Yow! I'm glad that I am a road guy. For a multi-day trip, a folding tire and a tube or two. Tire levers and a patch kit. Spokes tied to your top tube and a spoke wrench. A multi-tool. A mini-ratchet, small plier and a small phillips head screwdriver. A chain tool and a couple of links. Electrical tape. All of this will fit in a carrier on top of your rear rack with plenty of room left over. Of course, having someone driving a sag wagon with all of the essentials is the best way to go.

I 2nd some form of cleaner, degreaser: and a can of spray lube. Isopropyl to clean discs, cuts, slime off things. Maybe a spare disc (CL/6 bolt). You can use the toestrap to secure bike to a branch or rail for working off the ground. I have a telescoping bar that goes into the end of one of my car roof bars with a basic clamp on the end to work as a repair stand.

On my 2-3+ month bicycle trips it would be good to ride with someone carrying all those tools... On the other hand, when my son suffered collision damage in the Rockies, when I had a headset fail in NC, and when a stick drove my rear derailleur into the spokes in the Hudson Valley, there were places called bicycle shops that were better equipped for those catastrophic failures. Rule of thumb on the road, or trail, is you suck it up and make it work until you can find a shop. ;~)

I am also a bike mechanic in Cheyenne Wyoming. So things can be far between when I'm riding. So here is what I carry. Screwdriver with four bits, small pair of vice grips, box end wrenches for all the nuts and bolts, six I think. Allen wrenches, spoke wrench, small adjustable wrench, chain breaker, small pair of channel lock pliers, called ignition pliers. pump, patch kit, spare inner tubes. All in all I think my tool kit weights in at about 3 pounds. I carry this all the time when I'm riding. So weight is not an issue. Oh, small container of spare nuts and bolts. Three tire irons. Tire pressure gauge.

I would totally bring the TW-5.2 instead of the ATD. I love my ATD but there are a bunch of places (on my bikes at least) where 6N-m isn't enough. Like seatpost collars, seat clamps, stem pinch bolts, etc. I agree on not needing the BIG ONE for cranks and whatnot so IMO the 2-14N-m range of the TW5.2 has the winning bang-for-buck game.

The trip I am planning is 180 miles or so, 2 days, on paved roads mostly.
I have the following at the moment.
    1. Multi tool kit (do you think individual T handle Allen keys are better?)
    2. Chain tool
    3. Tire levers, 3 pcs
    4. Spare tube- 1
    5. Tube patches- 5 (with adhesive and emery paper for sanding the tube)
    6. Mini pump- 1
    7. Derailleur hanger- 1 (is this important??)
    8. What about spare chain ?? maybe some links ?? are they really needed?
    9. Zip ties ?? Adhesive tape??

So sad that you didn't put more work in to the mechanics table wheel kit. The pneumatic tyres are a bit dicey, tubes hard to get. Would have been fine with some 7" foam tyre trolley wheels. I use mine all the time at events to get my tools over to the other side of the pits or back to the car. Can you revisit it?

Not sure if you made a video yet but what about people that are on a long distance road trip that are traveling? Someone who is biking cross country? Bike backpack travel. What tools should one carry with them at all times when no access to getting back to your car or base came is an option? Weight is always a concern when carrying clothing, food, camera and video gear etc. If you have not made a video yet, I would like to see one on what are the basic minimalist tools one should carry as well as what minimalist parts due to weight that one should carry when traveling on a week long, month long, six month long trip, etc.
Thanks for putting out such great videos to help me learn how to maintain my bike equipment. Peace, Mo

How far out and portable tools, vs. at campsite,
long hike back with a broken bike,

If they would of taking the trailer that would have been the best sleeping set up.

I would like a 360 shot of the facility. Also they should just rent an SUV to drag that trailer if anticipating that much bike damage!

Can you make one for long distance bike touring where you don't want to bring the kitchen sink?

Same philosophy as a trail ride - just take what you think need to get to the next bike shop & be prepared to get creative. Ask yourself - What's really likely to go wrong, and what can you actually fix on the road/trail?? Also, give your bike a complete check up & service by a great mechanic before leaving - preventative maintenance reduces the likelihood of needing repairs.

I did a 5000km (sry for non american measurement) tour around the Baltic sea in Europe) I just carried a small multitool (with chain-tool and Spokewrenches) the L-Keys I need for my bike (screws wich are hard to reach with the multi-tool), some spare inner-cables, spare brakepads, a Leatherman, Gloves and two spare Chainlinks.

I forgot fire making supplies!! Pepper spray for bears is another must have in places big predators live. Carry bells, a whistle even firecrackers where theyre safe! Carrying a large weapon makes lots sense sometimes!!

    2x spokes
    3x nipples
    2x spare tubes / extra tubular+needle+thread+glue / 1x spare tube + 40ml sealent +1xCO2+vavle depending of tyre type i bring.
    1x tire bot
    1x pre glued patch kit.
    zip ties
1x cleat with 2x shortened bolts for bont shoes.
    1x chainring bolt.
    20mm wide small ducktape roll.
    1x toestrap
    1x Wipperman Connex chainlink
    1x tiny superglue.
    20ml chain oil
    1x rag
    20ml dishsoap
    1x yellow Michelin tire lever.
    1x inner cable
    2x vavlecores
BBB Oval Integrate 430mm frame pump
Done, i can rebuild my road, vintage and gravel bike with above appart from headset & BB cups.
Im replacing every torx bolt with hex when going on multi week self supported tours.
MT-1 can do Look, Ritchey pedals - basically every non shimano pedal.
Campy & DT hubs: i can remove cassette by removing bearing from non driveside side if i need to replace a driveside spoke - no need for locking tool or chain wip.
...and two weeks ago while in Andalucia . i forgot to pack the f******* spokes (only remembered nipples) - and i broke a spoke outside Cordobra. Fixed tension on my 31 spoked wheel and rode carefully for 30k to Cordobra where i sourced two spokes where i rebuild the wheel in front of the Mezquita.
not a lot of park tools tools, but at least its park tools :-)
