price as you mentioned. Saw a few people getting some blue swimmers there. Also the caravan park near where you went swimming in Port Wakefield is not bad as well. Not much in the town but the pub has some great food. Take care and hope we catch you guys again. Keep up the great content. Cheers. Mark.
Thank you. The caravan park looked pretty good but unfortunately haven't stayed before
Hey so glad to hear your going to keep making content you do really great work we love your channel
Here is another twist for a pizza base you can use wraps, if you like a thinner base use 2 wraps with a sprinkle of grated cheese in between, its glues them together and gives a more topping taste
Thanks so much! We have tried the wraps but with cream cheese between and it was phenomenal!
Lovely ep and places and so glad you are still doing EPs Guys
Thank you
Thanks Craig. Hope you have an awesome week!
I will thanks and I hope you two do to@@suelandolt6840
Well, well, well Derek the bar tender😂 good looks and talent,…….what a treat before dinner I’m going to try it. We are travelling in Tassie at the moment and like you both have been swimming in various places, cold at first but wonderful once we’ve taken the plunge. If we see you on the road expect us to make a reservation for dinner and drinks. Stay safe guys and thanks for the upload.
That sounds amazing Rowan, yes it's tough getting in but you warmnup eventually! 💯 look forward to dinner and a drink!
Good to see you enjoying SA
Friendly fishing tip if no one has suggested it. Let squid jig drop in water column after cast then give rod 3-4good rod twitches let jig sink again and repeat till it’s back to you. If you go near wool bay that’s the place to get squid.
Never tried that and definitely going to give it a go! Thanks for the tip!
also Sue if you see the slippery little suckers just follow the jig in, stop and let the bail arm open on reel and let the jig sink quickly to the bottom. This makes them believe that the “fish’ is trying to hide on the bottom and it prompt them into striking.
Hope to be down that way after easter ! 🎉 cant wait to hit the road next week !
😊 that's so exciting, hope it's an awesome trip for you!
Great little place I was there not long ago at Parham you should go crab raking it’s good fun.
Thanks Michael, yes we have been told the crabbing is amazing in Parham!
Good to meet you guys at Adelaide Showground Campground 👍 We really enjoyed the Yorke. Now we're in WA! Great episode, cheers
Thank you. Safe travels and enjoy WA !
Great episode. Parham one of the best places for blue swimmer crabs.
Pizza, cook in air fryer 3mins each side with just the base then put on toppings and cook another 6 minutes
Thanks Andrew, great tip, will try it out!
A good tip to stop your pizza sticking to the board is to use polenta between base and board. Also adds a great flavour!
Love watching your vids, one of the best😊
Happy Wednesday
Great vid go you legends
Thank you
Little things…. Love how bloody big your picnic table is!!
hi derek and sue, another great episodei stayed on that coast myself on the way back from streaky bay,i think it was port stephens, that tide goes miles out, glad you are both back in the routine and you seem a bit happier after last week, you are both naturals in regards to your narative on your videos i really enjoy them, sorry to hear you were let down with the power to the van .as i said in my last comments you are both great ambasadors for our great country keep on touring its great
Just stumbled across your video I live in ardrossan if your still on the Yorke Peninsula my favourite bush camp is mozzie flats just out of yorketown and my favourite beach is kemps
Thanks so much, we have left unfortunately but will add to our lost for our next visit!
Looks like a great site, shame about the power and swimming. Friends and I actually go to the Port Wakefield Caravan Park where you went swimming. It actually a little gem that place
We will have to try the caravan park in the future
💯 another subscriber has said the same! The little park was packed when we went down for a swim, it does look good so will probably stay there next time we pass through!
Hey loved the episode as we always do. Xx Sue love your swimmers wonder where you got them from. Xx
Thank you ...
Thanks Monique, can you believe I got them off Temu and they are great! I
Great episode guys xx Bobby is so cute
Thanks so much, and 💯 agree but I am a bit bias when it comes to Bob! 😂
Happy days! My luck at fishing is terrible, so just keep trying. I am not craving a meatball pizza so bad. Great episode
Thanks team. 😊
Thanks for the support
Another amazing episode ❤
Great vid... One Day....
Thanks so much!
Great pizza base, we have used that exclusively for our pizzas for years. They also make a good bread dough. I would have been pissed ff about the power, but, hey, $20 a night is good.
They were great pizzas.
Great video
Thanks!
Head down to Edithburgh if you like swimming. Tidal pool, jumping off the jetty. Then down 2 sultana point. Great caravan park as well
Loved you video this week
Awesome vid guys.
Gday, haven't watched you for awhile, that drop down bench on the side of the van is awesome, surely with all those solar panels on the roof you must have more than 300w, i've got 320w with just two plates.
Another amazing episode, thanks
Thank you
Love your smile Sue
Nice job guys. Long time viewer, first time poster. Hey, what brand hitch are you using. We love how honest, humble you both are. And especially love your humour.
Thank you so much and we appreciate the feed back and support. The hitch is a Gen-y hitch
@@justvanningit many thanks
I spied a wine bottle. They make great impromptu dough rollers.
Great idea
Hey what tyre's are you running now looks a awesome spot enjoy hey Bob
Maxxis razor MT
Early AM or late in the day around high tide is the go there for squid, Deryck. Water low & pretty murky for squid that day too, as well as sun high in the sky. Slow your retrieve down too ol' son.. 😉
Thank you for the tips. Always keen to learn and take on feedback 😁
Thanksnsonmuch, superb advice and gave me a giggle too!
Parham, good for blue swimmer crabs, raking, and those vehicles you saw are called Jinkers, used to launch and retrieve boats . Sorry Derek had to laugh at you going for a swim, just like me 😅. So glad to see you still on TH-cam, your much better than those other morons.
Thank you. Im trying to get used to swimming more often as I actually enjoy it when I'm in the water
Deryk and Sue, if you like a drink, try a bottle of Butterscotch schnapps it'll make your hair curl😂
Ooooh that sounds heavenly 😍
Great Episode 🍾🥂
I was wondering how did you go with the sale of the car and boat. I hope everything went well for you guys.
Thank you. No luck on the sale of the cruiser just yet.
Hey, just a drink suggestion, American honey is amazing on ice......Yum
We will have to try it 😁
Oh wow never tried that before!
good post guys
Thanks Robert, appreciate it!
Let’s go legends 👌🥂🥂
Hope you enjoy 🙌🏻
Go fishing at Black Point in your boat awesome fishing for squid and whiting and Ardrossan spent so much time there as my grand parents lived there great bakery with the best Cornish pasties and blue swimmer crabs at Tiddy Widdy beach
Oh wow. Thanks appreciate all the tips! Will definitely give those spots a go o nour next visit!
Why the title????? And secondary title you seemed happy
We wouldn't go back to this particular park. It was low cost and seemed good value but for us wasn't a preferred spot and sadly the power we paid for didn't work. Kept tripping.
Camped in our jayco there for the 1st time about 2005. No fee back then just go have a beer at the community club think it was open Friday and Saturday afternoons. There where a dozen modified tractors going out in the water cathing blue swimmer crabs. Walked out what seemed to be kms with the kids catching crabs with a rake. A local give us a lift back to shore on a tractor. You missed out if you didn't try and catch a crab for dinner.
Stunning spot 👍
🙌🏻
The truck is so shiny.
Did you attend a show and shine?
Always trying to keep our gear clean and tidy
You’ve got a big van with enough real estate for plenty of solar, put more batteries in and an inverter so you can be self sufficient and run the AC
Yes 100% we can run the aorcon for a couple of hours but not all day unfortunately
You gotta watch out for the invisible SA Salt Water Crocks..... You'll never know when they'll attack 🤣
That area of SA Coastline was always good for crabbing when I was growing up. Not sure what its like now
😂
😂😂😂 yes too good! I am nervous enough about the sharks 🦈 don't wanna have to worry about crocodiles too!
Where do you find your camping sites? What app do you use?
Looks great. what about the grey water? cheers
Sue, I will be the water with you.
Deryk, Brad will be shivering with you & can't get out quick enough.
😂
Been there twice , mainly trying out gear for larger trips Car Camping , only 45km from me , all good
Is there a tattoo in Bobby's left ear? See something at beginning of vid.
Yes there is, when we had him neutered, they tatooed his ear. We didn't know they would but have gotten used to it!
great episode 👏 but I may be a little bias......my home state 😉
Realistic advice. Don’t you love SA seaweed 😂😂
LET'S GOOOOooooooooo
eeeeew hope you enjoyed
SUPER Loved it lol, Keep up the great work !@@justvanningit
👍🙌
🙌🏻
Expensive parking!
Where does Bobby get the energy from
We ask the same question 😂
I have no idea...but it's endless 😂
What size are the yeti tumblers
Try a white squid lure
I do have one but tried something else but may have to go back to the white
Where are you staying again please
We stayed at Parham and Ardrossan in this episode
Thanks for the info
Most likely to be a shark than a croc , Deryck
I think that’s what I was trying to say
😂😂😂
❤
I need to find a man with a large tow ball to tow my retro 24ft millard😂😂😂
Low cost camping????? That rig combo would have to cost well over $200k (new). Also wonder what the fuel consumption would be, ~ 20 +ltr per 100 KMs?
Sea weed ,everywhere. What’s it smell like?
Smell wasn't too bad actually but yes loads of seaweed!
Do you ever see green grass
