Hi Sanne, I love your videos but can you please fix the fact that we can't see the books your showing, they are out of frame.

+Sarah Hunte I had some issues with the sun being too bright and washing out the covers at a certain angle, but I'll keep it in mind for next time :)

minor gripe - it would be great if you would show the covers for a few seconds longer and hold them still!! Loved you reviewing some picture books, would like to see more and an idea which aged kids they might be suitable for. X

I'm a sucker for graphic novels. Definitely getting Nimona.... The only things I could probably recommend is comic book series and since you said you're used to a different story format I don't know how you'd feel about it. One of the series I enjoyed most though, was a Marvel series for Hawkeye, the 2012 comics. The writing was interesting, I loved the art and the ideas behind the comics were fun. There was even one comic written out of Clint Barton a.k.a Hawkeye's dogs perspective, which was one of my favorites of the series...... Great video!

+A Freshly Turned Page This Hawkeye run is definitely one of my all time favourite comics too! I especially love how they portrayed his disability, and of course Kate Bishop also is a highlight of the run for me! :)

      @Jadieum 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+Emma Grace I completely agree. The comic that focused on his disability was so well done and it was portrayed in such an interesting way. I loved his interactions with the other characters besides Kate as well, it just all worked. Of course Kate Bishop is awesome, one of my favorite female characters.

I love Nimona! Anyone who loves graphic novels; I really recommend Anya's Ghost by Vera Brogsol. It was the first graphic novel I read and it was so so good! Blankets by Craig Thompson is also really good but it's definitely not a light read.

I reeeaaallly want to read Nimona, I read the first couple of pages in a book shop and adored it!!! (also if you like Superheroes, you should definitely check out the DC Earth One graphic novels, the art in those is just fantastic!)
I also love your hair and make up in this video, you look absolutely stunning! :) xx

Laika looks amazing, I love illustrations that are inspired by the russian avant-garde!
Definitely going to look for some of these, graphic novels are my go-to books during the school year 'cause my lit teacher gives so many books to read that it's nice to have a colorful break from them sometimes

I've been wanting to read The Unwritten! Now I think that I will have to pick that up from the library. And Nimona was amazing and I loved it so much!!

  • @iridium626

I would definitely recommend "The Secret life of Princesses" and "Het geheime dagboek van Klein Duimpje" by Philippe Lechermeier.. The stories are adorable and weird, but what is most striking is the illustration work. Really bold and warm colors, and very well thought out page layouts! I think you'll love them!

Nimona is so good! I love the love story in it as well :) I'd recommend the very much more adult picture book by Michael Rosen called Michael Rosen's Sad Book which talks about his grief over the death of his son & is beautifully illustrated by my fave Quentin Blake. Also Lillian's Right To Vote which is a picture book about the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S.!

You should really check out The Arrival by Shaun Tan, it's a wordless graphic novel and it is just amazing. There's really a lot going on and it challenges you to understand the story without the words there to tell you it. I read it in a graphic novel class a few years back and was totally floored. Also just as far as regular graphic novels go Brian Lee O'Malley's (author of Scott Pilgrim) newest graphic novel Seconds is very good!

You should read Odd Duck by Cecil Castellucci or The Day the Crayons Quit by Oliver Jeffers. They are the best Children's books I've read as an adult.

Another great comic series that Noelle Stevenson worked on with a few other great female creators is Lumberjanes! It's about a group of girls having supernatural adventures at summer camp.

You should read The Nao of Brown, it's an absolutely amazing graphic novel about a woman struggling with violent intrusive thoughts and OCD, and it's all done in gorgeous watercolours. Genuinely the best book I've read all year.

Have you ever read "Who will comfort Toffle?" by Tove Jansson? It's a picture book for children, but I really enjoyed it as well :) The story is quite simple but the illustrations are soo beautiful!

I recently bought The Encyclopedia of Early Earth after watching your review of it. It was actually my first-ever graphic novel reading experience and I absolutely fell in love! I was wondering if you could recommend any books or other graphic novels with a similar feel? I've bought so many books based on your recommendations, so I've come to trust your bookish opinions.

HI Sanne, any graphic novels where a woollen hat appears? I like to make hats and my first was from Shatter Me (in second book you can find it... my idea of the hat on my YT channel)... anyway, second hat will be elf's hat from Harry Potter (as someone was knitting something in the 5th book), but what next I would like to read something new and knit.... any suggestions? :) Barbara

Hi!! You should really try reading The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan. It has such beautiful illustrations and the message is very important, I'd love for you to check it out. There is also a short film of it on TH-cam, the illustrations are the same - along with the words - and it is narrated by Tim Minchin. I love your videos!
