    Preach sister! This was one of the best videos I’ve seen explaining the no oil and butter movement. Like you stated there’s pros and cons on both side and its important for people to understand that its all a personal choice.

    I love the simplicity of it and I’m wash and go all of the time.

    I used to slather my hair in oils then I gave them up completely and now I just use them as an overnight treatment before wash day once a week. For me that's the best way to use them. Minimally.

    I use 3 products on wash day: shampoo, conditioner (not deep conditioner), and tgin butter cream.

    I use shampoo, conditioner, Leave-in and hair foam because I leave my hair twists, I dont like wash and gos. (deep conditioner if I need like 2 a month or less) I have my clarifying shampoo and protein treatment (when I need it). I not following the method extrictly. I wash my hair 2 a week that is a point that some forget. But my hair is *chef kiss* easy, quick and heathier.

    I love my twist out. I tried wash and go and have been unsuccessful more than successful. I really don't like the shrinkage. I am not a raw oil or butter person but that came with experience. Influencer helped me on this journey but my hair made the final decisions. I have a routine that is perfect for my twist out. It is not Curly Girl friendly either which I tried and my hair was soooo ugly. I use "my hair rules😉".

    I'm a protective style natural. 80% of the time my hair is in flat twists every 2 weeks. I shampoo, deep condition for 30 to 45 minutes, rinse, apply rose water to my scalp and hair, then seal lightly with oil while my hair is still wet, add leave-in conditioner as my cream. Install curlformers to stretch my hair. Next day take curlformers out and detangle with ease and lightly spritz rosewater to reactivate the product already in my hair and completely seal with a whipped hair butter cream to completely seal everything in and flat twists. This style last me 2 weeks at a time. Wash n go's and twists outs are NO for me. It's just a tangled mess. With flat twists it's less tangled because of the pre-stretching with the curlformers. And I'm able to retain more length. My first 4 years natural I did wash n go's and twists outs. Loved the volume but it felt like my hair was growing as much compared to now. Since I've been mainly wearing my hair in flat twists these last 2 years I've retained more length and less cut/trimming to do when I straighten my hair by the end of the year just to see the length. This method works perfect for me now that my hair is APL/BSL.

      I feel ya. when i first went natural all I did was loc method and twist outs every 3 days but my hair grew fast/retained length. I got overwhelmed though and have big chopped 3 times. This time I have tried the wash and go, no oils no butters lifestyle but it seems my hair tangles so easily and breaks because of single strand knots :( (I have high porosity fine but dense strands)my length is definitely not where it could be.

    • @justbeuneik
      @justbeuneik 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@britjj5126 I have high porosity but fine/medium high density strands as well. Protective styling has definitely help me to gain and retain the length I'm at now APL/BSL. Keep my hands out of my hair and has reduced tangles. I ways make sure to keep my hair off my shoulders. Occasionally, I'll do Ayurvedic treatments as well to strengthen and nourish my hair.

      I have multi type 4, fine strands, with medium density.. I noticed that when I do a WnG and then stretch either with heat or bands, depending on how much time I have, it gives me the same benefits as protective styling.. Preventing single strands knots and heavy breakage.. I've been natural forever, only ever changing products and routines over the years.. Went from an entire wash day to now taking a 1-2hrs including styling (I'm still an air dry kind of girl, so it is a little longer when I have to sit under a dryer).. Have had a TON of hiccups along my way and several big chops.. But I love having my hair out.. So long-term protective styling has never been an option.. I now have just shy of waist legnth hair.. For me the missing ingredient all these years was simplicity and stretching my curls.. Being able to fit my wash routine in 1 to 2 times a week has ensured my scalp stays super happy and moisturized.. And I even noticed that even with being close to 40, my strands are now starting to grow in a bit thicker.. Still think they are fine and high porosity, but nothing like the brittle strands I had say 5yrs ago.. I just love seeing so many women embracing their natural hair and finding what works best for them.. We all have such different routines and routes but such similar goals.. 🤗💖

  • @lise5461

    Hey, thank you for the tips!
    I think I really want to try this method because I need a quicker routine (my studies take me a lot of time so, sometimes, I don't even have the time to do my wash day properly). But, on the other hand, I really don't like wash and go, I prefer how my hair look with a blow out, because I am on the thinner side too (and let's be honest, I don't even know how to do, I don't have any hair dryer or hooded dryer so...).

    • @TransformedbyO
      @TransformedbyO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you usually get your blowouts done at the salon?

    • @lise5461
      @lise5461 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TransformedbyO Yes, but I don't do that really often. As I said, I'm very busy so I usually do some braids / buns, it's much more easier but it's a little bit boring to wear the same hairstyles everydays.

  • @ossier2796
    @ossier2796 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You explained it very well. Love Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic and Innersense I Create Hold. I didn’t like the way my hair felt with oils and butters, I only wear wash and goes. It’s not a movement for me but a way of life, simple.

  • @rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr631
    @rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr631 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for this video. So are braids outs like twists outs in that the no oils/butters routines might work well for that style?

    So I have big chopped..I have less than 3inches of hair (4c) to be precise
    To practice the no raw oils and butters, do I still need the mousse and gel
    Since there’s nothing to define???
