It's a real thing, and it basically means any public officer (mayors, governors, etc.) absolutely cannot face civil liability, nor in many cases criminal liability, for any action they take within their scope of their duties. I looked this up because for months I had the same question: why are all these people continually infringing on our rights, in the same ways, using the same language, over and over again? It's because it doesn't matter if the laws are struck down. It doesn't matter if the supreme Court declares an entire category of restrictions to be unconstitutional. All these people have to do is pass the exact same laws again, and it's on we the people to fight the laws in court every time forever. There is no fighting the lawMAKERS in court, because they are protected by absolute immunity, and that's what we need to repeal if we want to see the political landscape truly change.

Preemption needs to have teeth like 5 years in prison. This is the only way. Otherwise local tyrants know there are no repercussions and it takes years and $$$ to correct their illegal actions.
Or massive fines, not from the city budget, but from the politicians that vote for or sign the offending law

I live in GA but was born and raised along with spending my first 30 years in my home state of NC where I still have a lot of family and friends. The map at 16:54 makes me sad that NC is not part of the states defending the 2A. It’s due to them electing a Democrat as state AG, and that tells me what party is for infringing on the people’s rights to possess the firearms they choose! The fact that so many would vote for a party that pushes to take away their own 2A rights is just astounding! The law abiding citizens should not have our gun rights restricted due to what criminals do, and we should be able to possess the same firearms as government officials. Enough with the tyranny, and thanks Jared for keeping us informed about it.
