Bangladesh has a troubled past, but it has been in a great position to grow dramatically in much the same way that its neighbour China has done in the recent past. Bangladesh is still a highly labour intensive market which makes it a great place to get T-shirts made, but a number of factors have made it painfully slow to develop beyond that. Could Bangladesh change things to become the next China?

Well, I would just like to point out that abroad countries are also not having a fun time with inflation as the global pandemic is still affecting our world economy. Something that I would say was overlooked here was about geography (I am from Canada so I don't know that much about other aspects of the country). Bangladesh looks like it has loads of natural harbours and really good water access. It is central to the population of the planet with China, India, SE Asia, Indonesia all nearby. So rather than taking resources up a river like the Mississippi, St Lawrence, Yellow or Yangtze, it would always be much easier to go and deliver raw materials to the Bangladesh coast, manufacture it there and then ship it out to the world. If it works for t-shirts, it can work for cars, ships, and every manufactured good. Lowering shipping costs is key to so many industries and Bangladesh is in a prime position to capitalize on that. They also have the man power to boot. It looks like a country full of great potential to me

I think Bangladeshis need to understand the idea of democracy inside out before it can get a foothold here. Most people think that democracy is all about election, whereas electing a leader is a mere part of democracy, and there is more to it
That's the problem all over the world but here in Bangladesh it is in Astronomical level
@@_aidid real development of bangladesh will begin when they stop taking lessons from the west that 'democracy' is the best virtue. none of the developed western countries, and even eastern countries, developed using democracy.

Regarding 3:40
When talking about "life expectancy" it might be an idea to talk about the inefficiencies of the metric towards singular events, like natural desaster and short wars.
In my humble opinion "life expectancy" is trying to measure the long-term quality of life. Singular type of events like the aformentioned don't seemt to fit this category very well, unless it's long term and recurring.
You see this by the "life expectancy" goint smoothly back to the trend it was on before 1970, so the dip doesn't tell you much about the quality of life (which seems to have been unchanged afterwards), but the age and amount of people dying from that specific event.
Might be an unnecessary overcomplicationg for the viewership though, as the metric is a statistically interesting approximation, due to the difficulties in measuring it.

Even the Chinese used to leave China to migrate to other countries, now look at how far they've come, similar thing will happen with Bangladesh, every country has a starting point and a struggle, from which they develop and advance into the future. Also, Bangladesh is twice the size of Scotland
The history lesson was very charitable to Pakistan. West Pakistan effectively sponsored a genocide during its occupation of East Pakistan and its war for independence.
In attempting to break the Bengali desire for independence, Pakistan murdered hundreds of thousands and displaced tens of millions, targeting the most educated and productive citizens of Bangladesh. Effectively, Bangladesh started not with a "Brain Drain", but a "Brain Murder" that made it very difficult for it to develop after independence.

@@rickgolder6818 he meant in per capita terms
@@rickgolder6818 I think You should Check Some facts. Bangladesh has higher purchase parity than india and also poverty rate and unemployment rate lower than india.
Great video, but the fact that Bangladesh is even being talked about, is a massive plus point. By no means is the country perfect, but if the country can tackle radicalism head on, the country is sure to grow.
if you could make a serie about the MENA reagion that woul be great
Great idea
YOU ACTUALLY DID BANGLADESH THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOOUUU
do Nepal pls
Yes
Nepal is a country with no future.
Yes, lol. Bangaleshis were fighting for Independence cause of a cyclone and not a repressive regime committing a genocide.
This shows how much effort you put in your videos.
This guy should stick to economics 101 concepts and not topics that require geopolitical analysis
The aftermath of cyclone exacerbated the rage among East Pakistani Bengalis against the repressive West Pakistani rulers

@@YourFuhrer1933Yeah. His videos are not much deep and it doesn't really give deep insights
Bangladesh’s GDP per capita income isn’t 2,668 USD but 3,327 USD in 2024.

oh my God oh my God oh my God oh my God...!
it's finally happen....! You made a video on Bangladesh!
I think Bangladesh could be next south Korea. As india i want stability there. A prosperous Bangladesh is important for indian export and economy too.
We will save their time, by including BD in India. Obviously that would include converting them back to Shudra caste of your forefathers.

Corruption will be the death of this country sadly. Love how informative & well researched this video is! Better than our bureau of statistics for sure!
Bangladesh definitely has the potential to be an economic powerhouse, but replicating China's exact path might be tricky. The cheap labor advantage in garments is a strength, but diversification into higher-value industries seems crucial for long-term growth. I'm curious to see how Bangladesh tackles infrastructure and education challenges to truly compete on a global scale.
0:32 South East Asia? 32 seconds in and theres alr a basic mistake? Come on EE, u are better than this
I love how this video skimped over the fact that Pakistan was conducting genocide against Bangladesh's people to suppress the call for independence, and India intervened (at least officially) to stop Pakistan army from doing so as it was creating a migrant crisis. Also, US unequivocally supported Pakistan by sending a carrier with nuclear capability to deter India, only to be countered by Soviet Union. USA blundered by siding with a nation conducting genocide, and it should be known, accepted and apologised for.

I remember they had an incredible rise.
But something happened 🤔
Not a great episode, simplistic and in some cases highly misleading. There is one key reason, unmentioned, why Bangladesh will not succeed: the interdependence of politics and religion.
Your analysis about independence of Bangladesh is way too inaccurate and shallow... If u don’t have enough time to give accurate information It's better to skip that...
Make such kind of video about Uzbekistan
As a Bengali Indian with roots in Bangladesh, I really hope they proper and grow. Stable and prosperous Bangladesh will be an economical boon for Indian economy and less illegal immigrants from there to India as well
So far the only thing that can drag down the progress of Bangladesh is radicalization which is quietly increasing for no reason. Maybe Bangladeshi youth focus on progress rather than religion
