Had good conditions last night. A couple young does came in just inside bow range. I was tempted but they were too small. I was hoping their mother would show up. The wind changed and I could tell they noticed me. They were looking towards me but didn't run away.
Last weekend in the 90s here in OK excited for the 26th opening muzzleloader got my set up finalized back in august hope and pray the wind and Thermals do what I think they’re going to do. First year hunting this set
Its been 85 here in sc every single day. I walk almost a mile into my spot and im just drenched with sweat. It's not even fun to me. Going to wait till it cools down so atleast i enjoy just being out there
I went out on this last Saturday not really expecting much but didn’t have time with work otherwise. I saw 4 does and 2 bucks! I’m getting better at using a bow after so many years but I still don’t feel comfortable past 30 yards! The first buck I saw was a nice younger 6 pt I think and as a guess maybe 50-60 yards out. The second buck I think was potentially an 8 pt but he was further away, even if he was a 6 he was much bigger and more mature than the first one. Overall what an exciting day that was seeing all that movement!
Hi Steven, thank you! That one is right around 1/3rd of an acre. We have them up to 4 acres. We have several small clover hunting plots that really work well!
Every time I watch a video of yours I end up going, "Oh, yeah, I forgot about that," like clockwork. This time around it was hard wind all day and a clam evening encourages the later movement.
Not yet...too early for that. We are getting close tho. We go by hunting season #s only. You never want to go by any pre or post season #s. In MN we are just building to the #s where we need to take some, this year. I am suspecting about 5-6, but I will go by more of the late October #s...into early November. We will target those does during 1-2 sits with some help, in December. OR, when we are on stand and have a buck down already. In WI we have a problem with a huge doe herd on a neighboring parcel that is more than 10Xs larger and with very few does shot. We could shoot 10 and they are just replaced. Right now the population is pretty stable and consistent. A tough call, BUT 3 or 4 would be perfect. Always a moving target tho, and I like to get kids or hunters who don't have a lot of opportunity involved.

@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 thank you for letting me know, they do look nice and caught my eye… so had to ask. Keep on with the great content Jeff! Good luck this hunting season!
Hi Jimmy! I think DeerGro would have some more in depth stuff on their site...but we cut the clover before a rain and sprayed at that time. Clover exploded!
I just typed in Indianapolis on accuweath r and it shows a MAJOR 14 degree temp drop from Sunday to Monday. That's about as big as it gets! Part of an extremely strong cold front that is sweeping across the country into early next week...
How far are you from posey county? Fields should be full of machinery harvesting so the deer are use to the activity right now. Go in with the irrigation running if you’re super worried about it. They make just enough noise you can sneak in behind them and it helps with scent control too. If you’re concerned about them seeing it don’t put it on a tree along the route but back off in there a little better than along a fence row unless it’s 20’+. Other than noticing you putting it up or it looking spooky and new and in their face, I’d think you’ll be good as far as putting a stand out this time of year. I have in that area with success even in November.
Appreciate the content as always. I'm still a little confused on "cold front" hunting. Do you wait until the weather drops from warmer to cooler, and hunt the first cold day? Or are you hunting the last day of warm weather before the cold front comes in and temperature drops?
Definitely AFTER or on the backside of the cold front... You can find a small uptick in opportunity before, but you don't want to hunt right before if you have a choice and can hunt after.
Jeff, I’ve been searching and reading for hours. Can you give me a clear sense of mind and answer me this? In Michigan is a waterhole legal to hunt over or is it considered baiting?
What do you think of going in and adjusting a camera at the edge of a bedding area this late? Had a bear nudge the camera and got it a little out of focus! Worth the risk?
Just go in sneaky and when you know they are on their feet feeding somewhere. Think scent control. Farmers are still in the fields anyways. Or at least this is how I would approach this on how my set ups are in big ag country. Think recon scout and you’ll be fine in my opinion.
That was a nice cold front to hunt. Had a couple 2-3 year-olds close enough to touch their antlers as they walked past my blind. I hesitate to get deeper back into the 20 acre woodlot I hunt the most this early in the season, but that might be a play to consider the next temperature drop.
This year isn't going to well haven't been out yet and probably not gonna be able to saved my 2 weeks vocation for November and month before it I had get new job cuz my other job shut down now I have wait a whole year to get vocation time 😡😭😭😭
That sucks! I finally got an extra week a few yrs back when I hit my 5 yr mark! I was so happy I got to hunt another week, one of the reasons I won't leave my shit job cause that could make all the difference having that time to chase a weary ol buck
And here we're I work they will give you your vacation time up front but if you quit they take the money from your held out check! I no some places may not do that but figured I would throw that out there! Hopefully you can get some time to Hunt on the weekend or during holiday vacation during Thanksgiving and Xmas! I done that for yrs! Good luck buddy!

Outstanding video 👍
Thank you very much...I hope you enjoyed coming along for a hunt 😊

Hi Jimmy! I think DeerGro would have some more in depth stuff on their site...but we cut the clover before a rain and sprayed at that time. Clover exploded!
What time did you start walking into this stand?
No signs of any cold front coming soon here in southern Indiana. Would it be too late to throw a bow stand up on a field edge near a doe bedding area?

@@joesnausageface8414 Dubois / Martin county line. I can’t go even if I had the time to. Dealing with can lean and it’s in the shop.
Like I said, it’s near a doe bedding area with the nearest buck bedding area being several hundred yards away on each side.
Not looking the best for hunting this weekend in Southwest Illinois
Pretty quiet unless still on a summer pattern...then I would strike!

Jeff, you are on another level this season!! When did you make it to the stand? ~4p?
In OH we've got 81 on Sunday down to 69 on Mon. Huntin' time!
Thanks I hope it helps! Before 4...but close to it!
Corn is still up by me. Do you think movement will still be good enough from a marsh bedding to corn during this cold front?
It could be... especially if you can find an alternate food source within that movement. Acorns, apples, some type of green.
Great camera work. This is your best work yet! Keep it up. #BigBuckInTheTruck2024
