I've had videos in the past that took a while to make but this one was on a bit of a different level. thanks for all the patience of everyone who kept hearing me talk about making this without it coming out for like an entire month. also sorry for the 10 million different levels of audio quality, hopefully it's not too noticeable as I tried my best to fix it. but, lesson learned, record every line on the same day if possible.
this was my first time making a guide like this, I may do it once or twice more in the future. after this I want to try my hand at a video essay as well.

a couple of corrections to make:
1. to get the short-distance high-arc bacon you tilt the stick back, not up.
2. in the most recent patch, 4.0, that property of stall-then-fall dairs where they have reduced falling speed if used right after being launched has been removed.

BeemoTD usually you want to be a distance where you don’t have to angle it because then it spreads in a wider variety and can cover more options.

Considering the current flow of things in real life, if anyone sneezes you’re probably going to be at 50%.
Finally, a Smash guide with actual personality to it. I tried watching so many guides and videos with advice to Smash characters, like ZeRo and such, but they bored me to near death and were not fun to watch at all. THIS is how you make something that's entertaining, accessible, and fun, and I'll be playing G&W a lot more now that I understand things about the character a bit better.

How to play G&W:
1. Start playing him
2. BS your way through him
3. See if something works
4. Repeat 2 and 3
Lose more than average against your skilled friends, yet still deal with them calling Game and Watch broken when you crush their souls with a 9 at 0% on their last stock for the win.
We don't play Game and Watch to be ultra competitive.
We play him because he's unlike any other character and once you land your first crazy 9, you're in the Flat Gang for good.

You did this whole video in the same tone of voice as Patrick Bateman explaining why "It's Hip To Be Square" is Huey Lewis' masterpiece and I approve.
I was sort of wondering what I was on about with the tone of voice I ended up taking in this vid and honestly that's a better description than I could have come up with.

A few notes for any aspiring G&W mains out there:
- Up b is BROKEN out of shield due to invincibility on startup. Press up and b at the same time to avoid doing the stupid shield thing.
- Ftilt is super broken. It hits really far below ledge and the hitbox is deceptively massive.
- Chef ledgetraps at ledge cover pretty much every ledge option, as long as you find the spacing (usually around ledge roll distance from ledge). Also chef can just straight up nullify some chars if they lack good movement options or good projectiles to get around it (*cough* heavies *cough*)
- CHEFTILT. If you manage to hit chef on ledge, you can combo into an FTilt (or dtlt, but its harder to hit becasue low hitbox) and it is a very potent and very consistent kill confirm.
- Bomb, while not a super good move, is positive on shield meaning you can pressure shields with it. You usually want to short hop and then drift back after using it, and then you can dash in and grab or hit their shield as part of a true shield string.
- Uair is RIDICULOUS, you can use dthrow in to 1 or 2 nairs (or more, if on triplats) and continue to just uair for 70-80% off one grab combo. Many characters will struggle to land, and will be forced to ledge where you can start chef ledge trapping.
- also 2 hammer jablocks and if you hit a jablock combo with it you're automatically sick :^)
Nair usually combos into another nair and an up b at low percents
Down smash is the best punish and after a spotdodge it works super consistently. Also bomb-uptilt-nair-upb is true if you can position it correctly
up B has intangiblity on frame 5, not on startup (which is frame 3)

K so when you use the bucket on Byleth's fully charged arrow then used the bucket on a character, it just kills at 0%.

An extra tip, If you use up special and move down to remove the parachute and then you can immediately air dodge upwards and game & watches floatiness will be a good recovery boost

What my Game and Watch experience has taught me in Ultimate:
1. Offer your humble bucket to Electrode (Silph Co stage and Pokeball)
2. Party Balloons with five Bob-ombs are also your friend.
3. Any time you get the winning blow on a throw, it's funny as hell
4. When in doubt, pray to the 9 gods
5. For the Final Smash, send the Octopus down anytime there's no stage beneath you. Then if your opponent manages to mash out, then can still potentially be killed from inability to recover.

The info about Oil Panic charging from shit like nearby explosions was crazy, and the breakdown of the hitboxes of attacks like the Dair and effects of side-B were helpful, though that could be in part because I'm a dumbass. One thing worth mentioning is that oil panic is not a projectile and cannot be reflected. I see people online always try to like cape it or something and throw away their stocks because of it

Some additions:
-second part of up b is good for catching high recoveries, due to the horizontal launch angle
-up smash is almost un-punishable (for smash attack standards)
-dtilt is good for chars that have bad horizontal recoveries
-(idk how useful this is) using bucket in the air will stop you from rising, so short hop bucket will let you move for a bit while using bucket
I probably don't need this because my game and watch is in elite smash but somehow you make the video still worth watching

The slow down air trick applies to every character with a stall-then-fall down air.
The splat bomb bounces off of the first thing it hits probably to mimic how it worked in splatoon

As a official Mr. Game and watch main, I approve this video.
Nintendo should make it so that in training mode Mr. Game and Watch's side b will cycle through the numbers in order so you can more easily test them out and try combos.
If you could not tell people how to rock-crock, that'd be greatly appreciated...
Also, G&W is a hellish matchup for falcon... You can up-b out of like ever combo...

I definitely didn't come in expecting a serious tutorial to the character and was pleasantly surprised
G&W main here, i would just like to say that up-B is my favorite move because its the most vital, and when an opponent is far off stage and you cant throw out any aerials because you are below them, up-b gives them that extra little push to the blastzone
G&W's downsmash bury sets up very well for the sweet spot side smash, too.

Thanks Grayfruit. When I started watching your videos, I picked up game and watch, then got bullied relentlessly for being so bad with him. But after watching you play, and looking at this guide, I now get bullied relentlessly for being so mediocre with him.
Of course Ganon sneezing would destroy a bomb, this is the man with the world's longest nose. Oh and he's a sentient semi-truck too.

Oil Panic tip: if you want to absorb the energy from a projectile like Snake's side B, face the opposite direction of the projectile so it hits your back and explodes, therefore filling the bucket
