Nico Bleton the first Back To The Future is unquestionably the best movie in the trilogy. Surprising that anyone would even publicly suggest the sequel is the better.
The title is bad. Most of the sequels were not "way" better than the originals. Also, this is the ONLY place I've ever seen BTTF2 described as being better than the original. In every single way (critically, box office, legacy) the original is superior. For those shouting "Aliens", sorry. The two films are so completely different that each is a classic in its own genre (horror vs action adventure). One is not better than the other, they're different.
I have to agree with all of these EXCEPT Back To The Future 2... (Really??? BttF2?) The first movie is considered a classic, often referred to as "perfect," sci-fi movie. The only person I know who prefers part 2 over parts 1 and 3 is my friend who ALSO thinks Temple of Doom was the best Indiana Jones movie! 😑
Yes to me the 2nd Back to the Future was the best. As it had awesome plot twists, especially when Marty went back to the alternate screwed up 1985 after Biff messed it up. As for Jones, The Last Crusade is my favorite of the trilogy.
I think Crystal Skulls is better than Temple of Doom. Not better than Raiders and Crusade, but definitely Temple. PS, I think Crystal Skulls is an okay movie.
Temple of doom has a special place in my heart since it was the first Indiana Jones movie I watched, but last crusade is the better movie, and back to the future 2 might not be as good as 1, but the future portrayed in it is to this day the most popular segment in the series, as a hole the first movie just makes more sense it feels more complete, but the few minutes of the future footage defined the series in ways people tend to forget, when you say back to the future, 50% of the time the first thing that comes to mind is the flying DeLorean, 40% of the time is the hoverboard, and 5% of the time self lacing shoes, all of these were introduced in back to the future 2 (most people forget that the original DeLorean was a car that didn't flight at all, except for a very brief moment in the end of the first movie, but the flying car is completely tied to the second movie), back to the future 2 is far more important to the trilogy than people give credit for.

jeo nacho TDR has one of the most likeable villains ever put to screen from DC, there's nothing sloppy about the movie either. I think it's a great end to the trilogy.
I remember Roger Ebert reviewing this movie saying that Spiderman-2 was the greatest superhero movie made to date. Man that pissed me off! IMO, it was terrible! The worst of the 3 Rami movies. It rehashed/replayed the 1st too much & Parker losing his powers because he didn't want them? It's not like Superman 2 where he went through a process to give up his powers, he just didn't want them anymore. It was crap!
No you're not I was actually surprised to see they ranked 2 higher than 1..compared to the Spiderman's now days these don't stand a chance but for their time I believe Spiderman 1 was WAY more impactful than the second...
Fun Fact: William Defoe was supposed to play the Joker and he is my favorite choice to play him he has the perfect face and the build to be a perfect joker and of course acting skills
There is a fucking outbreak of "hipsterism", "specialsnowflakeism" and "attentionwhoreing" in this comment section. In my entire life, I've never heard of anyone that thought T1 was better than T2. It's almost laughable to say it. T1 is almost a slasher film, but with robots. T2 has much more complexity, it has an actual message, it's touching, thrilling, memorable. You can not even compare them.
Dawn was so good, it was one of the few movies that totally convinced me they killed off the main character but then brought him back, usually I don’t fall for that, but that movie had me
AS Paul Hogan once said in an interview." In order for a sequel to work. It must be 1& 1/2 times, to 2 times better than the original." I have to agree.
I think they’re both two different genres. Alien was a horror movie, Aliens was an action movie with horror traits. So one can’t truly compare the two on equal ground. That’s my opinion anyway.
Are you serious? Alien was a horror movie, a prefect horror movie with slow pacing, increasing tension and a terrifying atmosphere of powerlessness and isolation. Aliens was action shlock; good, fun action shlock, but schlock all the same. It's in no way "universally considered superior" by anyone, especially because they're not even on the same class (horror vs action).
The best way I saw this series, they rearranged it and mix up 1 & 2, so it begins with him as a small boy and goes from there. Where as in 2 in comes in small flashback. I believe it was AMC did it
GUYS! Can someone please tell me what the name of the movie about the hand that’s alive?! They show the hand in the opening of this video. I remember that movie vaguely from my childhood and been trying to find it for years
Star Trek: The Motion Picture was taken from the pilot episode of a (at that time) new Star Trek series starring the original series cast, minus Leonard Nimoy, titled "Star Trek: Phase II" When it was reworked into a movie, Nimoy in the film because he was unavailable to do the TV series version of a new Star Trek and was available after they had reworked it into a theatrical film
The first movie struck me as a plodding "hey lookie, it's Star Trek!! On a big screen!!!!!" The second accepted that universe as a given and built a real story on top of it.
I think the two films are very different and hard to compare The first film was more 2001 and Blade Runner like While the second film is more swashbuckling Star Wars like Both films are great in there own ways - but Wrath is a cinematic masterpiece - not just my favourite Star Trek film but my favourite overall film of all time Nicholas Meyer is a god!
Terminator 2 might have more advanced special effects but the stakes are way lower. In the first movie, two people have to escape a machine from the future which won't stop until one of them is dead. The second is two super-powered machines pitted against each other.
In the sequel they forget the whole "living flesh" aspect of the time machine just so they can have the brother of the singer Filter (and shitty Moulded replacement) show up as a shitty liquid metal effect.
I agree with a good portion of those. Unfortunately, several of those films I haven't seen. However, I wish that your lists were longer. Top 20 would be much better in my opinion.
Some other movies I would have liked to see in the list (or mentioned): Toy story 3 (if that counts as a sequel) Kill Bill Vol. 2 Aliens Blade Runner 2049 (Took a long time, but it is a sequel :P) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Hunger Games - Catching Fire (This one actually had some story) The Avengers - Age of Ultron The Maze Runner - Scorch Trials The Purge - Anarchy Thor - The Dark World
God no. The first one was better. More adult, and the characters were still original. Shrek 2 was fun, but no real character development and some of the new characters didn't live up to the ones in the first.
I don't agree Blade 2 was better than the first but here are some sequels I think are worth mentioning: Shrek 2 Aliens Mission Impossible 2 Desperado Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
T2 is better than The Terminator? This is a bad joke, right? It's just the first step down to the abysmal third film. After they got a serious budget, they said, "Who needs a good story, we'll let the special effects carry it. "
Really??? Evil Dead 2 is better than Evil Dead. Evil Dead is a classic scary horror; yes old and low budget as hell. Evil Dead 2 is just a fun campy movie. Only real thing I liked about it, was that means the character survived part 1. And Back to the Future 1 was btter than 2. Some strange opinions in this video!
Finally someone on here points that out. The 1st manages to be scary and funny at the same time which is difficult to pull off. The second is just funny. Still love both of them.
I honestly think the Acadamy should add a "Best Motion Capture Performance award". I mean seriously the Apes movies alone should be enough for him to win every year.
I actually like the way the Green Goblin looked most of the time villains dont look the way they did in comic books and it is disappointing I wish more villians had there comic book costumes just bc it's not meant to be real it's meant to be fun which is why I think they did a good job with the Green Goblin
What is the movie shown at the very beginning with the living hand? I thought it was evil dead at first but I'm pretty sure it's a completely different movie I saw as a kid that I've been trying to find for years.
*the first time i watched Evil Dead 2 and Ash said "Groovy"* *SQUEALS OF JOY* *the hundredth time i've watched Evil Dead 2 and Ash said "Groovy"* *ALSO SQUEALS OF JOY*
I agree with every Single One Movie in this List - except The Dark Night... I like Batman Begins more than this sequel. but great List Dudes! In my opinion following movies are better in their sequels: First Blood II, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Rush Hour 2, The Amazing Spider Man 2
To be fair, LOTR are not three movies, but a 12 hours long movie, divided in three parts. Just because there is a sequence, it does not mean that there is a sequel. It is one indivisible story.
TLOR was written as a trilogy and the movie conceived as such. The Godfather was a stand alone with sequels. A fourth was even talked about. There is no 4th TLOR. The story is over.
I actually like Matrix Reloaded out of all 3 films. Love highway scene, brawler alley scene, Merovingian Mansion scene. Batman Returns also tops all of the original Batman movies. Aliens. Pirates of Caribbean Dead Mans Chest also
Nothing against the first movie but Taken 2 had tighter pacing and better action and deserves to be on the list and it is the only movie in the series where the viewer genuinely fears for the welfare of Bryan Mills not just his family.
What other superior sequels do you think should've made the list?
calling T2 "superior" to T1 is quite an overreach. i could stomache better, pending on taste. ;)
Looper I’m not sure if this counts as a sequel, but I absolutely adored “Logan”.
Aliens.... Just like Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Alien felt like a horror suspense film while Aliens was an action thriller... Both are good in their own rights.

Shrek 2, The Raid 2, Rocky IV, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Aliens, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

I think I may be the only person in existence who likes Spider Man 1 more than Spider Man 2
jeo nacho TDR has one of the most likeable villains ever put to screen from DC, there's nothing sloppy about the movie either.
I didn't think either one was very good. Peter Parker was just a very annoying character. The 2nd one was better, but I still didn't like it much.
T2, T3, T4, T5, bla bla bla. There is no other Terminator than "The Terminator", the original sci-fi/horror masterpiece by James Cameron. Period.
You can not even compare them.
radamanthium - Many T1 fans dislike T2 coz the pussified Terminator hifives the brat, stands on one foot, and doesn't Terminate nuffin
jermaine tobin - He was awesome! So, it should be his movie, without the sissified T1 standing around on one foot, cracking lame jokes, ffs 😂
I liked them both, but I gotta admit I perfer 1
Terminator 2 was amazing and a big step up from the original. The series went downhill after that.
Wouldn't say that Road Warrior was better than Mad Max. Great movie, but it doesn't surpass the simple, primal power of the original.
I remember Terminator 2. That move pushed special effects to a whole new level. Won many movie awards. It was still the best of the series.
What about Troll 2?
btw....I'm just trolling you guys.
DementedCaver oh my gooooooooooooood
Have to agree the terminator first one is still the best of all!!!
Back to the Future Part II was fun and entertaining but it's hardly way better than its predecessor!
Too bad the Dundee sequel movie writers didnt take his advice
This list is rendered invalid with the exclusion of Aliens.. Universally considered superior to Alien.
You missed one guys.
.... I actually prefer Alien...
I think they’re both two different genres. Alien was a horror movie, Aliens was an action movie with horror traits. So one can’t truly compare the two on equal ground. That’s my opinion anyway.
@@jamesearlcash7725 What he said
Are you serious? Alien was a horror movie, a prefect horror movie with slow pacing, increasing tension and a terrifying atmosphere of powerlessness and isolation. Aliens was action shlock; good, fun action shlock, but schlock all the same. It's in no way "universally considered superior" by anyone, especially because they're not even on the same class (horror vs action).
Alien > Aliens
Talk shit anout my Blade? Thats fatal!!!! I love all three but the second one is my favorite out the three.
Agree with all except blade II, The Godfather Part II, Back To The Future Part II and T2
I remember that movie vaguely from my childhood and been trying to find it for years
Juan Mallqui Adams Family
My favs
1. Dark knight
2. Terminator 2
3. Winter soldier
4. Aliens
5. MI 4 & 5
6. Road warrior
7. RAID berandal
Star Trek: The Motion Picture was taken from the pilot episode of a (at that time) new Star Trek series starring the original series cast, minus Leonard Nimoy, titled "Star Trek: Phase II"
When it was reworked into a movie, Nimoy in the film because he was unavailable to do the TV series version of a new Star Trek and was available after they had reworked it into a theatrical film
The first movie struck me as a plodding "hey lookie, it's Star Trek!! On a big screen!!!!!" The second accepted that universe as a given and built a real story on top of it.
I think the two films are very different and hard to compare
The first film was more 2001 and Blade Runner like
While the second film is more swashbuckling Star Wars like
Both films are great in there own ways - but Wrath is a cinematic masterpiece - not just my favourite Star Trek film but my favourite overall film of all time
Nicholas Meyer is a god!
Blade II isn't better than the original....
I know
Terminator 2 might have more advanced special effects but the stakes are way lower.
I thought Green Goblins costume was cool when I was a kid. Still do.
I agree with a good portion of those. Unfortunately, several of those films I haven't seen. However, I wish that your lists were longer. Top 20 would be much better in my opinion.
Shrek 2 was the best of its series
I waited all the vidéo just to hear about Evil Dead 2
GROOOOOOVVYYY
Giulio del Monte 2nd was like a remake I say of first one but I totally liked it better than the first.
But it's the worst Evil Dead movie.
Maria Rosa I agree with u
the great Bruce Campbell the chin that launched a dozen B-MOVIES!! LOL!
i should be doing my homework
Some other movies I would have liked to see in the list (or mentioned):
Toy story 3 (if that counts as a sequel)
Kill Bill Vol. 2
Aliens
Blade Runner 2049 (Took a long time, but it is a sequel :P)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Hunger Games - Catching Fire (This one actually had some story)
The Avengers - Age of Ultron
The Maze Runner - Scorch Trials
The Purge - Anarchy
Thor - The Dark World
Empire Strikes Back-To quote Scream 2 "not a sequel, part of a planned trilogy." It is a great movie.
Shrek 2
MoviesNGames007uk It actually is though
What are you ?10 ?
twomindz79 the kids who liked shrek are now 25
God no. The first one was better. More adult, and the characters were still original. Shrek 2 was fun, but no real character development and some of the new characters didn't live up to the ones in the first.
Kristian Severens they look the same to me.
I don't agree Blade 2 was better than the first but here are some sequels I think are worth mentioning:
Shrek 2
Aliens
Mission Impossible 2
Desperado
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
The first back to the future was the best one.
The spiderman green goblin outfit was not silly, you're insane.
It kind of was
T2 is better than The Terminator? This is a bad joke, right? It's just the first step down to the abysmal third film. After they got a serious budget, they said, "Who needs a good story, we'll let the special effects carry it. "
Beverly Hills Cop 2, I enjoy that more than the first but no way is Back to the Future 2 is better than the first!
Frank S I liked Evil Dead 3 Army of Darkness than the first 2.
Finally someone on here points that out. The 1st manages to be scary and funny at the same time which is difficult to pull off. The second is just funny. Still love both of them.
Evil Dead 2 is what Sam Rami originally wanted the Evil Dead to be..but didn't have the budget. It's a remake
Captain America the winter soldier is on this list.
I'M CALLING IT NOW
CALLED IT BOIIISSS
Sorry if this has been said before but HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK should definitely have been on this list!!!
I’d love to argue the back to the future one but I love them all so much it feels wrong to put any of them above the other
Paddington 2!
Anyone?
No?
Ok...
Alfie Davies it hasn’t even come out yet
Alfie Davies Paddington 2 actually was awesome such a nice film
Red 7 standing by The movie already came out where they live.
Red 7 standing by it is out i seen it
I agree
Lethal Weapon 2 improves on the first in every way.
And Alien is a masterpiece of horror. Aliens is a masterpiece of action.
andy serkis is an acting god
Wrong... Morgan Freeman is god
errantcoyote05
Samuel L. Jackson > Morgan Freeman.
lmfaoo
I honestly think the Acadamy should add a "Best Motion Capture Performance award".
I mean seriously the Apes movies alone should be enough for him to win every year.
Israel P I see you're referring to God and Jesus. Perfect !
I disagree with most of the ones you listed but cool video!
Debbie Does Dallas 2 far outclassed the original
I actually like the way the Green Goblin looked most of the time villains dont look the way they did in comic books and it is disappointing I wish more villians had there comic book costumes just bc it's not meant to be real it's meant to be fun which is why I think they did a good job with the Green Goblin
Yeah because he can't really just switch between Norman and Goblin if it was comic book accurate
I agree with Dan Elgaard: Aliens was way better than Alien.
I could actually keep my eyes open through all of Aliens. Not so much with Alien.
You left one out, Aliens. In my mind, as good as the 1st and had wonderful reviews, which is hard for sci fi horror flicks.
Yes, the first one was so dark you could hardly see the alien. The 2nd one (Aliens) was great!
What is the movie shown at the very beginning with the living hand? I thought it was evil dead at first but I'm pretty sure it's a completely different movie I saw as a kid that I've been trying to find for years.
Adam's Family
*the first time i watched Evil Dead 2 and Ash said "Groovy"*
*SQUEALS OF JOY*
*the hundredth time i've watched Evil Dead 2 and Ash said "Groovy"*
*ALSO SQUEALS OF JOY*
Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows was a bangin' ass sequel
I've never heard any critics or fans declare back to the future 2 is better than back to the future
i actually like a new hope better than empire...but hey, that's just me
Personally I've seen Return of the Jedi roughly 3 times for every one time of watching New Hope or Empire
Dude, the first blade is the best out of them all. It was an instant classic!
I agree with every Single One Movie in this List - except The Dark Night... I like Batman Begins more than this sequel. but great List Dudes! In my opinion following movies are better in their sequels: First Blood II, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Rush Hour 2, The Amazing Spider Man 2
Where is The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers??
To be fair, LOTR are not three movies, but a 12 hours long movie, divided in three parts. Just because there is a sequence, it does not mean that there is a sequel. It is one indivisible story.
@@radamanthium if that's the case then why is the Godfather 2 on this list? Thats definitely "one divisible story" lol
Aliens. Pirates of Caribbean Dead Mans Chest also
💪💪💪💪💪
Matrix .. only the original was good, all the other ones were just .. overdoing it. Matrix was perfect.
One reason why I love star wars is because it's all about action instead of family and relationship drama
I agree.
I severely hope your kidding lmao......
Nothing against the first movie but Taken 2 had tighter pacing and better action and deserves to be on the list and it is the only movie in the series where the viewer genuinely fears for the welfare of Bryan Mills not just his family.
Best entry in the trilogy!
