    When a good storm rolls in and the wind tears those grommets out, call Kraftsman Commercial Playgrounds & Waterparks. They can get you a thicker (blocks out more light) canopy with pockets sewn on all the edges for your cable to go through. I used to work for them. Good family owned business in Spring,Tx.

    Just a suggestion for when you inevitability climb back up to paint/cap the poles. Pour some concrete down em to absorb any moisture that got in there, let it set, cap it, and then weld on some collars to slide an oversized pipe down onto that can pivot and weld some pulleys to the pivot pipes. Then you can run the tension cables through the pulleys and down to ground level for retensioning or knockdown when/if the mesh needs repair or replacement.

    Grenade comes from the French for pomegranate likely due to early versions resembling the fruit, the first recorded use was in 1536 during the siege of Arles, the word grenade comes from the Latin granatus meaning "filled with grain"

    The makers of that material have multiple variations on how much sun to block. My partners and I researched wind resistance on the different versions. Almost no difference. So if you want more shade, go for the 90% block. You’ll like it more. Also this is plastic coated filaments and yarn (yeah, I know) It will stretch quite a lot, especially under heat. We found that out the hard way.

  • @silentepsilon888
    @silentepsilon888 หลายเดือนก่อน +55

    if you want more shade, I suggest buying another canopy, identical in size and lay it on top of the one you already have. I have done that and it works perfectly. You can attach the top canopy to the bottom one with zip ties. Also think about hanging some 3 foot canopies along the back and sides to shield the sun coming in from the side. It will give you a larger shaded area directly under the roof canopy as the sun moves during the day or stays lower in the sky during winter months.

In other words, you want a three-foot length on your straight line, a four-foot length on your perpendicular line, and a five-foot length across. If all three measurements are correct, you'll have a perfectly square corner.

    just thought of an idea for tensioning the canopy, at each of the four corners you could have a length of chain link that can slot into slots cut into the top of the pipes so as it stretches you can retention it by moving the chain up one link and hanging the excess inside the pipe. That way, if there's a strong enough wind, it will just pull the chain up out the slot and not rip the canopy.

    If you put a whole row of posts across the front of the range, connected by cables, then you could slide the canopy along it to any position. So it could be moved to the side if you were shooting from the middle long range.

      @@jiminauburn5073 .. that might be possible if the tension on the wires is not too high. But he would then need a full row of posts on the back too and he would need many wires from front to back to be able to attach the canopy sides also to keep the tension in that direction as well. it would be a lot of work because there is a grommet along the sides of the canopy almost every two feet and every one of them needs to be unhooked, and hooked up again.

    The quickest way to check for square is the 3, 4, 5 rule. Pick a corner, measure 3 feet in one direction, 4 foot in the other and the distance diagonally between should be 5 feet. Otherwise it's out of square.

And then cover it with some kind of expanded steel that will allow spent casings to fall through and collect in the middle, then you can just install a small access door and vacuum up all the brass.

    ONE OTHER COMMENT ON CONCRETE. In addition to waiting for concrete to cure, you should check the mix ticket from the driver. If you are getting concrete from a mix plant you should not pour it if it is more than 30 min old. Also you should know what slump level you should have and buy your own slump cone and slump mixing rod. As important as a hammer to a carpenter.

    You don't have to mix the concrete with water. Just pour it in the hole dry and tamp all the air out while keeping the poles plumb.
    Fill the last 2-4" with dirt and tamp... Ground moisture, humidity and or rain will harden it within a week.
    It will be perfect with no need for cross bracing...
