I love when people take their time to actually show the art of the graphic novels other than just talk about the summary. Great recommendations, Jesse ;)
The fuck do you read at a pace? 3 seconds per page? Your suposed to slowly enjoy it. Sure some might take like an hour to finish, but they defentlt don't take 5 minutes.... Unless it's like 20 pages...
Dragoner Productions they obviously don’t actually read them in five minutes. they just mean they read them really quickly, like if you say “we’ve been here for forever” you haven’t actually been there for forever, you just say it to make a point.
I once got a graphic novel before the school day started and almost finished before school was over they are quick reads but they are amazing my friends are like how do you read that fast
Nimona was soooo good!!! I wanted to go through it slowly since like you said it doesn't take much time to read a graphic novel and I wanted it to last a while. Next thing I knew I was finished with it! I'm glad I bought it though because I know it's one I'll reread or at least look at the drawings for (especially when she's a shark with boobs, that had me rolling on the floor)
I am so glad I picked "The Gigantic Beard that was Evil" at a random thriftshop in the free books pile last Summer. I just read it during the Booktubeathon and LOVED it
I loved how u reviewed them cause I seen a lot of Graphic Novels Reviews without showing any of the pages this was an amazing review video in my opinion! 😀
This is just the video I needed. I've been meaning to get into graphic novels but had no idea where to start. I've had Nimona in my amazon wishlist for a while now but haven't bought it yet because, as you've said, graphic novels are expensive! Great recommendations!
I'm currently reading "Nimona". I'm having so much fun... wouldn't have known about if you hadn't mentioned it in one of your videos so thank you veeeeery much. :D
Also, pretty much every one you mentioned was already on my Amazon wish list but it's cool to have a video with descriptions all in one place! now I can come back to this when I want a reminder and what to see which one I should pick up next! :D
This is just the video I was looking for! I got "Through the Woods" at the VidCon book swap. I just finished it and loved it! It was my second graphic novel and I was kind of like "Cool! Loved that. Now what do I read?!" So thank you! This is Perfect!
I left a comment on your last video asking for this & you answered! Thanks so much Jesse! The next time I go to the library I'm definitely gonna check for some of these :)
UGHHHHH YEESSS! Where was this video a week ago when I was looking for a graphic novel rec list for my book buying binge. Ah well, next time!! Got me some good New 52 at least
I checked out Through The Woods from the library a while ago and I couldn't even get through the last few stories. I actually got to the point where I just got super uncomfortable even having it in my house and took it back right away. If you are into that kind of thing it definitely messes with your mind! but I totally agree that, if you can (my library doesn't have the best selection), getting them from the library before you invest is a good idea!
Graphic novels are awesome! Great video! I've read "the Amulet" and I currently have "In real life" on my desk. Looking extra forward to Reading it now.
You should check out the Island series! I really enjoy them! It's more of an adult graphic novel but I really enjoy the varying art styles as each volume contains different stories.
Amulet is really beautiful. I just completed Locke & Key which absolutely blew my mind. So excellent - but definitely scary. Also, it's probably obvious, but Neil Gaiman's Sandman series is transcendent.
PLEASE READ ALAN MOORES. GRAPHIC NOVELS (watchmen, v for vendetta, the saga of the swamp thing, a league of extraordinary gentlemen and ofc the killing JOKE) u will NOT REGRET IT
ITCHY GINGI EVERYTHING ALAN MOORE IS AMAZING! Re-reading Watchmen atm because it is amazing. Promethea and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen are great too! Really want to get my hands on a copy of the Killing Joke too! I think I read it from the library a while back, but love having his graphic novels. Another really in depth one I read was From Hell, all about Jack the Ripper. So coooooool! Really gory though.
+ITCHY GINGI Watchmen is fantastic.I found V for Vendetta a little boring thou interesting.Swamp Thing was a really nice read.Havent read League of Extraordiary Gentleman yet.The Killing Joke is a classic and i love it.From Hell is really good(Thou the graphic style is not of my taste).
I read Amulet recently and I really liked it! It was different to what I was expecting but it was a super fun read :D I just got In Real Life and Nimona and I'm looking forward to reading them! They sound like fun :) I love Seconds! Such an awesome read and the art style was amazing!
Flight is also a great series of graphic novels that include different illustrators' stories into one book. There are currently 7 volumes and the artists are very diverse and I personally love them all.
I'm not a big graphic novel reader. Actually, I don't even think I've read a single graphic novel in my life. At least not that I remember. Thanks for the recommendations! I don't know when I'll be able to get to them all but if I ever want to, at least I know where to start. Although, I just heard that they're turning TMI into a graphic novel series (since I've already read the series) so I might try those.
i liked the video because it you showed different graphic novels then the most usual i've seen, but i didn't exactly liked those ones still really nice of you picking them!
i remember back then when i was still in high schooler in my 8th grades i just found and used to read the “Amulet” book in library during in peaceful evening while waiting my parents to pick me up after school
I really liked amulet! I definitely agree that it has a spiderwick chronicles feel. Btw I'm starting mrs peregrines this month so I can go to the Ransom Riggs event in Atlanta. I have high expectations because of you lol
I read my first graphic novel this month which was Maus by Art Spiegelman. I absolutely loved it!! I was actually lured into the graphic novels section of Waterstones by The Gigantic Beard that was Evil but ended up taking an interest in Maus (as I love learning about the Holocaust and the Third Reich) and it did not disappoint! Spiegelman tells the story of his father's survival of the Holocaust with such abject honesty, it makes you feel sad, shocked and even laugh at times. I would highly recommend it if you haven't read it yet
I'll be checking out all of these. I have read Anya's Ghost. I give it a 3.5 out 5 mostly because I felt like there should have been more. Some of the side story lines were just sorta dropped without any real or satisfying resolutions. I was just left wanting more - not in the good way like with the Harry Potter series but it felt a bit unfinished. Like it should have been at least 10 pages longer.
I just tossed Amulet on my wishlist because it sounds awesome. And I did love Spiderwick Chronicles and I've had my eye on Through the Woods for a while, but I think I'm gonna wait until October to read it since I'm only reading horror lit for the whole month. :)
You should really check out the graphic novels by Gene Luen Yang! American Born Chinese, Boxers & Saints, and The Shadow Hero are some of the best graphic novels I've read. They bring a spotlight to Chinese and Chinese Americans, with some of China's legends and history and the experience of immigrating to America. As an ABC myself, reading these made me so happy to find something that perfectly represented my experiences growing up in America.
Totally gonna try to read a couple of these! Although the first one I wanna try out is the Legend graphic novel since Legend by Marie Lu is my fave book like ever
Explorer, Through the Woods and Seconds all sounds interesting! I also want to check out *Chew!* which I heard is super quirky and funny, the best things is that I might be going to the library tomorrow! ;) So we will see what happens!
I just bought Nimona and I'm so excited to read it !!! ^^ And I really want to buy Through the Wood, but I didn't find it... I'm not english or american and I guess it isn't already available in Switzerland. Why did I live here ?! X) Mehh... I'll buy it on Amazon ! (Sorry for my bad english ! And thank you Jesse ! You make me discover new books and you really help me to learn english ! ^^ I hope you will never stop ! Thanks from Switzerland !
Hi! I have a book suggestion for you, it's not a graphic novel but more of a post apocalyptic young adult series. It's called the Feast of Weeds by Jamie Thornton and so far there are only two books out and the first one is a novella about 80 pages I think and the second one is a novel, exactly 300 pages. It just so happens that my 7th grade math teacher wrote this and it is just amazing. 😊
This video is great! Im so glad I could hear about some graphic novels you really enjoyed since I've been wanting to pick some up recently!;) I just read The Lightning Thief graphic novel and had a fun time with that, so I will definitely be picking up more in the future (especially some of the ones you mentioned=D)
I read anya's ghost a few times borrowed it from library I actually returned it to the library today :) it's one of my favourite graphic novels :) amazing book :)
I don't know if you already red this mangas, but you should read the Star Watchig Dog mangas, they're really cool! It has a beautiful story and it's a really fast read, like 30 min. Please give them (there's two, equally beautiful both) I promise you'll love them.
My recommendation to a graphic novel is awkward series by Svetlana Chmakova because those are so good and basicly about getting through middle school and she created lovable characters
Explorer looks/sounds so interesting. This month I read Bayou by Jeremy Love, and I think it might be the most beautifully illustrated and haunting/creepy graphic novel. The two volumes were amazing.
I love when people take their time to actually show the art of the graphic novels other than just talk about the summary. Great recommendations, Jesse ;)
Yes! We love seeing a few sample pages in graphic novels 🥰
My RECS:
Ghost World
Blue is the warmest colour
Scott Pilgrim
I finish graphic novels in like 5 minutes
Endrit Vortex same but normal novels take me about a week
You and me both
My favorite graphic novels are "Nimona" and "In Real Life' they're so great
I just ordered three graphic novels today, I'm so excited to read this new medium of books 😊
I just read it during the Booktubeathon and LOVED it
In a year I found out that my schools library gave me the fifth book of amulet... I was like "FUUUUUUUUUUUUU-"
AMULET IS SO GOOD, ALL OF THEM ARE AMAZING!
I loved how u reviewed them cause I seen a lot of Graphic Novels Reviews without showing any of the pages this was an amazing review video in my opinion! 😀

I've only just hopped in the graphic novel band wagon and now i have to catch up with years worth of them

Shamy Moments Yay! You're welcome!
This is just the video I needed. I've been meaning to get into graphic novels but had no idea where to start. I've had Nimona in my amazon wishlist for a while now but haven't bought it yet because, as you've said, graphic novels are expensive!
Great recommendations!
faeriedrugs Glad this video helped!! :)
Amulet is my all time favourite graphic novel series 😍♥️
I'm currently reading "Nimona". I'm having so much fun... wouldn't have known about if you hadn't mentioned it in one of your videos so thank you veeeeery much. :D
Through the Woods is incredible! So happy to see it on your recommends. More people need to be creeped out by the open-ended , spine-chilling stories.
Also, pretty much every one you mentioned was already on my Amazon wish list but it's cool to have a video with descriptions all in one place! now I can come back to this when I want a reminder and what to see which one I should pick up next! :D
Seeing Heir of Fire book on your shelf made me happy. Its one of my favorite series! 🤩
This is just the video I was looking for! I got "Through the Woods" at the VidCon book swap. I just finished it and loved it! It was my second graphic novel and I was kind of like "Cool! Loved that. Now what do I read?!" So thank you! This is Perfect!

Katie Greenwood Same! I need to get the Scott Pilgrim series ASAP.
I checked out Through The Woods from the library a while ago and I couldn't even get through the last few stories. Thank you so much for the recommendations Jessie!
THROUGH THE WOODS IS AMAZING! I love that graphic novel!

Hi, I’m 11 and I’ve read Nimona and it was absolutely fantastic. I read it in a night and a morning. I especially like the art.
Amulet is really beautiful. I just completed Locke & Key which absolutely blew my mind. So excellent - but definitely scary. Also, it's probably obvious, but Neil Gaiman's Sandman series is transcendent.
I'm going to have to finally check out Nimona! I'm definitely going to be getting some of these from the library!

Charlie M Yes :)
And do you recommend it? I love Miss Peregrine's and would like to read the graphic novel...
I really do want to get into graphic novels and these are great to start with
GOTHAM ACADEMY! It's so adorable and fun!!
My recommendation to a graphic novel is awkward series by Svetlana Chmakova because those are so good and basicly about getting through middle school and she created lovable characters
I'm definitely interested in reading Anya's Ghost. have you read Blue is the warmest colour by any chance?
The library way is definitely the way I go.
In Germany, there's no way one's going to find these graphic novels in a library, not even in a bookstore. -.- I have to buy them online...
I love amulet!!
Do you read manga? Have you read Yotsuba?
The Reading Puppet I've only read a few manga series. I'm currently working my way through Bakuman.
jessethereader If you ever get the chance to check out Yotsuba, I recommend it - it's the cutest manga about a 5 year girl. :)
cough Noragami cough
My Hero Academia !!!!!
@@jasonbrowne4422 ughh that is a mood
Explorer looks/sounds so interesting.
This month I read Bayou by Jeremy Love, and I think it might be the most beautifully illustrated and haunting/creepy graphic novel. The two volumes were amazing.
You need to read the Prince and the Dressmaker graphic novel! It's really good!
You should try Fables!
Never have shame from eating delicious donuts lol
I want to read Through the woods and In Real Life!! But they aren't in my country and I don't think that I'll be able to order them online 😔
I've read all of these yay! If you like amulet you should read flight. Also try persophelis (spelled that wrong), American born Chinese, Trees. Etc
YES YES YES YES YES I LUUUUV AMULET SERIES BY KAZU KIBUISHI YESYESYESYES
