Nah I think probably not an insane amount of years. Remember that both WiT and Toei are animating One Piece. WiT could probably take a while as we have seen with AoT but Toei would finish post timeskip in like maybe six years if they do one past arc every year till wano.
With the Wit remake starting from the East Blue and Toei maybe restarting from the timeskip. In 10 years, we might have a whole new One Piece to recommend and rewatch.
Honestly, one piece REALLY needed it. The manga and anime are too close so the animation team has to resort to filler and repeating scenes they shouldn't have to. It's gonna be a long winter🥶
I disagree. I believe they have been trying to catch the anime up with the manga to reveal the one piece at the same time across all the media. It just doesnt make any sense for them to reveal what it is in the manga half a year before the anime.
@@Thomaskh7 Yeah they have to stop trying to bridge the gap. There’s a gap for a reason. I guess the anime crossed less than a year mark. If they both had break weeks at the same time that would probably do them more good. But tbh the break can only do good
One reason i think they choose the fishman island arc is the number of episodes. It's 21 episodes released weekly. Which perfectly covers the 6 month gap the one piece team needs.
I was pretty curious what was gonna happen with this. Toei is a proud company, and since the WIT remake was so well received, I doubted Toei would take it lying down. Can't wait to see where this goes
They probably saw Kumas backstory, the execution of Mjosgard and Saturns death scene and thought: „what would be even left if we censored all of that?!“
Toei realized how good lighting/shadowing would improve the depth and colors during the wano arc. You could see the drastic improvemnt in the fishman island arc rework immediately.

A break like this is long overdue and honestly still very short compared to animes now which is universally seasonal now. Along with the time slot change which possibly means more accurate adapted violence from the manga, this is a long overdue W for One Piece fans. I really hope they condense Dressrosa & Wano down the line during a several month hiatus too. I think the new Netflix OP anime is putting a lot of pressure on Toei to modernize the anime which they've been about 12 years behind on. By condensing it they can now they can keep viewers watching their Toei version, even years down the line.
I got so accustomed to Toei’s pacing that I developed a sixth sense for when the 10 second skip button was needed. Between that and 1.5-2x speed at times, the 1108 episodes it took me to catch up went by pretty easily haha
I've started watching again after a solid 12 year break by watching the WHOLE show again and I've rather quickly started just watching at 2x speed and skipping accordingly and it's actually reasonable "pacing" that way lol
Honestly i wanted to see the cover stories animated since they would make great filler. But 6 monthes without new one piece episodes would let manga get ahead

I’ve been saying for a couple months now to expect a break. Not only do the staff deserve it but the anime is getting very close to the manga. I figured if we didn’t get a break they’d heavily extend Kuma’s backstory in the anime tbh
Pacing issues is one of the reasons why I usually read the manga version of the "bigger" series. Having the time to be able to watch a whole lot of shorter seasonal animes, while also reading one piece instead of watching it feels so much more worth it.
I love fishman island, the fact its getting this special treatment before any other arc just makes me so happy, i hope it succeeds and we eventually see punk hazard, dressrosa and wci remastered too.
The pacing WILL NOT BE BETTER when the anime returns. 6 months will only give about 15 chapters gap. That's nothing if they want to actually adapt 2-3 chapters per episode.
Here's my hope, if the redo of fishman island receives GOOD reception... They'll find the confidence (AND MONEY) to redo other arcs. They could even make it a habit to spend half the year fixing older arcs, revisiting and gradually fixing the pacing or quality. And most of us would agree this is what Toei's One Piece so badly needs.
I dont even care about the pacing. I figured this was so the anime could more often look like the scene of Garp talking to Kuzan in the latest episode. 6 months should give them time to get ahead and map out how to keep up that quality. The pacing has mostly been fixed for me ever since they realized filler can be all the moments of fights we don’t see.
This would be a good opportunity to transition the anime to a Seasonal model. The weekly model at this point is a relic of the past and One Piece is one of the only animes that still uses it and having One Piece Seasons with the quality of a seasonal anime would be very welcome.
Part of the reason why it's still weekly in the first place is that One Piece has become a staple of Japanese broadcast TV, so I don't see a change to the release model being likely after the hiatus is over
It would be a dream come true if they did this for every arc. Especially the shortening and condensing of episodes, I remember while watching Wano I slept through entire episodes of the Raid on Onigashima and missed nothing important. So as you said, this is amazing news.
Having The One Piece cover pre skip and these Log episodes cover post skip would be the best case scenario. Yes, it will be messy for a bit, but in the end we will have the best possible adaptation.
Also people keep talking about more post timeskip arcs, probably because that's when the pacing and animation issues got really bad, but some pre timeskip arcs could definitely use this love too. Skypeia for the pacing, marineford for the art, it would be just as awesome to see!
Lots of media like anime and games forget the mindset that “less is more”. Its good that one piece is adapting this again as people dont want to waste days or weeks of viewership leading to disinterest.

For someone who started years ago to watch OP like a tv show with around 20 episodes each season, I don't really mind. The next break will then be a year instead of 5-6 months.
Honestly the best announcement out the anime in a long time. The pacing single-handedly turned me into borderline manga-only, so having it "fixed" will be incredible. If they do this once a year, it'll allow them to keep the pacing on the new content tight as well. Be cool to see them cut down the New World arcs consistently like this going forward.
The spot they chose to do this was perfect, this is exactly the place where I gave up the anime and started reading instead. Opting to just watch specific hype highlights when I would hear the animators were shining again.
The very latest episode is CLEAR example of this. Pizarro took the entire episode to slap down on Garp’s ship, only to be destroyed by Garp and Koby at the end of the episode.

It's been a lot more than just great moments imo...apart from ofc the stretched scenes most episodes for quite a while now have been just extremely well animated. I'm so glad I discovered your channel. I've recently startet to watch the anime again, after stopping at the time punk hazard released some years ago. I'm really into the story, I absolutely love how the straw hats grew in importance since the time I last watched it. But watching the dressrosa arc really frustrated me, cause I really like the arc, but starting the episode, skipping the first 4 minutes, then skip the last 2 minutes again, just to start the next episode, skipping the first 4 minutes again and so on and on, it felt so incredible tedious. I enjoy the story and I'm always hooked to see what will happen next, but then the episodes feel so fleshless sometimes. My brother told me last year to start watching it again and so I did, but when I told him my feelings about dressrosa, he just said: ah its not that bad, which irritated me a lot, so its nice to see I'm not alone. But your video als makes me wonder if it is worth it to keep watching. I'm totally hyped for the wano arc, atleast from what I've randomly catched about it so far, but it seems like my feelings about dressrosa just gets doubled in this extremely long anime chapter ahead, especially with zou and whole cake island between it. And I dont have the impression that I have the option to just skip the filler episodes, because the fillers are woven into the episodes themselves. anyway, nice video mate, all the best to you!
That's my only criticism of the show. Maybe whole cakes chase being a little drawn out. I mean I get it katakuri is strong but gosh luffy got blasted like 90 times by him. Its a little rough to watch. Themes make sense but did I really need to meet big moms entire family 😂.
no hate towards the VA but I never liked franky's japanese voice to begin with. always thought it didnt fit him at all. so a new voice for franky would be very much welcome from my side

Krillin's rock was in some kind of "wouldn't it be cool if?" jest, and Gohan was using it for training. Rocks thrown in One Piece that hit tended to be with more malice behind it.
@@grammeland1 it’s not exactly accurate. He said the reason why they had this policy for one piece is because of the time slot that it’s aired in Japan. Yes, you can show that these episodes of dragon Ball Z are being aired during the same time slot, the same rock policy would not apply to them. He even explains how if they were to change timeslots, that would be beneficial because they wouldn’t have to sensor stuff like that in one piece
As a One Piece fan who dropped the anime since I started reading the manga for the reasons Liam mentioned, I'm glad that i can comfortably watch the anime again without worrying too much with the pacing
“Reading was way more fun” You weren’t a weekly reader during dressrosa were you? Still to this day the worst arc to wait chapter by chapter for; entire months of being in a singular fucking hallway.
Now? Yea Dressrosa is amazing to read…in its entirety, but it was absolutely far worse than anything the anime has done, when read weekly (with breaks)
I’m all for this. Anything to improve the lives of the animators and other creatives. The quality is gonna be incredible. Time to take it from the top and start rewatching!! 😂
I've wished they would do this for so long. Always wanted a better product because of occasional breaks than continuous slow paced filler that you basically need to watch at 2x speed.

It's strange how they never just went with a seasonal approach before. Would it really cost them so much money to just come out with episodes less often?
Many people think "Oh, One Pace was all for nothing in the end" but I disagree. I believe it's BECAUSE fans made One Pace that Toei realized how much the public WANTED a SHORT and faithful adaptation. To the people who worked on One Pace, your voices was heard and your effort wasn't in vain.
I have to say you really put a big point into perspective for me GLR. Like I thought the idea was fine but also went in the back of my mind "like if this is just an excuse for the anime to give the manga some breathing room, that won't do much as six months would mean what at most 18-20 chapters of more content from Oda IE like 4-5 months buffer that's not too much" but pointing out "we're seeing them START with Return to Saebody/Fishman as a test ground to then lead to ones for Punk Hazard/Dressrosa/Zou/Whole Cake and Reverie before maybe stopping at Wano when the anime animation REALLY started picking up at points" makes this project make a lot more sense. Because yeah I love One Piece but I only read the manga man I haven't touched the anime in YEARS becaouse of it's rough pacing. Don't know if I would now with better pacing but I know others would and that's very much appreciated.
With all duo respect to the people working on OP, it takes alot of work and time to put out good quality every week but having to take a break for this long because "they need a break" makes no sence, its not like they gonna pre-animate in the time being or not work on something else since its their job. After all after the break they're gonna have to keep going at the exact same pase which is weekly episodes, also they surely earn enough money to hire enough people to work on it maybe even thru shifts so there is no real excuse in why this should be a reason to take such a long break. The Only acceptable reason is that the anime catches up to the manga but even that is inexcuseable since who would have thought that if they keep taking Breaks on releasing manga chapters that the anime catches up one day, its their own fault. And dont hit me with its too much work its surely less than animating one episode.
@@mustofaakmal7493 The break is intended to allow the creators to "recharge" and improve the series. The break will lead to the next phase of the Egghead Arc.

They don’t do this at all in Egghead not even in Wano

Toei know Saturn death scene and Kuma backstory was so brutal in the manga and they want to show it with the high quality as much as they can in the anime too. I really hope to get the highest quality for that. I will watch the remastered version and then I will go back watch the old version again just to see the different. 😂

They could even make it a habit to spend half the year fixing older arcs, revisiting and gradually fixing the pacing or quality.

I dont even care about the pacing. I figured this was so the anime could more often look like the scene of Garp talking to Kuzan in the latest episode. 6 months should give them time to get ahead and map out how to keep up that quality. @@CloudWalkBeta You're right, tho I find it weird they are doing this now with the remake in the works, just makes this remaster seem pointless

We don't need years of break at this point, you can look to the Wit studios remake to fix the pacing and all other issues, keep in mind the voice actors are all getting old, I can't imagine losing Luffy's VA before the anime ends so please no more long breaks after this one
you're saying TOEI should remake post timeskip? you realize theres a remake in the making, right?
Arguing with Kids who don't understand that the anime is poorly paced is the worst argument you can have on the internet
i do think the project is good but how will i survive HALF A YEAR without new one piece episodes
I just love the idea of "the one piece" retell the story with none of the preassure, none of the in episode filler.
Worked so well for full metal alchemist already!
