You know you're badass when your music fame was less than a year, yet, influenced many people for year to come. Richie, I may have never known you, but you live in all of us and your fame will live one for more generations to come.
MS. CONNIE VALENS ANDERSON IS ONE OF THE NICEST, KINDNESS, DOWN TO EARTH, HUMBLE PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. ITS NICE TO TALK TO HERE ABOUT RITCHIE AND HER FAMILY. SHE WILL BE STRAIGHT FORWARD AND HONEST. GOD BLESS YOU, CONNIE, YOUR HUSBAND, AND YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY...
Same for me, too! Luis Valdez, Esai Morales and Lou Diamond Philips capture the Mexican-American essence in the film is magical. I have a hard time explaining the dynamics, the experience of a Mexican-American family: the tough times and the good times, abuelita showing her love by cooking homemade rice and beans and tortillas, fighting with each other but being there for each other no matter what. I tell people to watch "La Bamba" then you'll get some idea what it means. When I watch it, it hits my Mexican side hardcore; I don't need to think about it...I FEEL it. La Bamba talks to our soul!

SO happy for you Connie! I met Dave from Los Lobos in the studio while recording a record, he was at the control desk eating raw jalapenos and they were mixing La Bamba. Great homage to your brother and legend.
I hope she has grown around his loss, that's all we can hope for. I hope her heart is full, overflowing & she is embraced anywhere she is in this country! God bless you Connie 💗🥰
How COOL! Had no idea. What a joy! NOTHING but respect for the Iowa people who still SO appreciate Buddy and Ritchie and JP, even after ALL these years! The venue is still gorgeous and so well maintained ... the giant pair of glasses on the highway and the marking of the crash site ... These things really matter to me, as I was just a kid of 11 or 12, but even still, a BIG fan of all three of these guys. I began playing a Stratocaster because of Buddy and Ritchie, and still play, after 62+ years ...

This accident happened a couple years before I was born, but I have always felt what a shame that it happened. Maybe a more experienced pilot would have gotten them there. Hoping their souls are with God...nothing else is important.

I HONESTLY HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE NEW MUSEUM OR DO I KNOW WHERE ITS LOCATED. CONNIE, WHO WAS NAMED AFTER HER MOTHER, MARRIED A MAN FROM CANADA AND LIVES IN SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA. The way it sounds, to me anyway, is that the people there are still huge fans of her brother and are like her extended family.
