When my son left home 18 years ago to go to university I would come home from work, run a bath, climb in and sob. For a whole month. He was just here for a holiday with his girlfriend and when they left on Tuesday I had a stone in my heart. I brought him up to be independent and live his own life but I still hurt. I was a single parent for his first 16 years so I think that added to the pain if you see what I mean. Just me and him all those years.
Such a fine line we walk as parents when our kids leave. I felt a lot of excitement for my son when he left home but I also felt apprehensive and almost like I was losing a piece of my identity. I can’t imagine three leaving at the same time! Talk about ripping off the sticky bandaid! This will be an exciting time for you, too!
Bittersweet times...there has not been a time when I wasn't sad to see my daughter go back to school and wasn't glad to have her back home. She is settling in with her hubby far away...and still she calls every day. ❤️ You are not alone!
When my older son when to college, he wanted to go up north and we drove him and his younger brother to Maryland from Florida. I felt broken hearted but since I had cried all summer held it together. However, his little brother was only two. He had not really understood brother was staying. He cried almost nonstop all the way home. It can be so hard to have them leave. I can’t imagine three at the same time.
Eating and buying to sooth the soul……. And those kids are not gone for ever. I know it will be different but not necessarily bad. A new season of life and embracing each one for the joy it can bring while still honoring the past. I am excited for the girls and for you and Jason
Congratulations on launching your kids into the world! Yes, it is sad, but also exciting. You’ve done a good job, mom! Time to start a new phase of your life!
The same week I sent my daughter off to her first year in college and my son to his junior year my husband left me as well.. BOY... was that a sad, sad time!! I wandered from one bedroom to another holding individual personal items just sobbing! As it turned out after a long time that time turned out to be such a blessing for me.. I had my youngest daughter in a Christian private school .. I needed to work so I worked for the school.. and through that time all 3 of my kids found their salvation and my faith grew as well.. I found a new career and learned how great each of the kids were in their chosen paths in life.. and how strong I was .. through my faith and focus. As I look back on that time I realize it was a blessed time!!
I thought nothing could be harder than putting my baby on that giant school bus and send her off into the world without me. Then she grew up and moved out. Several years later, she got married to a wonderful man. Turns out that when it comes to your kids, your heart can and will break many, many times, sometimes even while you are smothered in happiness for her. It's so easy to forget when they're small and driving you crazy that you should savor even those moments, because you will spend the rest of your life saying goodbye to them in one form or another. (Hugs) to every single mother or father who knows exactly what I'm saying.
I know so may people taking their kids off to school for the first time…my heart goes out to you ! ❤Growing up I learned to shop and cook for eight people, and it took me years to learn to scale back. When I got my first apartment I bought a gallon of milk, 5 pound bag of potatoes, and all kinds of family size food…I had a lot of leftovers🤣!!
I was a single mom and I cried all the way home after moving my only kid into the dorms. It got better. First year was the roughest. Now he's graduated and living with friends and working, so no complaints! He's a great young adult and lives close enough that I can see him from time to time, even if just to go to the library and Crumbl cookie! I also have time to try new things or revisit things I once did for fun! Also, I saw the stained glass kits at Michaels and they have many designs - looks like fun! I may pick one up as well - thanks for the info!
Loving your hair cut Lindsay, really pretty. A new chapter for you and Jason and of course the girls. It's amazing how time flies by and suddenly they are all grown up. Loving sat chat Hun and have a great week xxxxx
Hi Lindsay💐 Big hugs and well wishes to you and Jason with these necessary, but often painful changes! It sounds like you both are great people and fantastic parents!!!! Your kids will always love and need you both, no matter what, and you'll still have lots of fun times together!!! Lindsay, I want to thank you for keeping me company with your sincere, knowledgeable, friendly, and interesting videos through some of my own trying times. Whether you know it or not, you mean a lot to a LOT of people who are sending love, caring, and distant hugs to you and your family!!! Thank you for all that you do and for just being you!!! Love, blessings, good wishes, and hugs from me, Susan, in Southern California 💖 🎨💜🌈🐾🌞🌻🖼💙🌲🤗
Painting and listening. Love. Ok you crack me up by breaking into the Jefferson’s theme. Lol. Enjoy the empty nest and nurturing your friendships. It’s also a sweet time in life. Ok once I was out for a run with my dog and before we got out of our yard he took off. When he came back we continued our run and i didn’t notice until we got home a row of quills on his face! I think he ran with them the whole time!
Great Sat Chat. Don't worry, the kids will be back sooner than you think. Enjoy leaving the bathroom door open, less laundry and not cooking if you don't feel like it. Then it will be an adjustment when they are home! It's now time for you & Jason to focus on yourselves & your health. I can't wait for my brushes to arrive & the pastel videos.
Hugs to you, Lindsay, and other college mamas! My oldest just moved out with his girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and started college this week. It is rough. ❤️
Lindsay, in case no one else mentioned this: you are SO FUNNY! You nearly whispered what you were thinking about buying for your Mom, as though she was in the other room! You're the best.
My daughter is starting her first day of school on Monday. She's all ready with her new backpack and headphones and pencase. She can't wait! Different times for us kidwise, but still big changes! Have a good week. 🧡

Oh Lindsay, I feel for you! The last of my 6 children moved out recently. I was depressed for a couple of weeks. I’ve been raising children for 43 1/2years. Much longer than my family and friends, because I have 22 1/2 years between the 1st and last. It was so hard to see the last one go, especially because my husband travels for work. It’s so lonely being by yourself after having kids and/or husband around for so long. He’ll be retiring in a couple of years, though. You’ll get to relearn who you married and at least your kids aren’t far away. It will never be the same, though, that’s the sad part. Those were precious years! Dig into your artwork, it’s been very cathartic for me. Blessings!
Hi, Lindsay. I received the brushes this week and the packaging is gorgeous along with the brushes! I will be putting them to good use. Thanks for all the hard work it took to create them from looks to functionality. All of your children leaving at once is truly a transition. You'll come to appreciate the quiet and quality time spent with hubby. You gave them "roots," and now their "wings." Good job, mom. ❤
My son - my Jason, to be precise - lived at home for college, as his field of study was best served by doing so. But two years ago, at age 45, he and his wife upped stakes, sold their house and moved to Colorado, just before lockdown. We went from seeing Jason nearly every week to not seeing either of them for nearly a year. That was rough, despite their very grown-up ages! A few weeks ago, I got one of Tim Holtz's/Sizzix new die sets. I didn't play with it for a bit, as I had several things going already and wanted to just have time to play when I tried them. It's the set where you stamp the dies and cut "avery" style labels of various sizes and shapes and, oh my I love them! I cut a set each from white and kraft card stock, and then I cut four sets from sticker paper, using various colors on each. What fun! Way easier than stamping and lining up dies or cutting by hand. The inking isn't super-dark but they look very vintage. Love 'em. I only purchased one set of stamps from his very latest release, which was Halloween, which I don't "do". But there was a set with a big floral spray and a large label that was very pretty so I pre-ordered those from Only One Life Creations and look forward to those. And then last night after watching two of my favorite TH-camrs talking about Cathe Holden's latest fabric release, (and we won't even discuss that she recently partnered with Sizzix and has stamps and paper and die-cuts!!) I succumbed and ordered some pieces from her upcoming "Journaling" line. I got the charm pack and a couple of fat quarters. Oh, and Ranger had some stuff on sale, too, and I spent $22 there. I did wait until our property taxes were paid before I shopped, though! ;-)
@@thefrugalcrafter Our property tax is due Sept 1-Oct 30 - face value. But if you pay before Sept 1, you get a decent discount, so the "real" due date is Aug. 31. My husband can't stand to wait to pay them until the end of the month - it's not like we're getting any real interest these days. My father always went on the principle that if someone was going to get interest on a thousand bucks, it was going to be him! :)
I love your hair cut and the dream catcher earrings! I check the mailbox after you mentioned people receiving your brushes and hurray! Happy day! Mine arrived this morning! I'm looking forward to how to use the dagger brush! Poor Penny! Glad she’s okay and learned all her doggy lessons! LOL ended this Sat Chat with a good laugh. 🤣🤣🤣 Laundry saved the day? 🤣🤣🤣
Not a parent - and at 75 it ain't likely - but I can sense what it must be like. But it sounds like your family is really tight, so you can look forward to many years of terrific reunions. I just got my brushes in the mail right before I watched Sat Chat. What a loverly presentation - very classy. Congrats!
I can honestly say I know kind of know how you feel - my oldest left at 17 yr old for mountains about 4 hr away. I could hardly stand missing him so much but he got a job and apt and drove home many week ends. 3 yr later Middle child went one way to college and flight school and we moved to other mountains and ended up divorced but a daughter left 3 yr after that to college a whole state away. Hard years - I moved closer to her and amazing how 6 years can change lives. I’m a little envious of you Lindsay for being able to stay grounded and a reliable foundation for the rest of the family. I love my life (82 yr old) now 40 yrs later - but now oldest kid is back living with me at 60 yr old and it is not the same! Haha. I could stand the moving out now.
Rats! I gave my pastels to my daughter. I didn't use them enough to " like" them. I'm now in Christmas card making mode, so any tutorials for that would be great. But, of course I watch them all! Great Sat Chat. I won't comment on the empty nest except to say "you got this." One child left in 03, one in 06 and my wife passed in 07. I've gone through empty nest throughly. But " I've got this!" Bless you all!
Ahh, the seasons of life. Trust me, your sadness will turn to the fun anticipation of the holiday homecoming when you prepare the house and cupboards with all the nostalgic favorites. It’s a joyous reunion and then after a few days of spoiling them to the core you will find yourself asking “when are you going back?” 😂
Lindsay, you look absolutely gorgeous! Love your new hair cut, love your earrings, love your polka dot head band and love your beautiful sea glass necklace. Embrace this new passage in your life and be so proud of having raised your fledglings and given them their wings to fly. You bring such joy to all of us. Hopefully, you know that we are all here for you. 🤗🥰🙏 PS: I am sitting on the edge of my seat, anxiously awaiting the delivery of my new paint brushes!
Hey sweetie…your gorgeous brushes arrived yesterday! I waited for tonight to wash them and try a painting…put on your SatChat to listen while I played…first I used your flat wash…must be some magic in these brushes…just painted the most beautiful sky I’ve ever done! Not kidding! Letting my first layer dry and just thought I should drop a comment to let you know. Thank you for being such a perfectionist in the creation of these…❤️🐝
I did buy the Mijello pure pigment set. I already had a set of the Mijello paints, not pure pigment, and put them all together in their 50-well studio folding palette. Filled up all the wells, as well as 3 of the little corner triangles with the black, white, and green gold. Between the sets, there were 2 different yellow ochres, and 2 different ultramarine blues, but I put them both in...at least they are most-used colors. Not sure if I will like ochre 1 versus ochre 2. Nice to have them all together to play with. I was shocked to see how expensive the 34 pure pigment set versus the 24 set, definitely felt like clearance sale. Thanks!
You will always be Mom. Right now, you will just be a Mom with less laundry, dishes and showering noises :) I’m sitting here watching and also laughing, our kitten is ENTHRALLED with you this morning and can’t take her eyes off you 😆
Lindsay, just wanted to give you another perspective on the empty nest sadness. Those with disabled kids who are unlikely ever to be able to spread their wings and fly look at the emptyings of the nests of others with a special kind of sadness. You are a wonderful person, an inspiration to so many, a great help to others. Just thought it might help you now to think about the sadness you feel now from this point of view. Sending you all good wishes for a new era with greater freedom and infinite possibilities. Thanks for everything you do!
Hope Penny is recovering from her porcupine encounter. You had a crazy busy week. I vote you buy that set you wanted. It's not September yet. It's fun to see the colors in person. The computer never shows the true beauty of anything. Your paintings always look nice, but the photos you take make them shine. Hope the girls are having fun at college.
My mom made it through the college years then a few years after graduation I got a job over 900 miles away. It was great for my career but sad because it was so far away. My mom never told me not to go even though I know she misses having me so close. Coming from the other perspective, having a supportive parent is so important and appreciated. We miss y’all too ❤️
Just know your kids are going to do great...just look at their mama!!!❤ Your beautiful brushes just arrived!!! Oh my they are breathtaking and I can't wait to paint with them. Congratulations all around!!!
Big hugs Lindsay 🤗 I promise you'll grow used to the peace and quiet. My eldest daughter moved into shared housing for University at 17 and my twins 3 years later. Initially it was a major adjustment since it came at the same time I separated from my ex husband when my eldest moved out. Now I absolutely enjoy my peace and quiet. Also, ... you are a bad influence 😂I paused your video to go "browse" on Amazon AU and have placed so many items in my cart 😂🤦♀I should go to bed.
Hi Lindsay! I wanted to let you know I got your paintbrushes and I LOVE them! They're beautiful and they work so well! I also got to go to a Jerry's Artarama yesterday and it was so fun! It's like a Disneyland of art supplies and I was in heaven! I got some Dr. Ph Martin's Radiant Concentrated Watercolor(liquid), 10 sheets of handmade paper and a pad of paper especially for the liquid watercolors. The selection was almost overwhelming. They were running a 20% off if you used your vip card, which I signed up for on the spot. I plan on going back next time I visit my college student in Raleigh. Have a great week!
Sending you big hugs! My 'kids' are 26 and 28 now. My husband and I have survived transitions through the college years, the study abroad years, the teaching abroad years and, just this month, sending my youngest (from the US) to Uganda to serve with the Peace Corps. It never, ever gets easier. I love them so much, love being with them so much, miss them so much and weep every time I say goodbye. But, you know what, they are very capable adults now with all kinds of things going on in their lives. Here's the thing - you'll adapt to your new normal and you'll find surprising new adventures of your own. I promise. They were, just about, my whole world. I took a hiatus from making art for decades and didn't begin again in earnest until they'd launched. You need to know your videos, your kind heart, your fantastic tips and reviews all helped me through that. My best advice to you and Jason: Be gentle with yourselves. Cry when you need to cry. Okay, yes, health journeys are important. But have a cocktail. Treat yourself to a fancy coffee. Binge watch whatever. You've spent endless hours loving and raising your kids with patience and pivoting. Allow the same for yourselves! ♥️
WOW!, Ive loved and appreciated your channel for years because your so refreshing, down to earth and I relate to you in so many ways, although my pain from my disability has limited a lot of my once very active crafting...I still do some colouring in books etc However recently my second daughter just left home and I'm now so lost without her so I unearthed All my old supplies and have turned her bedroom into my craft room to try restart my hobby, I clicked on some of your older videos for inspiration and was So inspired I wanted to leave you. Big " THANK-YOU" as it's been really a blessing these past few days rediscovering " my creative self", I then just found this latest video and see you're now an empty nester too?..So My Love And Prayers are with you xxx Sarah 💖
It is sad when your babies grow up and move out, i got tears listening to you talk about yours.. At least they are still in Maine.. Yay!! I make robes too and when i made my first one years ago the pocket was way too low, I made it for monkey arms.. lol OH I did get my brushes they are awesome!! Love what your son said.. Thank you
Everytime you hear you talk about your girls going to college I think about my daughter (only child) going in a few more years and I want to cry!! Good job keeping it together best you can!
My Mom celebrated her 89th birthday yesterday, and my niece and her hubby came over with all the fixings for a pizza party which was great and yummy! With an empty house, you can do ANYTHING you want!!!! So do your thing girl!!!
Just keep being the same awesome mom your kids know and love, and everything will be fine. It sounds like you and Jason will be taking time for just the two of you to focus on each other, your health and wellbeing which I think is a great idea. The day-to-day hard work of raising your kids is over, so it's time to sit back, relax and watch them learn from their mistakes as they grow into the wonderful adults they will become. Good job, mom and dad!
LOL, too funny, wild and crazy people. I like to batch cook as well, makes the busy week so much easier when you don't have to think about what to cook for dinner and then spend the time cooking it. Yes it will take you guys some time to get use to the new normal, but you buys will find new things to keep yourselves busy. Looking forward to pastel month. OMG I've had to stay off of amazon as well because I have more stuff now than I have room for. Oh I don't think I will be able to use up all the supplies I have before I die. I hope you have a great week Lindsay.
It was 2008 our youngest had graduated from High School, he was going to go off to college in mid-August, my husband was still Active Duty Air Force and we had orders to go to Spangdahlem Germany, so he had to go and stay with his best friend, his mom took him to his school. Not only did I feel guilty and like we had abandoned him and our other children, we have 4, two were done with college and another was still in, I cried on and off for two weeks. Then I had to get into the mode of moving on, our poor Dachshund, kept climbing into our laundry baskets as other dog had died just before we left. It was a very hard time! So everyone has a hard time but as that time passes you find yourself getting on and then you cry less and less and life goes on so to say! You will do well and I learn so much from your lessons and I look forward to those that are coming! Have a wonderful weekend!
So happy for your kids. It is an exciting time and they will have many great experiences. I am away right now and the brushes arrived in Canada in record time. Excited to try them when I get home. Have a great weekend Lindsay.
"Everyone welcome!" That's why we love you and keep coming back! Don't worry, once you get used to it, you'll come to enjoy the silence. However, they Always have, and come back to do, laundry! 😄🤣😄🤣
Hi Lindsey from the UK, I suffered with empty nest syndrome for quite a while, being a divorcee didn't help, but as you are planning on keeping busy is the best treatment 😀, it comes to us all unfortunately but all will be good intime. 👍 sending hugs xx
My son just started at the local college, still living at home but it’s still hard for me. We have to step back so much and let them “ don’t the talking” when issues come up. It’s been a tough week here with adjustments. I appreciate my parents even more thinking about how they went through the same. I am not looking forward to the time when he transfers and moves out. It’s tough. Glad you are feeling more uplifted.
I feel your pain Lindsay! My husband and I have three daughters (four years apart). We went through it, stilling going through it and will be going through it next year with our youngest. You seem like an extremely close and loving family. I am sure that your young adults will miss home and always appreciate the comforts of home! Our two oldest came home this weekend and commented that they needed to decompress and were so happy just to be home, even for a short time. I think that it refuels them! :-)
Bathrobes are a great idea! Have been thinking of you this week! My son is in university, but still at home since his school is in town. We do the same thing and encourage him to make phone calls or figure things out on his own, as if he were “away”. I want to make a “starter” cookbook for him with some of his favourite meals, where I take lots of photos and write really detailed instructions with the intention of making a Shutterfly (or similar) album. That is my project for the year whenever I’m cooking something easy that he loves… that will be his moving out “gift”. I should also include some quotes from his dad or something so it’s more of a family gift. Hmmm, should also ask his grandmother to take pictures of a meal she makes for him. Need to figure out more details! Sorry, this comment got derailed into a “me” thing…
My oldest son left 2 days ago for his second senior college year (thank you Covid in education) and we drive our youngest one today. Even though we experienced full empty nest last year, it feels sad all over again. Funny you talked about cutting fabric and needing a big space to do so. We just spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for a sturdy large table for my son’s studio apartment because he is a fashion major. One thing I won’t miss is sewing equipment, fabric and thread all over my living room. Lol. Take care and I’ll join you in no spend September!
I got my Lindsay paint brush set .. the packaging is gorgeous and I can't wait for your dagger brush tutorial! I'm stoked! Good luck on your health commitments. You do not look overweight at all.
My three left at the same time. Funny, because the older two are 7 and 4 years older than the baby. The youngest is at a college 10 hours away. My husband was more emotional than I, but I did miss all of them. Now the middle kid is back at home. So empty nests don't stay empty! As always- enjoyed the chat.
My brushes are coming today. I can’t wait! Again, just love you and my Saturday mornings. I was not blessed with the ability to have children myself, but I have three sisters and many friends and so I can empathize with you completely. It must be like a big I love you so much - ouch - miss your presence pain. I already have your pastels class (No I haven’t started 😝, so I am really looking forward to Pastel September. And lastly, we are also on an ‘austerity’ program (as my dad used to say alllll the time - ha) for the next month. Going on a big trip in April of 2023 and plane tickets, etc., plus life, took us to our limit for now. :D.
Mother had a cover for it so we could iron the fabric and easier to iron the seems. My oldest sister fits your description about getting the fabric and the project was done🤣 I learned my love of sewing from my mother, not my sister 😉. I could make a new outfit starting on Thursday and wear it on my Friday night date. I’m thinking 🤔 I may need to dust off my sewing machine….🫣Oh no! I feel a 🧵🪡fever 🤒 coming on! Having an empty nest is like going back in time before children except you two have more time and means to just enjoy each other’s company without the worry of newlyweds. Have a grand time! Fran
Thank goodness for texting! I can text each of my daughters every day even if it's just a heart emoji to let them know I am thinking about them, They can respond whenever they have a few minutes. It doesn't feel like an intrusion on their time and they know they are on my mind. The feeling of no schedules and a bit of freedom swings back and forth to the sad missing them phases....but we can visit and we can message. Be strong! but don't hesitate to wallow a bit too. A job well done means they head into a new chapter confident and excited!
What a bittersweet, yet exciting time for your family. It sounds like you've gave you children a good foundation over the years and they are off to a great start! On another note, I was watching another video and these pencils, Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black Carbon Blend pencils caught my eye. I wonder if they are similar to the ones you mentioned today. Looking forward to see how they work out for you.
I hope your daughters have a great first year in university! My daughter starts kindergarten this year and I'm going back to school now that I have my daytime back on the weekdays.
Ordered the brushes and just got them yesterday. Watching today while cleaning craft room so that I can take them out of the package and begin using them. Can't wait. The boxing is beautiful and the brushes are so pretty and such a good buy. Will put a review up once I actually use them.
Primal squat on the floor...oh girl no one can make me laugh in the first hour after waking you deserve an award! 🤣🤣🤣 only a quarter through sat chat..
Hi Lindsay, thanks again for a great chat. The last of my 4 college age grandkids are leaving today. So excited for them and it’s a joy to watch them grow. Still have 6 waiting in the wings, LOL, so I guess I won’t be lonely. I am looking forward to watching your pastel work. Something I never mastered. I got your brushes this week, and am just loving the look and feel of them. I am intrigued with the cat tongue snd have never used one. Should be fun. Hang in there! Would be interested to try those pencils you mentioned. Thanks for all you do for us !
According to USPS my brushes will arrive today. Can't wait! Looking forward to you showing the best way to use your brushes. This will be an exciting time for you and Jason and the kids spreading their wings. Be proud of them and enjoy their accomplishments.
Yes it hurts and it sad when they start leaving home, at the same time you are excited for them as they are starting a new chapter in the lives! They will be home to visit Mama! You and Jason will have time to spend together enjoy girl yes of cores you will miss them Lindsay! Blessings to you both and to your Son and Daughter's!! Hugs Liz x
Thank you for Sat Chat! It is so real! I think many of us have similar feelings about the topics you discussed! I really laughed out loud about the paint app! I feel sure I have more paint than years left in my life!😂
Well I have been thru empty nest x 4. Holidays are magical but be aware they might not want to hang much with you - all the friends get priority. We raise them to be happy productive adults - but girl it is not easy. You have amazing girls now you just have to trust them.
Ooh, non-shiny graphite??? That sounds amazing! I’m not lit up for filming, but I do find that the overhead light reflects enough to mess with my perception of values. I’ll be very interested to hear how you like them. Good idea to mail the robes when they’re done! I always loved getting packages from home when I was in college. I hope Lila’s move in day went smoothly. I’m doing nothing this weekend, and after 2.5 weeks of activity, I couldn’t be happier to have a day where I don’t have to change out of my pjs if I don’t want to!
Quick story about my first child going to college. (Not child, young man). My husband and I followed him about 2 hours south of home. The week before was went, I cried every time I looked at him. Did well when we got him moved in, I stayed so strong. He wanted to go a week early so he could make friends,. We have friends living in the same city so we stopped and visited for a couple of hours. We drove home, pulled into the driveway, and guess whose car was in driveway? Our son had gotten homesick because his roommate wasn’t coming until the next week. He beat us back home. That was just first of three of our children leaving home. That was 30 years ago. Hope your empty nesting is going well. Alabama
Hullo Lindsay, I wish you strength and happiness during this exciting/trying time. I have created stained glass windows and it get expensive very fast! I had glass blowing classes in college and when we emptied the glass kiln to change colors or recipes, we used a sheet roller so I took these sheets of glass for slumping projects and found they worked great for stained glass panels! Nobody else wanted them so the instructor was giving them away so they did not have to store them. You can remelt any glass but adding more ash or component chemicals to make it a reliable solid after it cools is easier when starting from scratch. Remelts are so difficult, I remember when the administration wanted to switch to all reclaimed glass, like pop bottles! That glass was stringy and unstable, it would crack even after 24 hours in an annealing oven! That’s an oven you put glass in to let it slow cool so it does not crack or burst into pieces when you touch it or set it down! Well this has gone on long enough, A wonderful Sat Chat, glad you’re hanging in there. Be well!
Brushes are here, going to play in just a bit! Poor Penny, I hope she has learned to give the critters a wide berth. The kids have launched, big adjustments for you and Jason. And you are right, adjusting your grocery shopping is really hard. Sending you hugs. I think you will really like the Matte Graphite, it’s really fun.
Oh Lindsay, know the feeling all too well. My twins left home 18years ago, and still have my moments lol. I've just had one back at home recuperating after an op for 2 weeks and she packed up to head home today, and again the empty, hollow feel of the house just seems so overwhelming! It takes getting used to that's for certain. But luckily we do adapt and life goes on! Have a great week, keep busy and before you know it, life without them at home will be completely 'normal '😁😘💕
I love my brushes! I haven't used them yet bc I'm in the midst of Christmas crafting, but when I got them, I spent a good amount of time just looking at the gorgeous box! It was my first close up look at one of your paintings and it's amazing!
Pastel September sounds fantastic. I purchased the beginner pastel class a while back during a sale but haven't started the projects yet. Sounds like a good time to start. Looking forward to it.
No one tells us the hardest part of being a mom is when our kids grow up. ❤️ Don't worry. They will be back to do laundry, raid the fridge and get hugs. 🙂 I need to join you on the whole foods September project. Between all the eating out in Maine and sweets here with my mother-in-law, I'm in desperate need of some clean eating habits...I'm hoping to find my brushes in the mailbox when I get home tomorrow. I can't wait to try them out along with your tutorials!
It was so good to see you last week! Please join me! I batched up some food yesterday. We dont have any junk in the house and we are going to cook what we have 😆
I received my brushes today! They are absolutely exquisite! I’m so excited to start using them! Now, to decide which paint to use with them first! Lol!
Hi Lindsay! I know change is hard. You are such a devoted and wonderful mom, and you've raised such well rounded, grounded children. But...as someone without kids, I can say that there are advantages to only having two people in the house that you will soon discover. Also....I can't wait for pastel month!!! Hooray!!!
Love that black mixed media paper! I have used the blue (been out for a few years). I really like that for colored pencil and pastels. Landscape and florals really benefit from the blue. I will have to put the green on my want list.
You’re a great mom, Lindsay! I can’t wait to see the robes, those are gonna be welcomed and cherished❤️The stained glass will be fun! I’m sorry the doggy had a run in with a pokey critter but glad all is well, Yay, Jason! Love your Sat chats- keep shining.
Big hugs ❤
Such a fine line we walk as parents when our kids leave. I felt a lot of excitement for my son when he left home but I also felt apprehensive and almost like I was losing a piece of my identity. I can’t imagine three leaving at the same time! Talk about ripping off the sticky bandaid! This will be an exciting time for you, too!
Bittersweet times...there has not been a time when I wasn't sad to see my daughter go back to school and wasn't glad to have her back home. She is settling in with her hubby far away...and still she calls every day. ❤️ You are not alone!
❤
Thank you!
Congratulations on launching your kids into the world! Yes, it is sad, but also exciting. You’ve done a good job, mom! Time to start a new phase of your life!
Your doin great and your kids are not too far away . Painted this morning with your brushes , I love them .
Yay!
What an amazing story!
It’s so difficult when they leave home. You are a wonderful Mom and have given them great values! 💜💜💜
Loving your hair cut Lindsay, really pretty. A new chapter for you and Jason and of course the girls. It's amazing how time flies by and suddenly they are all grown up. Loving sat chat Hun and have a great week xxxxx
Thank you!
Hi Lindsay💐
Big hugs and well wishes to you and Jason with these necessary, but often painful changes!
Aww, thank you Susan:)
Aww, sweet dog:)
Art is your job and we like to watch you try out the products. Don’t feel guilty!
Hugs to you, Lindsay, and other college mamas! My oldest just moved out with his girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and started college this week. It is rough. ❤️
I was the last kid to leave my parents' house. They pretty immediately turned my old bedroom into a craft room. I felt honoured ^_^
😆
Lindsay, in case no one else mentioned this: you are SO FUNNY! You nearly whispered what you were thinking about buying for your Mom, as though she was in the other room! You're the best.
😆
My daughter is starting her first day of school on Monday. She's all ready with her new backpack and headphones and pencase. She can't wait! Different times for us kidwise, but still big changes! Have a good week. 🧡
Brushes arrived .... oh how beautiful they are!! :) Looking forward to painting with you, with the brushes.
Thank you!

Congrats!
Blessings!
“End of an era” so true!
Thank you!
I did wait until our property taxes were paid before I shopped, though! ;-)
Sounds like you got great stuff! That reminds me my property taxes are due in a couple weeks!
Thank you!
Not a parent - and at 75 it ain't likely - but I can sense what it must be like. But it sounds like your family is really tight, so you can look forward to many years of terrific reunions. I just got my brushes in the mail right before I watched Sat Chat. What a loverly presentation - very classy. Congrats!
Awesome, thank you!
😆
Thanks ❤
Ahh, the seasons of life. Trust me, your sadness will turn to the fun anticipation of the holiday homecoming when you prepare the house and cupboards with all the nostalgic favorites. It’s a joyous reunion and then after a few days of spoiling them to the core you will find yourself asking “when are you going back?” 😂
😆
Love your energy. Always enjoy your videos.
I appreciate your effort to bring us sat chat. Thanks😄👍hope you have a fun weekend
PS: I am sitting on the edge of my seat, anxiously awaiting the delivery of my new paint brushes!
Thank you:)
Thank you for being such a perfectionist in the creation of these…❤️🐝
Oh my gosh! I am so pleased to hear that!
Thanks!
Love catching up with you and your family!
You will always be Mom. Right now, you will just be a Mom with less laundry, dishes and showering noises :)
I’m sitting here watching and also laughing, our kitten is ENTHRALLED with you this morning and can’t take her eyes off you 😆
Aww:)
Yes always mom! The dishes and their piles of laundry come with them when they visit! Haha! But, I Always love to see them!
Thank you, I have thought of that an am so grateful that they are healthy, capable kids who want to go forth into the world. ❤
We miss y’all too ❤️
Used your wonderful brushes last week. They are wonderful! Great points and good water holding!
Yay! Thanks so much!
Just know your kids are going to do great...just look at their mama!!!❤ Your beautiful brushes just arrived!!! Oh my they are breathtaking and I can't wait to paint with them. Congratulations all around!!!
Awesome! Thanks!
Woohoo!
You are such a wonderful mom! Bless you!
Awww, thank you:)
Anothers fun video. Thank you
WOW!, Ive loved and appreciated your channel for years because your so refreshing, down to earth and I relate to you in so many ways, although my pain from my disability has limited a lot of my once very active crafting...I still do some colouring in books etc
However recently my second daughter just left home and I'm now so lost without her so I unearthed All my old supplies and have turned her bedroom into my craft room to try restart my hobby, I clicked on some of your older videos for inspiration and was So inspired I wanted to leave you. Big " THANK-YOU" as it's been really a blessing these past few days rediscovering " my creative self", I then just found this latest video and see you're now an empty nester too?..So My Love And Prayers are with you xxx Sarah 💖
Aww, thank you:)
Thank you
😆 I was carful to mark the pockets from the pattern with chalk on the fabric so they were ok:)
OH yeah I marked it too very carefully in the wrong spot!! LOL
Oh I marked them with chalk too but not in the right place.. LOL 🙃
Everytime you hear you talk about your girls going to college I think about my daughter (only child) going in a few more years and I want to cry!! Good job keeping it together best you can!
You will get through it:) im sad but also very happy and excited for them:)
My Mom celebrated her 89th birthday yesterday, and my niece and her hubby came over with all the fixings for a pizza party which was great and yummy! With an empty house, you can do ANYTHING you want!!!! So do your thing girl!!!
Happy birthday to your mom!
It's a morbid thought, isn't it?
@@thefrugalcrafter yes but true.
How awful but you got through it. Strong momma!
So happy for your kids. It is an exciting time and they will have many great experiences. I am away right now and the brushes arrived in Canada in record time. Excited to try them when I get home. Have a great weekend Lindsay.
Yay!
Received the brushes yesterday and will be using them this week, they are beautiful and I love the box too.
Yay! Thanks!
"Everyone welcome!" That's why we love you and keep coming back! Don't worry, once you get used to it, you'll come to enjoy the silence. However, they Always have, and come back to do, laundry! 😄🤣😄🤣
You are hilarious! I love SatChat. Take care, big transitions, but in a good way.
Yup!
How funny is it that I look forward to my Lindsay ‘chat’ time with my coffee every Saturday morning.
Awww:) that means so much to me!
Awwww:)
Brushes arrived yesterday. I am looking forward to using them
Yay!
No spend September is a fantastic idea! I’ve been doing too much self-care this summer also!!
What a wonderful idea!
How exciting for him!
Saw horses and a solid core luan door might be a good surface for him to cut and lay out but too bouncy to sew on.
I got my Lindsay paint brush set
.. the packaging is gorgeous and I can't wait for your dagger brush tutorial! I'm stoked! Good luck on your health commitments. You do not look overweight at all.
Aww, thanks:)
So excited. I got my set of brushes yesterday. Can’t wait to use them.
Awesome!
Love it 😆
We were lucky, growing up, we had a ping pong table and it was the best work surface for cutting out patterns! Fran
I never thought to use the ping pong table!
Fran
always making me smile on Saturday..!!
I think they are similar but I don't think the Pitt matte pencils have carbon.
I hope your daughters have a great first year in university! My daughter starts kindergarten this year and I'm going back to school now that I have my daytime back on the weekdays.
The brushes are great and so pretty!!
Thanks!
Ordered the brushes and just got them yesterday. Watching today while cleaning craft room so that I can take them out of the package and begin using them. Can't wait. The boxing is beautiful and the brushes are so pretty and such a good buy. Will put a review up once I actually use them.
Thanks!

Thank you for Sat Chat! It is so real! I think many of us have similar feelings about the topics you discussed! I really laughed out loud about the paint app! I feel sure I have more paint than years left in my life!😂
I hate cooking, too. I empathize. 😂
Wishing the kiddos the best of luck with their first semester!
I am so excited about your brushes. My set is going to be delivered today (Saturday)! I can’t wait!
Yay!
Well I have been thru empty nest x 4. Holidays are magical but be aware they might not want to hang much with you - all the friends get priority. We raise them to be happy productive adults - but girl it is not easy. You have amazing girls now you just have to trust them.
I do:)
Be well!
Good morning. Wow! You FLOORED me when you gave me a call-out. Thank you so much!
What perfect timing! I hope some of our friends here chech out your patterns and new release!
Thanks!
Awww, thank you!
We dont have any junk in the house and we are going to cook what we have 😆
@@thefrugalcrafter I think I will. Because I've been traveling we don't have anything at home either. I'll start fresh tomorrow when I get back!
I received my brushes today! They are absolutely exquisite! I’m so excited to start using them! Now, to decide which paint to use with them first! Lol!
Thanks!
Im getting addicted to these sat chats! 😆 Btw, LOVE your dreamcatchers earrings! 🤩
Thanks! Lila got them for me for my birthday
