My dad was 59 when he died, 59. I feel betrayed, I feel like I'm being stood up by god himself. Oh daddy, I'm crying writing this, knowing I'll never hear your voice again or see your cheeky smile. I love you so, so much and my heart has been torn apart. You sent me this beautiful piece of art just months ago and I didn't even bother to react to your mail. Well, here I am now. I love it, daddy. To all of you out there, don't take your parents for granted or anybody for that matter, today they might be fine but they could be gone in a day with no warning.

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God and believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you; for I go now to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. And you know the way to where I am going. I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you His Kingdom.”

The lyrics tell the story of a highwayman in the southern mountains of Ireland who robs a military government official to get his girlfriend Molly’s approval after she promises to love him forever. Unfortunately, she betrays him and he is thrown in jail. There are many versions of the song and the locations change between Cork, Kerry, Kilmoganny (village), and Sligo Town, and in America the locations can be the Appalachians, Massachusetts, or the Ozarks. The official that is robbed is either a Captain or Colonel named Farrell or Pepper. Among other names, the girlfriend can be Emzy, Ginny, Jenny, or Molly. extract from: REVEALED: THE HIDDEN MEANING BEHIND THE LYRICS OF 501 CLASSIC and POPULAR SONGS. The day my stepfather handed down his vinyl collection to me was the day I fell in love with Thin Lizzy. Hidden in the crates of wax was a poster of Phil donning a Sid Vicious button. I grew up on punk rock in the 80's and didn't really care for the Pistols at the time, but when I saw that poster, I knew I had to listen to the Thin Lizzy wax right away and I'm glad I did. Hell! It even gave me an appreciation for the Pistols. Wish I could thank my stepfather again. Rip Michael Louis.
