This only changed an internal window to 9:16 but my screen capture remained 16:9 . The result when recording was a shrunken down 16:9 confined to a 9:16. Hard to visualize.
@@chasesommer It's very frustrating and didn't work. Don't understand what problem others had that it solved but a lot of us have a different similar OBS aspect ratio problem where we already tried the obvious step here and that wasn't working.
@@EmilyTalksAceStuffhey I was using OBS today. I had to grab my “video capture device” and go to settings of that device. Change to custom, and I forget after that but it will get you closer than this dude

Very often tutorials are not understanding that there may be confunsion abouit what actually is the question. A good tutorial should understand the ignorance of the viewer. Here finally found what i needed to 'crop' my output to my 'cropped' or resized window.
ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS! All aspect ratios are 16x9 in the drop down you suggest (but like a real bone head do not show) , What you suggest is only to select between resolutions of the 16x9 aspect
Hi, I just started using OBS today. I cannot seem to get the output aspect ratio to match the input. The old video was shot on a Sony DV which I thought was 720x480. I set the source to that and the output to that but the viewer looks slightly wider. Any clues how to address this?
I could be mistaken, but I believe this outputs the 9:16 ratio after making the change. If you want to change the ratio after the fact, I’d use premiere pro to edit my video.

Still outputs a stretched 16x9 video. The out option doesn't have 9x16
Try also typing it in the output section. Literally type 1080x1920. There wasn't a preconfigured option for me either.
@@chasesommer at first that field was not editable. But I created a new profile and it worked seamlessly.
