Agreed - but not featured in this clip. I believe the guitarist in Dr. Feelgood shown here is Gypie Mayo. Better honouring Wilko (correct spelling) in comments on videos actually featuring him, e.g. 'Roxette', 'Going Back Home', 'Down By The Jetty', etc.
This was one of the defining songs of that era for me as a 15 year old lad...
I was 11 :)
What a tune 🤘
Still got the single on white vinyl from when it came out when I was 11 yrs old
Was it rock, punk, pop, blues? Fukc knows but I loved it :)
I was 11 at the time
Bet Lee exited the stage and said give me a bottle JD's, 20 bensons and a face to punch in. The best of the best Dr Feelgood

@@carlhaydock1787 the guitarist here John "Gypie" Mayo actually passed away in 2013....great song.
Song about their hero John Lee Hooker, who was in a bad way when they saw him play during their US tour.
Did not know that - thanks for the info!
Yes absolutely spot on bud I was a fan of JLH but Muddy had the edge for me, Gympie could play a guitar though.
@@tomhaskett5161 platforms are not only something bands like these wore in the 70s r kid, atb buddy
But do you know who wrote the lyrics and gave the title to the song?
@@flatearthblue4939nick Lowe .

49th Greatest Guitar Riff of all time on Radio 2's 100 Greatest Guitar Riffs in 2016.
Just about the smartest suit I've seen Lee wearing.
I never realised they had been on TOTP. I thought they weren't the sort of band they liked!

Wilko left around Feb 1977 I think.
It's John "Gypie" Mayo.....he died in 2013
Who’s on guitar ? Not Wilco
John 'Gypie' Mayo ... he replaced Wilko around 1977-78 when Wilko and Lee had a falling-out.
Exactly!!!! I came here to see him do that mad walk of his!!! 😆😆😆😆😆
@@clairecarlia-jones5979 He still is a unique guy. Never seen him live though. He did an album with roger daltrey a few years ago and it’s excellent
And still a classic guitar riff..Wilko would have digged that.
