    Once adding this I wonder if it would help adding a mesh screen on the back of the saw. The back side of the filter gets pressed against the case. Maybe a future hack.

      @@TheDurbinCompound Yeah, I think I'll do that. Husky is way ahead of Stihl in air filtration, I have to say. I thought the 462 was getting there, but it doesn't seem that better, compared to other Stihls.

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. I run a West Coast Saw foam air filter on the 462 and like it. I also run Max Air Flow filters on saw I can get them for. The 500i air filtration is among the worse I’ve seen. It just pulls in all the dust and dirt and does a horrible job managing it with the paper filter

    • @johndunbar2393
      @johndunbar2393 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You only need to clean it when it gets dirty, like you can start to see dirt buildup on foam. They can go for quite awhile without being cleaned, as long as they are oiled. If it's not overly dirty, but the oil has dried out a bit from sitting, I just take it off, blow it out an air hose and apply more oil. You'll get the feel for when it needs to be cleaned, but you aren't going to hurt it by cleaning it too much, but they are resilient and don't need to be cleaned constantly either.
