It's definitely true that eventually any spring-based rebounder is noisier than the bungy-based rebounders are.
Good job, here, Sylvia, although I find bouncing without shoes to be much better than apparently Ben does!

I'm going to try this. I never tried this type of exercise because I don't like jumping, but since I can do the gentle bounce movement I'm all for it. Thank you so much for the helpful information.

I just started with a rebounder I bought used several days ago to see if I like it. So far, I just love the gentle bouncing motion. The only thing my rebounder doesn't have that I'd feel more comfortable with is the stabilizing bar. Once I figure out which make and model I'm going to invest in, should I continue to use mine on a daily basis, I will get the bar to go with it. I'll also get a folding version for storage and also so that I can take it with us when we travel. My husband and I are retiring in Dec. 2014 and hope to be doing a lot of traveling and this is one piece of equipment that would be wonderful to take with us.

That's great. I am happy that you are starting bouncing again. It's the best refreshment that you can give your body in SPRINGTIME!!!! Have fun!

@propanes Hi there, That's a good point. There is a very easy solution to get the bounce return firmer: Choose stronger bungee cords. Bellicon offers 5 different bungee cord strengths and if for you choose x-strong or even ultra (which is for people of up to 400 lbs), you can get a bounce return as firm as a spring based Rebounder, like the Athletic. Bellicon has stopped to manufacture their spring based models (Dynamic and Athletic) as they can give any kind of bounce with different bungees.

Yes. Jumping rope is very effective. It's just that for a lot of people landing on the floor (hard surface) is too jarring. A young body up to 25 or 30 can compensate that shock easily. Later the body does not compensate so well any more and at some point jumping on the floor gets contra productive. There, top quality Rebounders like the Bellicon come in and allow continuous bouncing till over 90 years... (my oldest clients are 92).

Concerning bouncing with or without shoes: I also prefer and teach to bounce without shoes as you get so much more benefit from rebounding this way. Ben however is one of the very few people who have very tender joints and extreme problems with pronating. And in this rare case it is recommended to use special anti pronating shoes. That is the reason why he bounces with shoes.

Hi there, Yes the bungee band rebounder is of course completely noiseless. But also the spring based rebounders of Bellicon (the "Dynamic" and the "Athletic") don't make any noise.

Thank you very much for your question. It is ok to bounce with shoes however you get more benefit out of your rebounding session, when you bounce barefoot or in socks. The reason is that when you bounce without shoes, you also train the muscles of your feet. Some people however have conditions where they need a supplementary stabilization of the ankles and then it is better that they wear shoes. But this is rare. For most of the people bouncing in socks or barefoot is the best.

@belletube07 Thank you for your comment. Concerning Lymphedema: Several of my clients told me that with a regular workout on their Rebounder (they use the Bellicon bungee Rebounders), there condition got so much better. This makes sense to me as you really move your lymph system.
