    My mechanic told me on my TDI that the gasket of the BOV does not work would that fix be easy if it only is the gasket or would the whole turbo need to be replaced I just got a Whole new one some months before.

    My car wasn't boosting correctly due to the gasket from the manifold to the turbo being blown in half. I fixed this yesterday and today took it for a hard short drive. It was boosting great. 1.5 bar and holding. But on my way back it was peaking at 1.5 and holding 1.0 bar. It shouldn't have any boost leaks either as my charge pipes are bevelled. Clamped and glued. So tomorrow its time to pull it all apart (again) 😭

    • @MAKResto
      @MAKResto ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t used gasket because on my stock turbo there was no gasket but on stock turbo it was making 0.7 bar but now its not making more than 0.2 is that the reason?

    Could a faulty PCM cause the turbo booster to go out?

  • @mersuman6395
    @mersuman6395 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey. I have such a problem that sometimes after faster acceleration at idle and at low revs, the boost pressure gauge shows negative pressures until I press the gas and the pressures rise again. This usually happens when the car is started when it is warm, never when the engine is cold. Where is the problem? I asked that for many people, and nobody knows what this problem is 😒

  • @UTPP
    @UTPP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a question which you might know the answer for. My Ranger turbo wasn't making boost, there was a fluttering noise coming from under the hood when accelerating. A mate said I needed a new turbo so I fitted a new one. The problem was still there. I then replaced the manifold air pressure sensor which fixed it about 80% when driving around town. As soon as I dive at a speed of 80/100kms is like there is a restrictor fitted to the accelerator. There is no power or boost when travelling at that speed. Occasionally there will be a surge and it takes off like a rocket, almost like a solenoid or wire starts working. Any suggestions?

    what is the difference between waste gate function, and blow off valve function, are they both have the same function which is getting rid of excessive pressurized air, and if they have the same function why to use two devices that have the same function?

    • @spelunkerd
      @spelunkerd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Waste gate is on the exhaust side, blow off valve is on the intake side.

    HELP!!! I have a 2011 Cooper S R56 N18, stock turbo, completely stock...my issue is, if I go into boost to fast, I get, what I think is, misfires. I let off throttle before the car goes into limp-mode, it runs normal again. Anybody have any clue what the issue is or could be?

    Does anyone have an idea why ( sometimes) if you kick my CRD C300 down or try and make a drag start, it goes into kangaroo mode bucking or jurcking up the road. Ideas, could it be the waist gate ,actuator or some other other reason. Anyone else had this problem, or engineers know of this issue ?

    Hey...my name is Estevan. Recently I got a 2021 Buick Encore GX. She just told me her check engine went turned on. She drove to the Auto zone in San Antonio. Where they told her it was her turbo. I'm not sure what they checked,or if they checked a code? She found out it's expensive and dealer part only. We should be covered as we have a out 6 000 miles factory warranty and and extended warranty as well. She was worried about driving car home/ work...she drives and hour round trip every day. I asked her if the car was struggling or anything like that. No it's driving ok. So can someone let me know. She'll have to run it to dealership tomorrow morning or after work. Thanks for a speedy reply!!?

      First do a boost Leak test .. And then check if faulty blow of valve or waste gate not open or shut properly

    My turbo doesn’t work anymore and I’m not sure how to diagnose it correctly. I have an atmospheric blow off valve so i know that when i hear that my turbo is working. As i was leaving my house i accelerated very quickly and fast and i heard a big pop as if something came loose or popped out, and now i don’t hear the BOV, i also get a really bad whistling noise when i rev past 5,000 RPM, Im not sure what it could be but maybe one of the hoses came out ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Putting turbos in economy cars has added a lot of unnecessary expense to owning a vehicle. Even if you change the oil religiously it will still have problems eventually, and if it's out of warranty the repair will be several thousand dollars which doesn't seem worth it just to get another ten miles per gallon. Manufacturers build these things to fail and on top of that recommend 5,000-mile oil change intervals which is a recipe for disaster considering the increased heat and blow by generated by direct injection. If you're gonna get a modern car, get one that's naturally aspirated and it will have way fewer problems in the long run.

      My first engine blew at 59K miles. It had suffering from LSPI by 20K miles and pistons has pre mature cracking from the factory. New engine from GM under power train warranty. Now car is at 86K miles and just installed a aftermarket catch can (waited for warranty to run out so didn't want to get flack from dealer before hand). Oil changes were done at 4.5-5K on the dot. 5W-30 full syn.
