Better late than never. I've been sober over 10 years now, the best decision I ever made. Best of luck to u. There is so much great info out there. Best advice I have is to use the wind, good acces point, and enjoy the outdoors. It will give u the best high of your life.

We used a rope scrapes for 4 years. Switched to vines last year after watching one of your older videos. Cut vines green used Zero commercial scents. We had more bucks visit the vines last 12 months than the last 4 years combined! I can't confirm with scientific data but have observed the bucks are way more aggressive with the vertical vine! Seems like the bucks like the sound of their antlers banging the vine. Almost like they are trying to dominate it. Thanks Jeff.

I love watching your videos and I believe that your knowledge is top notch. Every time you talk about the wind it confuses me. I hunt in the blue ridge mountains of VA and wind here is insanely hard to predict. Seems that no matter what day it is or how I setup there is always wind changing directions or swirling. If you know about mountain hunting and winds in the mountains I’d love to see a video about it. Most of my big bucks I’ve ever shot have been on extremely calm days with no wind. Usually after the sun comes up and heats the ground up so the thermals are lifting my scent away. Any other time I hunt it seems like the wind is always a disaster and I can’t setup for wind direction. No matter how hard I try it always changes and messes me up. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.

I have to say this Jeff im 68 been bowhunting since I was 18. In the last number of years I have had the luxury of hunting a funnel between farm fields. I'm telling you my setup was in a southeast corner of that funnel .I do all day sits for the simple reason when the chase faze is on bucks and does came through that funnel all day long I've killed nominal 8 pointers monster 8 pointers a dandy 10 pt and had a absolute monster 6 scent while drawing on him. You can and should hunt all day during the chase period if you can post up in the right spot. Another little hint my stand set up was in a group of 9 maples growing out of one stump almost all of them big enough to hang a stand. I've tricked more deer from that ambush spot than I'll ever tell. Good hunting gentlemen and keep those antlers coming home to your walls.

I hunt half days most of the time. Switch stands mid day try to follow the wind shifts.
Doe pee not much although I did use it on a drag line last year walking into stand. Also bought the little gel beads…covered them in doe pee and let them soak it up. Threw the out and around before getting into stand as a cover scent as they dehydrated they gave off odor which actually worked as a cover scents.

Videos for guys who don’t have the time to hunt wind or enough stand and hunt small private or public in New York area . • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Complete waste of time, unfortunately. The most important part of the scrape is actually the licking branch, too. Urine is urine to deer...so you can just pee on it yourself. However, the pre orbital gland scent they leave on the branch distinguishes a deer from every other deer. They also can pick those individual deer from each other, on that branch. Again tho...urine is urine. The scrape itself doesn't matter too much ..it's more generic

Jeff, as a rookie I appreciate the callouts; I am guilty of everything here except #3 and rope scrapes. For a hunter on a budget, how can I address #2 better? I have a tree saddle and climbing sticks instead of multiple ladder stands as it seemed more flexible at the time, but of course it's fairly heavy as it's a cheaper model and I'm sure I'm making a lot of noise setting it up every morning/afternoon.

Don't hang a camera below 10ft near a scrape. If they don't see it. They will smell it or somehow sense it. But don't just walk away from it. Utilize cell cams only. Make your camera settings condusive to being undetected. Dont have it taking too many pics. Set the delay correctly. Dont use multiple pics or burst modes. Throw a climbing stick on a tree. Climb up. Set your camera and get out. This has worked for me in not spooking mature bucks off their scrapes. I've done it all the wrong ways to learn this.

doe pee is a great cover scent on your clothes . When deer are in the rut , using an estrus spray has given me incredible results . Literally the 2nd/ 3rd time i ever used it , late november , i sprayed it along some oak limbs that were hanging over a fence line near the ground level . A 9’point came over the e fence , and went straight to that branch and rubbed his antlers all in that spray . I am a believer but everyone has different luck / experiences

We can't buy a rain around here. I wonder how much longer it takes for a person's scent to go away

I disagree with #2. We went out and trimmed lanes and adjusted our ladders stands with a chainsaw. That evening we had a great hunt. Just a few hours later from all the noise.

You killed a mature buck after cutting? If by great hunt, you mean saw some does and fawns, that's not reallu what he's talking about.

@BG-bx4ey I didn't my buddy did, and if that's how you sleep at night, more power to ya. One day running your mouth won't be the best idea you had.

an hour in the stand and your sent has faded away, we drive right past bedded deer with the 4-wheeler, and they don't even get up

Totally disagree with number #1, obviously don't put a camera directly on the scrape tree itself (not sure if that's what you meant) but putting a camera off to side of a fresh scrape is very effective strategy to getting on a mature deer. Coming from a Michigan hunter that's not no rookie.

Jeff if hunting the wind do you really need to be concerned about how you smell? Like wearing your clothes in the truck or showering with scent free soap.
Sure appreciate your time sharing what you have learned.

Not sure if you invented mock scrapes. Think maybe you did. But man there are guys out there using that info for content. Imitation is the best form of flattery I guess
