Thank you very much. I was so confused on how to take out my ice maker. And it was hard to find someone working on the same model as mine. I especially liked how you after you got the part out, you showed what the lever looked like in order to understand what to do after placing the pick in. Thank you again.
Thank you for this video bearded one! Really enjoyed it and it gave me the confidence to replace my icemaker. I did not have to replace the bottom part that the icemaker sits on, in fact my new icemaker didn't even come with one. Jumpers were all the same too, so nothing unexpected. I did have issue getting the cover that goes over the main cabling to come off, even though I depressed the detent and had it loose it was kind of stuck in the front. I pulled too hard and broke a little of the plastic but when I got all finished the cover went back on and it is a non-issue. I should have revisited your video when I was having trouble wit that because you do mention "pulling forward on it" which would have prevented me braking the plastic piece. As for disconnecting the power cable behind it many people here seem to have trouble with that. I also had trouble at first but I noticed you did it one handed and so it had to be simple. I tried pressing the detent to release it and slide it back so to get it apart but of course it felt like nothing was happening. I then used my phone and took close up of the connector from all sides and could tell that it was actually starting to separate. Once I did saw that I just tried again a couple times and it came right apart. Another neat trick was some comments where the inlet tube can be removed from above before you get started with the icemaker. I did that and it probably made getting the icemaker out a lot easier. So new icemaker is installed and I will see how it works. My only concern it that I may not have needed to replace it at all. My problem has always been that water seems to drip into the bin from somewhere and eventually creates a giant chunk of ice that keeps the auger from moving. I hope it was a seal in the icemaker so that it stops doing that. If not I guess I'm off to checking for a faulty inlet valve.
Thank you so much. Ice maker broke during Covid-19. No in-home service. Ordered the part and followed your instruction. Worked perfectly. Without the video instruction, not sure if I could get the wire cover off. It was stuck and took a lot of effort, especially without the instruction "pull it toward you." Thank you, thank you :) Stay safe and healthy.
Perfect video! Just had trouble with mine also. I have the same one as the new one you installed already in my fridge. Thank You for sharing this video.
Thanks for the video and links to the part. I replaced mine. Just step one would have had me stumped, so I'm glad you showed the lever mechanism that needed to press down with the screwdriver. Some minor differences in the new vs old, but the kit came with a new wire harness that worked great. I agree with the other comment that unplugging the harness was a bear.
There is a Little cover on top of the fridge , you open that and lift the fill tube , it would go smoothly, then when finished you pushed it down again
OmG i just got my wires off and opened up this on the top of fridge.. its all wet up there and some crazy white mold is growing... not good... freaked out about this water now..
Two years later, this comment helped so much. I read and thought, there’s no hole in the top. I’ll be, there is. Good thing cause I can’t get my forearms in deep enough to reach. Thanks again.
If you’re wondering about how to unclip the wires I figured it out. If you inspect it you can see the division between the two parts. On the left side I used one hand to grip it like he does in the video, I then slid my thumb nail in between the division and pulled while simultaneously pushing the other side with my fingers.
Great video. I think I have the same exact one, and was unsure about the part number. Also, "some resistance" on getting the fill tube to release is an understatement. I thought I was going to break something. Also, disconnecting the wire harness was a struggle. Finally used a small screwdriver to press the release tab.
I just did it by jamming a screwdriver between the two tabs and pressing down on the front tab with my thumb on the flathead while holding the back and pulling the front with my free fingers… oh and a lot of praying
Is there a trick to taking the wires apart? I’m having trouble with that step. I don’t know if I should just pull really hard (I don’t want to damage them) or if there is a different method
Should you pull out the water fill nozzle first from the top of the fridge? Otherwise, the nozzle's gonna be in the way and blocked the ice maker from pulling out.
so you miss a very important point as a repairman. You mentioned basically about really pulling hard to get the ice maker out to overcome the tube above. I almost busted my unit and it STILL wouldn't come out. I literally tugged on the ice maker to the point that my wife thought I'd tear the refrigerator in half, still nada. So I took a look at the tubing as it drops in from the top of the refrigerator. I carefully unclipped the water tubing assembly and rotated it up about a 1/2", went back to pulling out the ice maker, and it literally slid right out up till I had to gently fight all the wiring bundles. So obviously, my tubing was just a bit longer than yours, which is why they make the tubing removable from up top. You should really add that note to your video.
I have a may tag fridge and the ice maker is not making ice however the auger works fine. Also water comes out without any issue. Its almost as if the water line is pinched i also checked the switch which is on my fridge model is MF12269Drm01
There are 2 valves. 1 controls the drinking water and the other controls the ice maker. The valves are similar, si I disconnect mine and use an ohms meter to check for continuity. This will only test the coil on the valve. To further test the valve you need an assistant and some jumper wires. Disconnect the line from the valve to the ice maker. Utilize jumper wires to hook the iver maker valve to the drinking water connection. Have your assistant quickly press and release the water dispenser while you cover the outlet on the ice valve with a towel. If it squirts water your valves are not the problem. There is a way to manually make the ice maker cycle. Some are raise and lower the ice arm 3 to 5 times. You will need to find the manual for the ice maker to be sure. I'm looking for the manual as well. If I find it I'll post. Please post if you find it.
The holes that the ice bin clip/lock into on mine are broken, so the ice bin is constantly having to be pushed back in. I've looked everywhere but have not seen a part for the ice bin or ice maker housing. Does anyone know if this is even replaceable? The ice maker works fine.
Would it be the same or a similar issue causing the inlet tube to constantly freeze up? The funnel constantly freezes which backs ice up the fill line for me
When the fill tube freezer up , you either have a defective water inlet valve that let pass a little bit of water that freezes up, or a cracked hose that let hot air in
@GS - mine is directly above the ice maker. On the top of the fridge if you start facing the doors, from the front-top-right-corner back about 18-20 inches and to the right about 4. You should see a small black plastic rectangle about 2x3". I think it's supposed to have a cover. If you have a cabinet above you will have to pull the fridge away from the wall. I'd use a flat-blade screwdriver and pop the cap off. Then if you look in there is a hose coming from the back (down in the hole). That hose makes a 90° bend down into the ice-maker. I put my screwdriver under the hose, close to the 90 as I could, and pry it up. It took quite a bit of force to get out. I think because the plastic/rubber is cold. Might work better if you warmed it somehow, maybe a hair dryer. I also put a small rolled up towel so I didn't scratch the surface of the fridge while prying. Good luck!
The water tube was cut on mine somehow and I've got a replacement tube in hand. I can't get to the water valve even after removing the rear access panel. How do you get to the water valve on these?
Just wanted to say thank you! Your videos have saved me soooo much money on washer/dryer and fridge repair.... Awesome Individual!

My hands were almost to big to disconnect the harness LOL
can you explain what the release tab is? I'm trying to get the wire harness apart and am having a hellava struggle

Good god thank you so much for this video!!!!
How do I un clip the wires
Is there a trick or clasp that needs to be pushed or pried to get the wire assembly apart?
any additional info on how to undo the wiring would be greatly appreciated...not sure what to push and or pull?
Looking for the link for the ice maker
Can you post it again please
Did you order the new impinger separately? I thought it would have come with the replacement icemaker kit like other MFI2569s I've fixed.
Thanks sir you where a great help

I have this problem also. Ugh
Why does it freeze up like that?

It makes ice just fine for a few days, then the whole thing freezes over and I have to pull it out to thaw, rinse, repeat
When the fill tube freezer up , you either have a defective water inlet valve that let pass a little bit of water that freezes up, or a cracked hose that let hot air in
I’m probably going to have to change this out Do since mines not working. Did you have to shut the water off before removing the ice maker?
No not necessary. You valve in the fridge prevents that from needing to be done. Good luck!
Bearded Appliance Repair. thanks!
@@philiplamke258 you mentioned you were going to give the part number I have the exact same one that you took out
james naughton Part number is W10583817
This is great. I have this Model.
Where can I get this Ice Maker Assembly? I don’t see the link / name.
Thanks
On mine the filler tube popps up out the top of the fridge making it slide out easier...
Holy cow. I have never thought about that haha. It does doesn’t it. That would make it easier to get in and out haha.
Where? I think that's where I'm stuck. Assembly comes out a couple inches but no more.

@@spyderMN Finally got it free and of course there's ice clogging the inlet to the ice maker.
LOL, I think mine was a little too. I just chipped at it with the end of a screwdriver. Probably should have used an ice-pick.

Devil move to separate the wire harness with 1 FREAKING HAND in 3 seconds!!! How??? WTF!!!

That sure is a lot better than the kind you have to change the wiring harness what a pain in the ass that one is
You got that right. I’ve done them a bunch so I got pretty good at then.
