Something that I would say was overlooked here was about geography (I am from Canada so I don't know that much about other aspects of the country). Bangladesh looks like it has loads of natural harbours and really good water access. It is central to the population of the planet with China, India, SE Asia, Indonesia all nearby. So rather than taking resources up a river like the Mississippi, St Lawrence, Yellow or Yangtze, it would always be much easier to go and deliver raw materials to the Bangladesh coast, manufacture it there and then ship it out to the world. If it works for t-shirts, it can work for cars, ships, and every manufactured good. Lowering shipping costs is key to so many industries and Bangladesh is in a prime position to capitalize on that. The history lesson was very charitable to Pakistan. West Pakistan effectively sponsored a genocide during its occupation of East Pakistan and its war for independence. In attempting to break the Bengali desire for independence, Pakistan murdered hundreds of thousands and displaced tens of millions, targeting the most educated and productive citizens of Bangladesh. Effectively, Bangladesh started not with a "Brain Drain", but a "Brain Murder" that made it very difficult for it to develop after independence.
I love how this video skimped over the fact that Pakistan was conducting genocide against Bangladesh's people to suppress the call for independence, and India intervened (at least officially) to stop Pakistan army from doing so as it was creating a migrant crisis. Also, US unequivocally supported Pakistan by sending a carrier with nuclear capability to deter India, only to be countered by Soviet Union. USA blundered by siding with a nation conducting genocide, and it should be known, accepted and apologised for.
As a Bangladeshi myself, I can safely say that the growth on paper is quite nice with an uneven wealth distribution. Dependancy on only a few Trades isn't gonna cut it in the long run. While there has been signs of diversification with bigger of Electronics and Mobile Phone brands setting up their plant here (As of now mostly assembly) , It's only catering to the local demand and missing out a potential to be another Vietnam , due to some of the policies taken. For example, in the handset industry, there are staged Vat from production to distribution (15% cumilitive addition) with already high duty. Plus the export is solely dependant on import. We have lower balance reserve now and and it could have been prevented if we had our industry to make raw materials for finished goods to be exported later on. While focusing on the industrial growth , we are putting the agriculture in the back seat despite our lands being quite ferilte , Thanks to being part of Ganges Delta. The agriculture production have been increased drastically since the independence. We have some great GI items that could have been properly capitalized for export. Plus Bangladesh these days export various stuffs including shrimps. As for the Human Labor, most of them are unskilled. While our neighboring countries train up and send skilled labors to the Middle east, here most people go as unskilled and as a result gets paid lesser than the rest. So in short, Improving the policies, promoting home grown industry and diversifying exports can actually benefit Bangladesh in the Long run. Only RMG and Remitannce from the Labor aboard Alone can't improve it.
Bangladesh definitely has the potential to be an economic powerhouse, but replicating China's exact path might be tricky. The cheap labor advantage in garments is a strength, but diversification into higher-value industries seems crucial for long-term growth. I'm curious to see how Bangladesh tackles infrastructure and education challenges to truly compete on a global scale.

They also have the man power to boot. It looks like a country full of great potential to me

And there's no doubt that we've been lied to about the growth vs inflation, the average Bangladeshi has to do very difficult maths when shopping for something as necessary as daily groceries now, and It's not an exaggeration, practically any Bangladeshi can relate.
Well, I would just like to point out that abroad countries are also not having a fun time with inflation as the global pandemic is still affecting our world economy. @@_aidid real development of bangladesh will begin when they stop taking lessons from the west that democracy is the only acceptable model and somehow the 'best virtue'. it's only _after_ achieving high development, they slowly transitioned to democracy (with many being democracy in name only). but now they force neoliberal restructuring to underdeveloped countries under the guise of 'democracy and freedom' because they know it's the most manipulatable and exploitable system for the western corporate and political class. the losers are the ordinary citizens of both the underdeveloped and developed countries.

But it has a higher nominal GDP per capita than India!

As a Bangladeshi, I start my phrases as a Bangladeshi.
I think Bangladesh could be next south Korea. As india i want stability there. A prosperous Bangladesh is important for indian export and economy too.
