That´s why I believe that Cale is one of the greatest musicians of our times. His musical versitality is unmatched. And if you consider his influence in Rock compared to his fame, you get to the conclusion that he is possibly the most underrated artist arround these days! Seems to share the same fate as Van Gogh in his lifetime, with the talent and creativity of a Pablo Picasso.
I'm a huge Cale fan, and I agree he was/is massively influential. I contend that Hammill was/is of equal stature and has been name-checked by VERY heavy artists over the years. Perhaps his influence doesn't show up on the 'kultur" at large so much, but certainly on its practitioners. @@ForARide
Unmatched indeed - not only in versatility but also endurance . . . the only artist from that generation (that I can think of) who is still putting out creative, great music!
@@saschakah835 many thanks! To be honest I forgot I asked this question but the song brings back a lot of good memories. I haven't heard it in a while. I was blessed though to see John Cale live twice since then. Great memories too. Thanks again!
@oYoYebutu I do like to take the piss out of people who pretend to know about art ( I know fuck all about it, which is fine ) by saying "Picasso ? sure he couldn't even paint faces properly." and the look of disgust is priceless.

Er, got Peter Hammill?
Who?
I saw him live last month at Celebrate Brooklyn and his musicianship and range are so remarkable. I’ve been a fan since 1973. That’s 50 years…..
@@webkahmik Peter Hammill was noway near as influential as the Welsh Wizard.

Long Live John Cale !
Have this on DVD. Great. Not seen in quite a while. Great artists all.
Three fine people - people to be reckoned with
totally not someone you would expect to be such a good dad but clearly he is. lovely.

Yeah, save Hammill/VdGG, obviously.
A woefully under-appreciated musician, songwriter and performer in his own right -- so good to see him showcased with these younger talents!
True. Also, the fact is, Cale has done so much amazing things since the 60s, that it's hard to imagine that it was all the same guy.
Cave was a huge Velvet Underground fan in his youth, how amazing this experience must have been for him.
Love Chrissie's voice on this already excellent song.
just a talent unequeled... over the top for his writting and playing and arranging and words!
Always liked John Cale. He didn’t get the acclaim that Lou Reed had but has to this day remained persistant
Nick Cave on piano !!!! what a depth
such a good dad!
leather trousers 🤤😍
hell yes
@thespecter2 It's actually a Jonathan Richman song, though I agree that Cale's is the best version.
What’s a Jonathan Richman song?
@ForARide Couldn't agree more
sorry for asking stupid questions, but who's the dude on guitar sitting between Hynde and Cave?
Even it is a f***king long time to answer: it is Adam Seymour member of The Pretenders from the 90s on....

It's called 'not giving a fuck'.
Needs better strumming pattern. Sounds like a fucking camp fire.
Show us better then. This song is not about technical prowess anyway.
Sounds like you are a twat
