Thanks for another great video Jeff. Our Season opened this Morning in Illinois but I may try tomorrow because of the temperature drop. It was 63° this Morning but tomorrow it's supposed to be 44°.
I have adopted the term "Hunting Lull" when trying to explain to some of my other Hunting friends that don't understand that there doesn't need to be a "Lull" if you Hunt smart by doing your Homework. I say this because I have come to the conclusion that a lot of Hunters out there are the reasons for the dreaded October Lull. My Dad and I have always Hunted with the weather, and used Morning stands and Evening stands. Another great video Jeff 👍🦌
I put whs on while i hunt in my one ear bud once the movement is gone untill i leave and right before it picks up when i get back out in evening. Or those few all day sits .... move this channel and i can honestly say he knows what hes talking about. Everything hes teaching us is exactly what i observed with the deer and have happened during the season especially these mature bucks
I love October hunting, from the very end of September to first week of November, that’s my sweet spot. I hunt a heavily pressured area and late September through end of October has the fewest hunters in the woods
I'm going out in the morning tomorrow on Public Land due to your advice on Cold Fronts. I got pictures of some decent ones going back to bed on the first cold day last year mid morning so im hoping to replicate that. Thanks for your years of Great advice, Jeff.
Hello our season started sept. 28 here in Ohio. One of my main places to hunt the farmer really dislikes deer . They eat to much he says.. so he has 130 acres with little woods and some strip edges. Well our oct lull starts day 1. He lets some amish bow hunt the first day 7 come piling out of the van with 3/4 of the property in standing corn. Its crazy and they shoot all they see. Makes it tough to see a deer back there. October lull on steriods!
Quality info as always. If I have "home wind" coming from the north I can sit in my stand on my grandmother's property. And any other I basically need to find public land that will work. Wish me luck on my first Archery season sit.
Wisconsin youth season Saturday is 2 days too soon for the weather forecast! better fill my sons tag by 0800 Saturday. haven't set foot on the land in a month, fingers crossed!
I have very thick cover and a 3/4acre food plot on a property I hunt. I just now saw the first mature buck on camera September 30. They never show up till around October when temps cool
Every time I go into the woods, hunting or not, I always assume there is a deer just ahead of me. I apply that to turkey hunting as well. It really pays off not jumping and alerting the woods that you’re there. Always assume that deer/turkey is just around the corner
I remember believing in the "Lull" and bucks went nocturnal. Well thats because I was hunting invasively lol. Needless to say I dont experience the "lull" anymore.
Jeff, when a party is rifle hunting on a small parcel (4 on 30 acres) do you feel it’s one and done? I.e. One deer shot, the parcel is spooked out for the rest of the weekend?
This is where I am at in central Ohio. I have 2 stands where I can go with the southward winds, it’s just the one I think has better odds of seeing a deer is about 10-15 minute walk in through a bean field. So ALOT greater chance of spooking targets.
Feel free to laugh at me if its a dumb question, but is creating a food plot on public land a good idea if its legal, asking mostly because i own no land but hunt a lot of public land
Do you feel like farming pressure is the same as hunting pressure? I have a very small parcel (26 acres) and I haven’t hunted yet this year, however we are consistently on the land working with our bees and our garden.
start trapping or let some old timer trap. hard to find these guys nowadays. find buddies or friends of friends who enjoy nighttime coyote hunting. or better yet. get a night vision scope and an ar15 and have a blast

I am loving the October lull. That just means the rut is getting closer. What a glorious time to be in the woods
"Temp Dropatures" 😂😂 Jeff you've got bucks on the brain right now! And I do too lol, bowhunting has got my brain all over the place right now!
😁

Thanks a lot!!
It's such a fixable problem, but a lot of hunters just won't step out of their box. Their entire season is truly a lull...

I've heard it called the October swell which is a really good explanation of the change the bucks go through and how big looking they become.

Dang...yes, immediate LULL!

The drought is crazy in some locations...and the EHD that goes along with it!
Thanks for all the wonderful knowledge @WHS yall are amazing ! Also I'm curious of coyotes can cause a lul?

Great video jeff 👏 😊
Very good information Jeff thank you, so the question is what the October lull versus the fall shift or when bucks move to there fall range

Keep them coming Jeff!!
I will do that...we really appreciate you watching!
It's opening day in Michigan today. I'm just waiting for the wind to change so I can get out to my stand.
Thanks Jeff

Pretty cool how that works Jay!!
So my target buck showed up a week ago got 1 picture of him on the cell cam and haven’t got another pic of him yet! Hope he shows back up soon!
That's what some of our's do too, Drew! They trickle in before they settle in...these next 3-4 weeks will tell you a LOT!

Food plots have not been growing well, soil is good, no weeds on south facing slope any ideas on why or what I can do next year

Hey jeff quick question. Where do I look ahead on the weather to find when that biometric drop will happen? And how to time it?
What ever happened to the podcasts? I used to always watch those...
Thanks Jared...Jen is really on me to get those going again 😬 We appreciate you!
Is the cold front tomorrow worth hunting the morning given I have a good morning stand?
I think it is if it's not too invasive? The great thing is...lots of time to let the location heal if you spook something...

I don’t. I personally have seen deer (tons of them) in an area just hours after running a bush hog through it.
Make some merch or i will!!
I love this channel but its always about vegetation that deer dont have in this area lol.
Right now, I have coyotes EVERY nite, they're eating all the apples under my trees. I'm not sure what to do, between 11 and 5 am.
We have them all over our land at night too. And racoons. And bobcats. But they don't seem to spook the deer much!
start trapping or let some old timer trap. hard to find these guys nowadays. find buddies or friends of friends who enjoy nighttime coyote hunting. or better yet. get a night vision scope and an ar15 and have a blast
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Yeah, a doe keeps coming. But not as many deer now.
@mikemellon80 Yeah unfortunately I can't shoot centerfire where I live. No one traps anymore by me.
Drought is kicking my butt. Zero food plot success. Zero deer on camera for about 2 months now.
The rainy summer is kicking mine. Unlimited green food and acors, deer don't seem to be moving much.
