I just finished cutting for about 40 days on a fire. It was the 1st time i've run the 500i on a fire using the max flo, and wasn't super impressed. It seemed like way too much fine particulate was getting in, and always have issues with the cover not seating properly and staying in place. It looks like this system just uses the OEM cover? Thanks for the vid.
I bought this updated filter kit for 500i when it came out together with the muffler, only issue I have is that the o ring pinched and did never seat properly from new, I think with a fair bit of mucking around I had got it to seat once but when I checked again today to do some maintenance I noticed it was broken and all screwed up and folded over. When you twist down the latch you can't see the o ring, so you never know if it's seated right. Looking at it reasonably it's just a patch up idea that never worked to seal the latch from being a dust entry to filter core, it's a joke really for what is otherwise a nice product but pricey especially with exchange rates and prohibitive shipping costs to Australia. I'm not sure if they updated it since but that would be my sincere recommendation.
How did you find the Air filter? The standard filters allow fines under the base of the air filter. I was onto this fast, and use a film of grease to block/catch any fines. Also i cut out a rubber washer for the turn/tighten knob so more pressure would be aplied to keep contact. Never have had an issue with needing a O ring like yours. At 2.5 K you think they would have got this right. I am seriously thinking about putting a Universal pod filter with the hose clamp fitting on my 500i. What do you think?
Make sure to open up the side vents to open up more filter area.
JCS has a clip on it...

Afterwards, it must be a hell of a mess to clean up, whereas with HD, one blow, and we don't talk about it anymore
