Called in a nice mature bird, paintbrush beard, spooked at the decoys, walked out of range and just strutted and gobbled for an hour and half. Crazy bird. Probably been educated by one of us out there! Going back tomorrow evening after Easter dinner and church. Happy Easter! Rejoice!
This week I saw a doe in my yard. I live in a big city suburb. I went flying out the door to get a better view and ended up eye to eye with her. She was panting so I was very quiet. I said " Well Hi Lucy". That scared her and she took off. What a trill to see one so close.
That poor doe was probably resting from a sprint if panting, might have stopped in your yard to "collect herself" just long enough to survey her options, so you got a REALLY LUCKY MOMENT!😁 Jumping out in front of them like a "crazed fan" is sure to spook them if they aren't very familiar with you, but if you acknowledge her then non chalantly turn away & go about your business, she might stick around long enough to investigate.. even come closer.. it takes a while for wild deer to get to a point where they trust you, but when they feel comfortable around you, it sure is peaceful to sit together! It might have been a fleeting blessing, but better than nothing, & who knows, she may come back through your way again!
She was probably running from something. Barbara. Might try putting out some feed every day and see if she comes back around! Thanks. May God Bless! jimmy
Jimmy Houston is a legend in my book. I’m almost 40 and remember him as a kid. He was a classic good guy and awesome fisherman. Still is I’m sure. Just always excited to see him then and now.

Seeing Lucy and the others, it reminds me why I don’t think people should hunt them. They are so majestic and extremely intelligent. I love what you do for all the deer. Seeing Lucy and the others, it reminds me why I don’t think people should hunt them. They are so majestic and extremely intelligent. I love what you do for all the deer. It can’t even think what you pay for a month to feed the deer. Probably more that what it costs to feed a child for a month. Love you both💙❤️🇺🇸

Yup, my deer are shedding too here in Northern NY, but not QUITE as much yet! They sure look like scraggly ragamuffins when they shed! I'm so glad Jimmi & Chris have the chance to experience this & share w/everyone!(&the local herd&turkeys!)
