The turkeys in the background on that first shot killed me LOL
God bless all who see this
and God bless you too
You too
Thanks bro. Back at ya👍🏻

I've bow hunted my entire life, when I was younger i shot 70 lbs. As I got older I reduced the weight for one reason. So i will tell you when 60 vs 70 lbs matters, it matters when the hunt isn't going as planned and the weather turned sour and you have been sitting in a tree stand for hours with wind and rain, and just as the sun is setting that monster deer you have been after finally walks into view broadside but you struggle to draw a 70 lb bow cause you are shivering from being so cold. Performance wise, there is no discernible difference.
Im sorry but there is quite a difference from 60 to 70 i understand what your saying about sitting in the cold and i agree you need to have reserve muscle for those times
To spend a day with Kendall would be a dream come true
So true
@Breck’s Outdoors oh no
Cool test. The penetration question is much more complicated and 60 vs 70 will vary a lot with arrow weight, diameter, spine, and FOC. The thing that will never change is that you will always get more penetration and less drop with 70 lbs over 60 and the same arrow properly spined. My thought is to pull as much as you can while getting adequate practice.
Agree. Also a 70 lbs. Bow will shoot a heavier arrow much flatter then a 60 lbs. that will give you much more penetration.
70 lb. Not lbs.@@benjaminsharp5714
Bent over dumbbell rows will increase draw power significantly
Pull ups too
Laughing, exactly what I was thinking
Probably a good addition to the row motion would be, same position but lighter weight and a reverse fly motion.
I'm fairly new to the world of compound bows. I generally shoot traditional bows like Hun Horsebows and various long bows. I have got to say the compound bow world is a bit overwhelming so these test videos are extremely helpful. Thank you and keep up the great work!
You don't know how much your videos help me Kendall thank you so much I have bad anxiety attacks and I feel like your videos help me thank you 🙏🏽 God bless you and all your friends and family
I feel you bro I used to have bad anxiety, and KG’s videos always helped me God bless.
Love it when kg posts Really funny dude
Yes he is
11:00 you show a deer can drop 16 inches in 0.33 seconds!!!! Incredible reaction time for such a large animal
I like how you added a fews details like "this is about average arrow weight"
Knowing nothing about bows it really helped understanding the test better!
Nice stuff
Thanks!
Awesome job guys! Great analysis. Keep up the great work
I’ve been sick and this being posted makes me feel better
My girl just broke up with me and I went straight to your chanel you make me feel better
Sorry inshallah God will give you somone even beter god has a plan
Keep making great videos we love your vids!
Love the video, Support the channel always. Lol I thought I was tripping "wait we did the math wrong" (gel penetration).. I'd given up trying to correct y'all so quick
YESSIR KG posted! Makes my day a lot better.
Keep up the great work kg
I’ve always been of the opinion that you pull as much as you can while being able to do so with ease. I always practice and set my weight based on how well i can shoot/draw while sitting, standing, wearing layers, wearing warm weather gear.
2:55 turkey down 🏹🦃
60 lbs is a lot easier to pull when you are cold and been sitting in a tree a while.
This!
With let off it’s always easy
@@daggerg8451 nerd 🤣🤣🤣
@@daggerg8451 it ain't that easy buddy, definitely doable tho
Lmao I draw 80 easily cold or not. Grow some balls
Love these type of videos
u should go fishing with creek fishing adventures this spring
Keep up the good work love your videos
You should do more vids like this I love them
Scam?
Always a good day when kg posts keep it up kg
Awesome vid Kendall I’m guessing this vid was made before you got your Mathew’s bow
This is my first bow and I have been out hunting for about 15 days. I have gotten a few shots off, and my last show was uphill about 54 yards at a buck. My arrow hit him, but when I found it, It had only gone in about two inches, basically snapping only the broad head off and after 450 yards of tracking only 4 drops of blood. Bow hunting is a hard learning curve, and I found this video informative! I am at 55 lbs draw, and considering going up in poundage, but broke my collarbone ( plate with 12 screws on my left side). I am definitely not going to take another shot above 35 yards considering your information and my experience.
Even for me shooting 70, my max range is still only 35 yards just bc of how fast deer can move and dodge an arrow
Totally! won't do it again, and I appreciate your video and information!@@KendallGray1
Interesting. Always want to do this myself, but you did it for me first. Thank you!
Love the videos KG!!!!!! 👍
Man I used to be the same way, doing all that testing and everything to find the maximum power bow for hunting and all that when I was a teen. Then I saw an old timer take down a monster buck with a 30 lb draw weight. Shoot what you're comfortable with. Deer don't need much killing. Ive been out of the archery since I was a teen (outgrew my bow, can't afford replacement) but I just recently inherited my dad's old bows and I plan to get back into it and hope to be bagging some deer next fall when I get myself back up to a level I consider hunting good.
30 pound bow wouldn't have enough kinetic energy to drive an arrow into a deer.
@@MrMattiezaya2a bow with a good broadhead can kill a deer with 35 all day
@@skylerbrunner8798 @ 10 yards maybe
Always great when you post
Love this test….so much so I would love to see it done with exact measurements. Nice job gentlemen
"Whiteboard of integrity" 😂
Great video my dudes
Hey KG thank you so much for your videos love em all love how shooting by the way keep it up God bless you.
Yo I love your vids keep it up I’m buying a kg knife soon can’t wait
Thanks guys as a newb this was enlightening
Love your vids KG
Nice shots, I would consider the shots pass throughs on a deer because ballistics gel has way more friction and grip on the arrow passing through
Love the vids bro
Hey man, I love your videos! Keep making awesome videos
LOVE YA KENDALL and btw love your knife
For the drop test, did you make sure the 20 yard pin was hitting the same spot for both 60 and 70 lbs before shooting the 40 yard pin? Drop may not be as drastic of a difference as it showed if you didn’t. Thanks for the content. God Bless.
He did. It showed some text he did
Good point!
Kendall, I'm 72 and watching you cracks me up but I so enjoy your exuberance.
The legal poundage for my state is 30lbs. Consistency is key with archery and shot placement. A shoot a 60 lb and most deer I come any where from 10 to 20 feet from my tree stand. A good shot to the longs and or heart will drop any deer. Awesome video.
Eventually...yes but I've double lung 🫁 shot deer go 300 to 400 yds before expiring
Why is it every time he hits the block of gel a turkey squawks 😂😂😂
KEEP IT UPPPP KG LOVE UR VIDS!!!!!!
I LOVE YOU DOING BOW STUFF
Let’s go kendle I love you lol
Keep up the good work god bless🙏
The Hunting Public proved with a video that speed will not make up for deer drop. Anything past 15 yards and they can jump the string.
Hunting public also thinks you need to be shooting over 500 grain arrows, but I do agree with the deer drop statement
@@JacobHatesRunning years of collected data shows it is more beneficial.
@@jonathansimmons4253 in what? in breaking “hard bone” maybe and they don’t even define what hard bone is in their study. Big bone makes up such a low percentage of where I’m aiming and I’d much rather have a faster straighter arrow that doesn’t drop nearly as much. Deer are so easy to have pass thrus with you do not need a heavy arrow
@@JacobHatesRunning Ribs just are a myth on deer. They don't exist.
Yooooooooo I love your videos God bless you man
Kg I bought your hoodie its green and i bought your blue tigris and the blue tigris gloves
Hey Kendell great vid keep up the great work. I think a broadhead review with like long vs short broadheads or serrated vs not serrated broadheads would be a good video if you're interested.
The best part of these archery vids is Kanye gobbling when kg shoots
Thanks for the good content and thanks for all the time you put in to these videos and as always god bless America 🇺🇸
KG can you make another best target challenge? You should do A deer and a Black Hole target
Thanks for your work! Well done!
Thank you! God bless you and your family!!!
45lbs is all you need you can ask many pro archers that pulling that amount of weight will absolutely ruin your shoulders no matter who you are.. I’ve killed every whitetail 45 lbs I let them get within 35 yards never shoot a deer with its head down or a eye that you can see means he can see you, if deer’s looking away they will never jump or duck a lot of deer are lost due to that
True. Got a bull elk with 47# at 30 yds. Pass through heart shot
What about 110lb long bows 😂
@NastyN8thegreat2 the longbow is the medieval artillery.
It's not meant to be accurate, it was designed by the english to kill French 5 minutes before they could get into range to fire back.
It can hunt but that's not what it was invented to do.
Just like you could kill a deer with a cannon but why would you?
This is awesome content! I love having the info
Loved this video!
Science is fun.
Thanks for the comparisons
I used to watch you long time ago and I'm starting to watch again
You should make more squirell hunting videos
Yes love your videos
Solid video thank you for doing this! For science!
Matching grains per pound would be a more fair test
I learned 20yrs ago that accuracy out weights speed easy to pull straight back in tree hold longer is way better and if you aim low at bottom of the heart to compensate for the deer dodging a arrow . I if I can try to pick a shot on a animal when they are preoccupied doing something and not as aware . Love to see you younger guys taking interest in the sport . Get some ladies involved in your show and outdoors to help insure we can keep sport alive . Really enjoy watching your stuff also buddy kept it up .
love your vidoes your my favorite youtuber
Love the vids KG, keep it up
Praise the Lord we have Kendall gray to watch!
NOT REAL THIS IS A SCAM!
You should make a video showing us all your guns
Yessir another KG video
Imagine how awesome it would be if we spent a hole day with kg
That would be sick but probably not that long
Yep
That would be awesome
You had me at “thats kind of alot, kind of a little” subbed.
Two reasons I dropped to 60. 1 got old😂 2 and most important after sitting in a tree stand for hours in zero or colder weather conditions I found it very difficult if not all most impossible to draw my bow back if I had to shoot from a sitting position and that was completely unacceptable, sometimes they get the drop on you and have to shoot from a sitting position.
Exact reason I dropped weight also. Still kill plenty of whitetails
....the birds in the background after the shot got me ROFL!!!!!
The only thing that beats a ducking deer is short distance!
KG sounds to me you need to start pumping some IRON!!! lmbo
When testing your draw weight knock an arrow. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen those scales snap and then boom your 4 limbs become 8.
What does this mean
@@LethalL260 A dry fire with a modern compound bow can cause the bow limbs snap. What he’s using to test the draw weight is just a luggage scale which are known to fail which would cause a dry fire.
Do a 70 pound hunting challenge
Hey hope you never stop making videos KG videos bring me Lajoy thanks for making👍😀
Excellent video. I have found, after all else, that broadhead sharpness and hitting bone or meat only, determines depth of penetration. I hunt with 60 to 70 ib. draw weight bows depending on weather conditions.
Poor KG still trippin over that buck 😂😂😂
great stuff. i'm thinking maybe we can drop some arrow weight at sixty lbs to 370 or so and lessen the drop a little.
Also has allot to do with your arrows and your FOC
Love ur videos n comedy to go with them. Try to watch every 1.
I Iove watching your videos Kendall. Very entertaining and knowledgeable about things.
And would like to hang out with you country boys one day, cause I'm from Louisville and a Kentucky boy too.
Keep up the videos and good work, look forward to seeing more.
Can you do a 70 vs 80lb recurve bow comparison?
came across this video while stoned, now i’m interested in bow hunting
ive shot 70 for decades just moved to 75 this year and wow the diff is crazy.
Hey Kendall do you know when the survival kit is coming back in stock
I run 65 just feels perfect never felt the need to lower or raise it.
Of course you have let off
@@daggerg8451 You recurve nerds always have something to say about let off. You're not tougher stronger or more of a manly-man bcuz you shoot a recurve...you just like old tech. Grow up 🤣🤣🤣
@@csmnitemare4532 I like long bows🤣
The answer to this is to hit the gym. 70 is better in so many ways. Of course it’s harder to pull back. Holding back, if your bow has 80% let off, you’re holding 12 lbs on the 60 compared to 14 on the 70. So very little difference. You have it in your head that there is a huge difference there. But there isn’t. 60 is good. But if you are going to shoot longer shots, the more you pull the better. I shoot 70 all day with no issues. I’ve done it for a long time. The more you practice with it, the easier it gets.
Recurved bows range from 45/60 range. As a rule of thumb, 40 pounds of kinetic energy efficiently kills whitetails, and 50 pounds or greater is required for larger game such as elk, moose or bear. 65 just may be the sweet spot
My bow is 80 lb
Blew hole in a bull moose bigger than my fist.
45 is all u need
@@tiktokcancerous9974 Where did you get youre 80lb recurve? Is there 80lb recurve with ILF limbs?
I shoot Hoyt satori (ILF limb) and 67lb is the highest they have for my size.
I want to try bows with higher draw weight...
One of the most successful huge buck hunters I've known uses a 50 lb bow. By the way, I've met and spoke to legendary bowhunter Gene Wensel. Better to be accurate than overbowed.
I love this guy he is real life Ellis from Left 4 Dead.🤣( Best character)
Love the video. But I think you need to do the test again and instead of shooting a 70 pound bow turned down to 60, do a 70 pound bow at max draw weight and a 60 pound bow at max draw weight. I could be wrong but I think the results might be a little different. Because a 70 pound bow turned down to 60 is not going to preform the way it should at max draw weight and same for the 60 pound bow. They should both shoot better at their intended draw weights. Good video, keep up the good work, new subscriber here.👍
