Since I bought gw-5000u I must confess I don’t feel the need for another g-shock! I like it a bit heavier and the resin strap is way more comfortable than any other g-shock I owned before! The g-shock I might have a look at is the gmw-b5000tvb-1er, but before I pull the trigger on it I have to see it in flesh to see if is the connection with it or not! Great reviews, always happy when you post something new! Take care
Aaah love this video… I always feel guilty to add a new G Square to the collection (just received my DW5040PG-1). As you say, those who know, know. Thank you for your fabulous stuff - content and production,
Thanks to this vid, I've just bought my 1st G-Shock square :) I've had various G-Shocks since the mid 90's as back then I really needed beater watches. Now I just get nice watches that fly under the radar of the increasing number of watch thieves in London and this fits the bill perfectly. I bought online from Sakura watches for £140 + shipping + what ever the taxman wants.
The GW-5000U with the same 3495 module is by far my favourite G-Shock. The better materials, upgraded module, it wears really well, and the full screw-down caseback. The only downside is that its surprisingly power hungry if you leave auto-receive time sync on. This is especially noticeable in the UK where this winter we've not had not in the way of sunlight. I've taken to turning off auto-sync for the time being though, and its been fine.
The GW5610 has mutiband 6 so syncs every night and is always on high battery setting even in winter. A basic amount of light is all that's necessary. Maybe yours is faulty.
I've accrued a few G-Shock square watches over the years with bluetooth resin and metal cases, non Bluetooth etc. I still think my favourite is my discontinued 5610 resin non 'u' version with the old EL backlight as I have many memories with it. Next would be my titanium 5000 with the positive display and BT, sapphire glass. The 5610U model I got a while back and the module is better in some ways than the non 'u' model with the LED back light. Anyway I'm waffling. I guess what I'm saying is it's hard to go wrong with a G-Shock square. There are so many variations that have been made over the years with different displays, features and materials, there should be one for almost anyone. This carbon version is tempting though but I'm not sure I can justify another square just yet. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a G-Shock. That's a good thing. Not a bad price. I'll probably just stick with my resin 5610 - it seems like it's going to last forever. I always enjoy your videos. Great work!
I had the 1st version and just got the U version. Its my favorite ghock, but that carbon band on the first one started to break after about 5 years of daily wear. I won't be bending this new strap as much while putting it on.
I love my basic 5600 because that is the closest to the original version. The problem with casio watches is that when you need a new genuine replacement strap or bezel because it’s usually costs an arm and a leg. Comparing with the watch’s original price. Buying the watch for $50 and getting a new bracelet and bezel for $35.
@@porscheguy19 unless you are in Thailand that the radio station is at least 800 miles or 1200 km away it is almost useless and needs to use fake radio signal app instead
@@BraveBeaters You really don't have to worry about it. It takes VERY little light to charge and a full charge will last ages especially while not worn where it will turn the screen off and stop receiving MB6 signals in order to preserve the battery as much as possible. I have several solar Gs and some of them go months without seeing any light, But they never have any problems and are always ready to go when the time comes.
I was shocked and happy to see you have chosen to review this watch. I own this exact reference and it's so light you don't notice you have it. Very underrated (likely since its only JDM) and doesn't get as much reviews online or on TH-cam compared to the other lineups
Never owned a G-Shock mostly because I am confused with the massive models being released. I would like to own a square, at some time I enjoyed the white ones, even the one with glossy metalic finish but my fear was that I will choose a model that nobody like and if I do not fall in love with it I won't be able to sell it to try a new one. Although there is a huge fan base, if you do not choose a G-Shock that has watchmaking heritage, I won't have the enjoyment to discover it. From your perspective, to what should I focus my attention? I know you have reviewed another one a while back that was more in line with the original released.
Haha! True words, I have a good friend which helped me to catchup with the Square trends. So yes, The squares are potentially the most popular designs of the brand. DW5000 is a good reference for sure :) Cheers!
5000U is a great model. It features the updated 3495 module with all its perks. It has a screw down case as the original. There is a nice heft to it. Resin is a lot softer than 5610. It’s very comfortable to wear and has a more premium feel to it. I’ve owned one for 4 month now. It’s my first g-shock. I feel like I won’t need another one.
There is no way you can break this. Only cut it maybe? It is much more likely the titanium buckle breaks than the strap itself. Strap may feel stiff in the beginning and is not going to get better. I have small wrists and am between two sizing holes and wearing it tighter becomes noticeable when you’re wrist swells. Otherwise it is so light you barely know it’s there. I would buy it again if I had to it is really good.
I love the concept of this watch, but they could've put it on a nylon strap instead and it'd probably be even lighter, more durable, and WAY more comfortable. Still considering getting one just for the titanium caseback & pushers. But that strap would be coming off immediately.
Near the end of the video you showed a side by side with a green metallic bordered 5600 I have never seen. Looks like the blue GW-B5600-2, but with a positive display. Love to know where you got it.
lol…. Your military thoughts on a battery aren’t exactly correct. One thing you learn quickly in the military is that if something can fail, it WILL FAIL in glorious fashion at the worst time and in a place where replacement is not feasible. That’s why I ONLY trust solar watches for any military operations or outdoor adventures. A citizen eco drive was my career companion.

This is a great watch, a must buy if you’re into sweet square G-Shocks.

This is one of my favs, despite the cost (or lack thereof). Looks great, and almost rivals my TVA.
There is a new model made of forged carbon (combi bracelet and case) it's around $1800-$2200. Rather insane but well... ya know.

OK, I saw solar, I am intrigued.
Solar and radio time are super awesome. It never dies, and it's always perfect time.
If you take care of it to receive constant light, yes :)

I own GW-S5600 Carbon. It shiny. I love it. I prefer the old module with batery indicator than the new one without it
Already have two of these beast square..., this might be the next🥲
🎉
I am enjoying your video.
Can you suggest casio solar power wrist watch?
Nice review. Do you think is over the standard 5610u or 5000U ?
Fibre is an essential part of any diet - but please watch your carbon footprint
🤣
I’d beg to differ on the fiber’s importance on a diet, but can agree with the carbon fiber on a watch or car :)
Don't eat fiber dummy
No carbon,no life.
How is something that is nonessential and indigestible an essential part of any diet?
The G-Shock G9000-1v is 👑
Cool design, I agree!
I love the vintage Kodak 110 camera at 5:42 do you use it ever?

Since this lightest model isn’t (expectedly) lightest on the pocket, I’m having to be content with my G5600UE which is light on the wrist and pocket 😉
That's probably the best buy! :)
is there a made in japan version of this watch?
I love casio❤❤
Is this available online? Do you think I can buy it im India?
Is this available in the US?
Yes. Ebay
Too blingy but I like the module clarity

Square carbon is much better but pricy
why not remove the plastic dude?
I only buy solar. Your argument is really dumb.
